Does this game have an update per year or is that wrong? Will there be v1.4 this year? If so, I'll come back here next year waiting for 1.5.

Not yet. From the pattern I have seen here, the next update will drop... (the dev has shared enough about it, there is seomthing tangable there). The update AFTER this next one... i would bet against a v1.5 (on second read, this may be what you are saying. apologies if I misunderstood.)
Same pattern keeps repeating with fans who want to take on a hobby-project for some side cash. They get bored or overwhlemed or pressured and cant take being a professional.
I know nothing of this dev and wish them all the best as this is one of my favorite projects on this site. I can only connect the dots as I see this pattern repeat.
Dev on discord in the last six months said multiple times that it should be ready before end of the month/next month.

As I wrote above, the dev wants to release the update this month ... according to discord on a Friday ... so there are not many options left.
But I can understand the mistrust, so far the dev was not known for his reliability.
Which is a real shame because I think he has talent and I think it could be one of the “top” games on the site.

The wait between the two prior updates was also a LONG time. I'm not sure how many people complaining are aware of that, but as you say, its not out of line for how the process has gone since the start. Just need to wait.
I think that the outline and the ideas of the game are terrific. That's certainly what drew me to it in the first place. The renders of the female characters are good, though not special. I wish that the MC was both taller, more masculine and somewhat more assertive, though I understand that you have to get pretty good with the creation software to achieve that (some devs do).
But the user interface is both unique and horribly frustrating, and the dev seems to have gone out of his way to create something just for himself that makes things far more difficult for the player, and that's always something I have to shake my head at. Games that feature a high end UI can be awesome, but when that isn't accomplished, it often ends up being worse than something bare bones and simplistic could have been.

But there seem to be different "schools" of how to do it, and though I have no experience in it, there are a few devs who seem to be really good at it that are able to get guys right. My theory is MC will get taller and more assertive as the story unfolds. It's been a while since I've played through, but I'm pretty sure I recall a character mentioning MC looks taller around the time he first fucks Bianca.

Wow, I didn't guess at any of that. Perhaps I'm just taking everything too literally and at face value. I guess we'll see! I play to restart when the next release drops. I'll re-read everything then.
The text seems like it was written as if they where all related but the default text is them calling each other roommates? Is there an option to switch this for an easy fix? Or is it changing everyones title and hopping the text still makes sense?
relax after next update that is "almost" ready you will have to start from the beggining
