Another excellent entry by this Dev, though I do wish it had been longer - I think LoM spoiled me :)
If you liked the scope of LOM, I recommend checking out Wings of Empire - Droid's next epic story - (theme is Rome in space).

I've played the first 18 days on Steam (the dev branch for Morningstar) and it is coming along Very nicely.

The MC began his career in the Legion and then moved to becoming a pilot due to a battlefield injury.

He also has an unusual background - one of two special forces types of backgrounds - force recon or orbital assault.

Droid is still working on implementing both the operational space combat (I interpret that as 'fleet' on 'fleet' combat) as well as the fighter combat (not sure what game mechanic he will use - i.e. - what will take the place of match 3 or poker).

The story and characters are engaging, and the women are varied and hot!

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Wishlist him on Steam to help give him a larger bump so Steam will give him preferential treatment on their store page - helping others to find this gem, as well as other creations like LOM and Morningstar.

Cheers!! :coffee:

For those of you curious, Annie from SexPositiveGaming just did a very early preview.

It's still very early days; not yet a first release (Act I's main story is complete, but I've still got work to do on the sandbox and UI). You can check it out on the Morningstar Development Branch if you want

I know it is still very early in development, but so far Wings of Empire seems a bit more shallow than previous games, a lot more focused on the girls and the romance instead of world building and story.

......you made an obvious observation.........it was similar to how Morningstar was in the beginning......

Do you mean the beginning of the development or the completed game? I don't remember the development phase but I didn't get the same shallow feeling when I started playing Morningstar.

It's always going to be a potential problem in terms of showing people something in development. For what it's worth there's actually MORE world-building in WoE than there was in Morningstar at the same time; it's less enforced, since a lot of it is in optional dialog with Ao, Wulfgang and Selena, but there's about a hundred pages worth of optional back-story atm.

Again, this way of development won't be what everyone wants. Some people like to beaver away in silence for 18 months before releasing something that is complete and stand-alone. I prefer sharing it as I work on it, because I find motivation in having people play and enjoy it.

Thanks for sharing Wings of Empire as you develop it.

I, for one, can't wait for more content and back story.

I like learning about the VIP, her technomancer, my wingmates/legionnaire friends and how the empire works.

I also like the minor info shows you provide us with when we mouse over certain words - so we understand What a technomancer is, for example.

My challenge right now is that there is a lot more lore from conversations than I feel I have time for those conversations, which does add a nice bit of tension on how I develop my MC.

When do you think you will start dropping Beta branch content past day 18?

I'm very interested in the conversations post the MC 'escorting Valeria planetside' and how she keeps him close to her for future events.

Cheers!! :coffee:

Day 17 will be the end of Act I, so no (official) content beyond that until I finish off the sandbox content for people like Ao, Keira, Amber and Ayra.

Realistically there will be around 45 days of 'content' on a 17 day schedule, but the game will allow you to play beyond, in the same way Love of Magic did. As the game matures, that will feel less lopsided, while still having a full sandbox that never feels like you just want to skip time.

Well, I just shared my impression, having played a lot of LoM and even Morningstar twice. I believe you when you say there is more world-building, but your way of doing it this time isn't resonating with me. I enjoyed playing WoE, but certainly not as much as your previous games. Also, I don't remember having any problems with your way of development before, but apparently it isn't the kind that is very open to feedback, unfortunately.

Uhm...Have you played LoM and MS during early development? :)
Cause WoE has same feel as MS early or Lom Book2 early
