I don't know what to say. Every country has its own peculiarities. I mentioned La Linea earlier. I don't think everyone knows it. And we know little about that saga. I say little because there is more than one publication, so I imagine that if they made more than one, it means that it sold well enough. But not enough to be famous.
		
		
	 
It is a bit of a niche thing. ERB was known by it's Tarzan books, so much so, that the town he lived in, even changed it's name to Tarzania. But, the John Carter of Mars series, in spite of selling well, and having a rabid following, didn't appeal to the mainstream. Anyone really into Sci-Fi of the Golden Age, knows about it, but it is not as widespread as Tarzan.
Dejah Toris, or D.T., or DeeTee, is mentioned in many other books. One of the most famous is "Number of the Beast" by Robert Heinlein.
If you can, read it in English. I am sure that there is an omnibus edition in epub somewhere in the Internet.
