Okay, if you're focusing on the first part of your statement about Luka not being who you think he was established as, then I misunderstood. That means you're not talking about agency, though. In literature, character agency is the ability for a character to make meaningful choices. This is always a good thing because it makes it seem as if the character (generally) earned what happens to them, good or bad. Characters without agency are usually a sign of bad writing, unless that's the point (or joke).

Having read what you've said though, it really just sounds like you simply don't like Luka's portrayal in Paradox and believe it betrays who he was established to be in the first game, which is something completely different.
I don't know who the fuck he even is in Paradox. That the character so unwilling to kill in plot decisions can decide to go along with a plan that sees everyone he knows in the world killed with practically no pushback just doesn't compute at all.

The literal choices presented to you have nothing to do with agency, as games very often railroad you for the sake of gameplay. But you know this--you know that when the game does the spoosh and transitions into combat with music and turn-based elements, it's all representative and not literally part of the story, right?

Those in-game choices are like that.

When people talk about agency, they mean stuff like how Luka could have just stayed in town. Obviously that's not what happens, just like it doesn't happen in books, because the book/story/game/whatever has to take place. But you can sit down and logically say X character didn't have to make X choice but did.

That is agency.

And Luka has tons of it from the very start.
I don't see agency and in-game choice as necessarily separate. That you do and that the game at times does and doesn't with his character can get confusing when trying to set up his character motivations.

I think that's a big weakness to the story, the in-game choice should have been interwoven with his agency as a character. How you played Luka up to the Great Decision should have informed him what he would have chosen, and therefore reflected the choices you would have had. That the Great Decision offers such meteorically bad options renders that possibility moot, but it could have been a display of agency for him and the player that ultimately didn't happen. Say for instance every choice you, the player, and therefore Luka, makes in the story revolves around supporting the monster side of things, then the Great Decision could have displayed that in some way by showing Luka going along with the Monster World's plan, vice-versa for Angel World, and if he couldn't settle on being one way or the other in his choices up to that point, then the player themselves make the gameplay choice for him, reflecting his agency as someone who isn't wholly convinced one way or the other.

That is the bare-bones of how it could have interwoven the two, nothing too out there or hard to conceptualize or innovative.

Now, whether or not Luka's story in Paradox embodies the Luka we've come to know in the original is a whole other thing entirely and mostly personal opinion. I can kinda see where you're coming from there, but we also have to remember that A)this is an indie game, B) this is an indie PORN game, and C) it's very unlikely the dev wanted to be a professional author or had any intention to, and very likely wrote a good story "by accident." Not to diminish his achievements, but it's definitely a 'broad strokes good' kind of story.

A sequel probably would have always been a gamble. So I'm not surprised the writing varies, especially with the story getting so ridiculous lol. Thus I'm willing to cut the guy some slack. He's made some classic mistakes but clearly he put more effort into Paradox being an RPG with bangable monster girls than a novel and even MGQ had a pretty simple story overall.
I just don't see how A, B or C should factor into this at all. Indie games have the same capacity as any other game to have a great story. A porn indie game is theoretically no different. And the dev doesn't have to be a professional to write something good. Let me expand on point C from you.

The way I see it, it's not just a matter of skill but of effort and investment. Do you believe that the dev made at least one good, solid plot point in this game or the last? If you do, then they can make good plot points, so it's not a stretch to believe that they can repeat that feat. If they can make one, then they can do so again, and again, and again, so while it would invariably take more investment and time, the potential is there for them to be able to arrive at a story that is eventually made up of all good plot points. Then you'd just have a good story because a story is a sequence of plot points linked to each other, and if the plot points are all good then the story is good.

I'm not coming at this from a perspective of expecting writing that isn't up to the dev's skill level, because the dev has shown they have the capacity to write good stuff. I'm disappointed at them for not living up to the potential they've shown they have, and ultimately leaving us with something inferior to what they could have given us.

Does someone knows how to upgrade the four sacred beast weapons / armor ?
I've talked to every blacksmith i had but nobody is showing me the "1 st upgrade", they only show the ultimate version upgrade :
- Four guardians east dominion Seyryuu helmet
- Armor of the four sacred beast Suzaku
- Shield of the four sacred beast : Genbu of the north
- Four saints of the west white tiger's fang

I can't find their "lower version" craft on any blacksmith, do i have to find all the blacksmith (i have 69 / 80 blacksmith) or defeat the chaos goddess first ?

I don't know if it's route specific or not, but during Ilias' route, the blacksmith in Yamatai MW has some recipes for them.

The way that people still consider Luka a "hero of humanity" after Paradox is asinine. The way I interpret his choices in Paradox is that he's clearly a character that feels more affinity for the stronger beings (and considering his stock, it makes sense).
Power made luka distant from the common man, the difference between the monster queens and him is greater than the monster queens and a normal adventurer or monster girl. He already has everyone he needs, everyone he could care about is somewhere else or with him in the castle, everyone else can fuck off. His inherent arrogance which was developed because of his inability to fail due to his natural advantages has made him feel like a god who can act as he wishes, proven by how he solves most quests even in the og trilogy.
Of course, Luka will always be treated as a hero, as the game will never address the deeper terror of his character or actions.
Somehow and unrealisstically good and annoying piece of shit is what i ended up preffering over a wet callous piece of cartboard without an ounce of emotion or depth to him whose only drive is to swim along the stream he's thrown in.

is part 3 translated? I see people talking about it, but on my game the translated part ends on the big decision, where I think the demo ended, where can I get the full translation?

Maybe it's just my obsession with fantasy/mythology stories both classical and new, novels, VNs, games/RPGs/etc, but so far it just seems the game is just badly written. That doesn't mean it's not good nor does it prevent it from being popular. Fifty Shades of Grey was (in)famously pretty terrible fanfic before editors chopped at it and it still became bonkers popular.

You can see a lot of hallmark mistakes, like raising the stakes too fast which creates a wobbly tower instead of a something structured built on a well-grounded foundation. Another common issue of this is leaving 'lesser' sidekicks behind as narrative stepping stones, quickly to be forgotten.

Other things like not fully looping back to the inciting event or original motivation, etc. I haven't fully beaten Paradox yet but I've seen this problem in a lot of progression fantasy.

Unfortunately, you don't change a group of people from the bottom, you change them from the top. Mostly through people of power, influence, and authority whether cultural, political, or literal. For the common man to have any chance it's the beings far above them that you have to convince to not make the world miserable. That's why the villain is always an emperor, a dark lord, a high priest of an evil god or the evil god itself, blah blah.

Where Paradox goes eventually is just a badly scaled paradigm of monster girls (and angels) and humans. Most humans are helpless against monsters, especially men, however preying on humans so violently is largely pointless. It's like many modern day vampire stories where vampires coexist with humans because we would have a lot of ways to get them blood without them needing to murder someone, and that's to everyone's benefit.

Unfortunately for Paradox, things just keep scaling and scaling and scaling, so it looks like the original motivation is left behind when instead the stakes are just so high that it completely blurs the tinier origins. It's a classic writing mistake.

In a world like this, though, it'd be hard to balance the needs of ridiculous god beings and normal people, especially with so many layers in between, but the only ones that overall matters are the ones at top. If you can't convince a being that can wipe existence with a careless fart that it should be careful not to do that, it really doesn't matter how well anyone below gets along.

Luka really isn't different and yes he still is a hero of the people, it's just portrayed very badly for equally stupid reasons. IMO the dev should have focused less on the insanely bloated RPG aspects and more on the story, but whatever.

I still think people are dissecting what was likely originally a mostly throwaway pron story too harshly, and I personally always expected any sequel work would probably have these kinds of problems.

It's made worse by how unfocused Paradox is though.

Hey guys! Quick question. I'm playing 3.0.1 and I know 3.0.2 has been released for some time now. Just wondering, did this update added the 4th route?

If I advanced too far in the game to acquire the items to obtain the Hero of Justice and Magical Girl jobs, is there another way to obtain them, or would I have to restart the game?
Starting over at the big decision doesn't help.

Justice Kaiser won't let me start the quest, and the Magical Girl isn't even in her house.
I really dislike how you can lock yourself out of some quests and crafting options by advancing the story. :(

Is there a list of missable stuff?
There is a vendor in chaos route in Saloon where you can buy these items. Most missable stuff can be found in chaos route.

We are now in game version 3.03,5 (3.03 had some big bug so not a new version but dont pick a 3.03 link)
The 4 route is not in the game at the moment and you can found the stuff that was added with the search fonction or by looking at this link (dont pick the version linked because it was bugged)

If you want you can look at the post under this one to pick a 3.02 version before the translation is merged with this new version 3.03,5

Will you be our prophet and bring the Bob translation's newest version with the 3.03.5 when it's merged? I heard it'll have a feature to let you save ability sets which sounds like a godsend.

Probably not, because I never managed to do the patcher thing. You have more chance to wait for Uchihafabio because most of the time I get my version from him. But after he post it I'm probably going to host it on gofile and link it when people ask for the translated version.

Even in the NSFW genre, there are way more over-complicated games like the Venus Blood games. But in the SFW side, there are a ton of indie RPGs that go way deep into RPG mechanics and lean on simplistic graphics, like Dwarf Fortress which is famous for it.
Lmao, are you damn serious? Neither of the games are JRPGs. You could've as well mentioned Dark Souls. Venus Blood has a simpler system, even though it's a SRPG. And Dwarf Fortress isn't even an RPG. I want you to name a turn based JRPG (which means it should have the same type of combat) with a more complex customization system. And complexity is really simple to define - how many components the system has and how they interact with each other. If you compare to famous JRPGs like Persona and SMT series, pokemon, Octopath Traveler, Dragon Quest, etc, they all have much simpler system and gameplay mechanics.

No, this is just your bias speaking and preventing you from being logical and rational.
Man, you talk about being logical and rational when your example of a JRPG is Dwarf Fortress? Lmao. Just acknowledge that you don't play jRPGs and don't enjoy turn based JRPG combat, don't make a fool of yourself.

With 10 characters, the already absurd balancing debt just implodes to a muddled joke of a mess.
What balancing? Why the heck do you think all characters should have equal power? In a game where your goal is to get more and stronger companions? MGQP has balance based on its world building and game progression, so bosses and more important characters have better stats and traits. A godlike angel or Monster Queen is supposed to be more powerful than a no-name random monster (unless you work hard on making them so).
I definitely see all 3 as separate game, but it's kinda ridiculous you're going be one of those "just wade through like 20-30 hours THEN it stops sucking sorta but then again in part 3 it blows up again but don't worry just forget everything about the first two parts and stop being a dumb-dumb and rebuild your team right the third time AND THEN it gets good and balanced again."
I'm not sure about your reading comprehension. I said that the game has no obvious disbalance issues (like mages being way more powerful than fighters) if you play the part 1 version separately from part 2 (you can then port your saves anyway). Of course by this I never meant that all characters are roughly the same in power, but that let's say a generic mage is mostly as useful as a generic warrior. Part 1 is balanced for part 1 patch, part 2 is balanced for part 2 patch.

You're again mistaking complexity for actual difficulty. Complexity CAN be hard because it usually forces more margin for error, i.e. pushing a long series of keystrokes.

Difficulty generally requires actual skill or thought instead.
??? Where did I say anything about difficulty? Most people would enjoy a more complex game with a lower difficulty, than a hard but simplistic game. There's a reason why people prefer video games to chess. Chess is super simple, simpler than Warcraft 2, but it's a difficult game and only a special type of person enjoys it more than let's say Starcraft 2. Chess makes you think and is, potentially, mentally challenging (depending on the opponent), but it has very few components, which don't really interact with each other, which is why it's boring for most people.
The tl;dr is that you're spending a whole lot of time kissing a mirror and don't realize the extreme bias you have here. It's a great game but not the be-all of RPGs.

It just seems you like unnecessary complexity (you can ignore 90% of that if you know what you're doing), which is fine. But you should at least realize that it's just your personal taste and nothing to do with whether or not Paradox is actually an RPG great broadly speaking.

It's just what you specifically think you want. That is all.
Give me an example of a turn-based JRPG with better gameplay, and the reasons why you think it's better. Then we can talk.

What I can do latter in the day is to upload the version from bob without the picture folder so the file is reduced in size and let you transfert the pictures from the older version. But I came back from work in 6h.

Also, bob version is already in 3.02 on my gofile if you have problem with mega
Can you post the link, please. (English is not my native language, sorry)
