A relationship rarely opens up, and for good reason.
And yes, sex is very important in a couple. Why? Because it's the most intimate act you can share, and intimacy creates a bond. And if balancing a single bond is already complicated, things get even harder with more than one. Are there people who can do it? I doubt it. But if someone can do it, great. That's not the norm, though. And it's usually a very bad idea.
And there's also a lot of infantilism in the statement that sex is boring with just one person. That sounds like a little kid addicted to novelty, not a mature adult.
Because sex is an expression of love. As long as there is love how can it get old? But sometimes a couple needs help with that.
That is why there are therapists. If there is love, the therapist can help. If not...
But if you don't experience love, how sad for you.
Love can be tricky though. Sometimes a couple needs to separate to discover that they are more miserable apart than together. Ok, that is something to work with, now get busy and do the work to maintain your relationship. You will be so glad you did.

sorry but sex and love are different things. True you have sex with someone you love (at least I hope you do) but you can have sex without loving them.

Very good. Finally, the right questions are being asked. What if Hutch has a dark past or a secret that prevents him from standing up to the Boss and Vi because he feels guilty about the secret?
I'd say that sc did not put officegirl there with her big crush for no reason. One way or the other, I bet she makes use of it.
But since it the situation is no big surprise, perhaps sc will change her mind. Big surprises is the rule.
I'd say husband realizes that there is no reason to do anything as long as wife is a willing participant as she must certainly seem to be after that dinner at boss' house. Yes, she is protesting and not acting very willing except when they are actually doing it
but all he sees is them doing it and hears her cries of pleasure. Yes, he is experiencing grief and confusion right now, as is normal. The crunch comes when he gets ready to leave her and do something about the situation. The smart thing would be to leave town, and get a new start somewhere else. He might not be that smart.
Unless she were to come to him and confess what she has been doing and ask for forgiveness. That would be a different story depending on whether he can forgive her. But she does not do that so far.
It isn't about what strutting males can accomplish by confronting each other. It is about what wife finds in her heart. If she finds willingness to participate in sex with boss, there is no strut that will change that. I'm sure that if she were calling to husband for help from the bedroom, he would be right in there. The same as he started to do when he was in the woman's bathroom and she came in and boss came in and started on her. At first she was resisting and he was getting ready to come to her aid, but then he saw her giving in. No sense in interfering. Husband is not the wuss that so many take him to be.
I'm hearing wife to say to boss, "I'm with you. I won't keep pretending I'm not." Yes that does say her unwillingness has been a pretense, since from the start probably. But she still hates herself anyway. Humans are complex creatures.
Including those strutting males who think they can change what a woman finds in her heart by acting tough.

Yes she is. But I think your insight is on the shallow side. What she really needs it to know if the sex she has with boss is about him or her generic response to men in general.

I took this as part of wife dealing with her guilt. It was almost like she was giving him permission. It is also

says deserves attention. Why would anyone say those things if they felt degraded? She feels anger, but something else.
She feels relieved that that guy did not make her feel like boss does. That was an essential lesson she was seeking to
learn. Which is why, when boss asks her what she wants from him, she replies, "I want you to be loving and gentle with
me." This is something he has not been and is the other part of the puzzle she is trying to solve. She needs to feel that
he loves her. Whether he does or not.
Wife comes to believe it whether you the player do or not. As her comment as she leaves at the end of chapter 2 shows.
His assumption is that she truly wanted him and he needed to lie to her to help her accept that. This guy is not a good bet for a long term lover, but wife is going to make that bet anyway, based on what her heart tells her.
I think your assessment is unsympathetic. Wife deserves better than that. She is having trouble coming to terms with herself, husband and boss. We should wish her well in that journey. She still has a lot to learn. And dark times are probably ahead.

Your responses don't address any of the issues I brought up. There is a big difference between a woman asking you if her butt looks big in a particular outfit and her allowing herself to be manipulated because she is insecure about her attractiveness. Men, Christian in particular but it is clear others will follow, can use Vivian's insecurity about her looks to manipulate her into having sex them. And no, my analysis of why Vivian is at the bar is not shallow, yours is. What Vivian says is her motivation is not really her primary motivation. She is insecure about her looks because she is getting older. This is evidenced by both her words and actions. She is afraid Hutch might be attracted to Addison because Addison is younger and more attractive. Saying, "So what, she has feelings" does not address the issue I am raising. The issue is she is insecure about her attractiveness because she is getting older. If the main reason why she was in the bar was to see if someone else did it for her like Christian, then it would not have been as upset as she was that the guy did not want her. She thought he was attractive, which is why she smiled at him, but he did not think she was attractive, which made her sad. Christian was able to manipulate her in the car by telling her how she was more attractive than a 20 year old and playing on her insecurities about being 45. He used her insecurity to get his hooks deeper into her. That is different than saying, "You butt doesn't look fat in that dress." You equate normal reassurances, like saying, "That dress does not make you look fat" with manipulating a person's insecurities to dig their hooks into them. Where Vivian is being assaulted, she has tears in her eyes because she is crying. You can be crying when you are angry. If a woman is being assaulted it makes since that she would feel angry, and that she would be crying, but being assaulted would not make her feel powerful. Vivian does not look like she feels powerful in any of the scenes where she is being humiliated and abused. You wrote responses to my comments, but you did not address any of the points I brought up.
As far as being unsympathetic, it is unsympathetic to call the abuse and manipulation of a woman empowering. Vivian was not being empowered, she was being degraded and humiliated. I don't give her a pass for her lies, betrayals, or hypocrisy, but I oppose and call out her being abused, humiliated, and degraded by Christian.

All very true. The problem is that a lot of this goes under the viewer's radar because he sees a 40something with the body of a 20something. Of course we like to see that and, yes, we are happy for her (although, in contrast to others I don't feel under any obligation to be more sympathetic to Vivian than to any other character), but this of course takes away the context and the reality behind her motives and her inner state you rightly point out. This is a difficult structural problem of the VN: the dev is bold and innovative by having this age structure as an integral element to his story, on the other hand it's still a porn game and he wants to deliver eye candy. Consequence is, the viewer doesn't intuitively feel and see the reason for her insecurity and therefore for her behaviour. I asked months ago if some aspects of the storyline were even plausible and possible, if the visuals were differeent.
