VN - Ren'Py - Completed - My Sister, My Roommate [v1.69] [Sumodeine]

The game started so good and then the final update made it all fall apart. I will be vigilant towards this Dev for sure.

1. Rushed ending: A dozen girls in game and only one is implemented as final girl, which has an irreversible FAIL STATE long before the game ends and that Final Girl isn't even the title heroine? So the Dev is basically George W. during the 'Iraq Conflict'. Rushing in guns blazing and then leaving with the job half done and WMD unobtained, the fans are turning ISIS as we speak.
2. Hammer in the Moral, break the characters: The game basically tells you that Incest Incel relations with your sister best friend are bad and you should aim for the pure of heart, even though the entire game makes it clear that stated relationship is the prime focus of the game and once it reaches its cartasis gets a rush job treatment that feels like getting a handjob from your abusive teacher after being told what a 'good girl' you were.
3. No happy ending except the hard one: Erotic game that denies escapism unless you abstain from enjoying the content. If MC says yes to H after having a GF the game has NO payout, NONE! (see above) WTF?
4. Ryan Johnson Story Telling: Like Star Wars it makes you care and then leaves you hanging at the end by not delivering. If the MC is Rey, 'Roommate' is Finn, her story arch gets ended swiftly by an unknown boyfriend who just like Rose Tiko jumps into the story Arch and kills it. All my Expectations have been completely subverted
5. -Mom Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Solain are destroying the MC's manhood in the exit paragraph by 'cuckolding' themselves. Just like Leia and Holdo are trampling over Poe in Episode 8. You know, for good measure, even if he gets the ONE Girl by being a perfect husband.
6. Like in the Lord of the Rings The obvious hero isn't the one in the title. If the roommate is Frodo, her friend Molly is Samwise Gamgee, who helps get the 'precious' done aka the steady relationship status. But unlike Samwise, Molly does not return if you chase her off.
7. An irreversible Failstate that triggers at half game length (see above) WTF? and the Title Heroine isn't 'A' final girl WTF? (see above)
8. Like Gollum, Ashley, the girl that is ready to murder for the MC gets nothing, even though she worked the hardest, so Lunatist, so sad.
9. Chelsea and Cory become Goldmedalists if you have a threesome with them but then abandon you and you loos your ONE FINAL GIRL for being a cheat. Don't cash in on the threesome and C&C remain mediocre sportswomen but you retain your GF. What kind of moral conundrum is that, WTF?

TLR: If i had supported the Devi would have felt cheated, so now i am just disappointed.

The game is just amazing the renders are really good the characters are beautiful there's tons of content the story is interesting it's different there are some unexpected scenes and the only thing that dissapointed me a little was the end of the game but apart from that the game is amazing it definitely is worth playing.

was good until you reach the end and are basically told you can't have the ending you want "because society doesn't work like that", I don't play games to have experiences that mirror what would happen in the real world, I don't care how early on the author said it would never happen. Especially with the name being what it is.

There were only 2 main reasons I played this game and those were the comedy and Ashley.

Watching a college kid lose his virginity and then slowly come out of his shell was never going to end up with some of the girls he slept with. Most of them were looking for a fling, even his sister was only looking to help open him up and help him grow sexually.

Ashley was the stand out of the game for me. She was cute, she was vegan and she was absolutely insane. Sequel baited after the credits so now Sumo needs to make an Ashley sequel with her as protag or I may cry ... you wouldn't want the tiny girl to cry Sumo ... that would be mean.

Other than having an amazing character like Ash it also had some of the funniest scenes i've seen in a VN. Banter for the sake of banter especially banter aimed at Nikki losing her virginity to the entire football team ... well, nearly the entire team.

It made me giggle.

Even down to watching the big man D trying to be a dom and get put in his place by Jess the sub was hilarious.

I got a story I enjoyed with characters that made me laugh and an ending that left me with a cliffhanger.

So while I now sit and wonder if Ashley ever did get that veggie burger i'm left with forums to entertain me.

This is a waste of time to play if you’re interested in seeing the protagonist, Taylor end up in a relationship with any character who isn’t named Molly.
Just lackluster endings and epilogues. Yes the developer can create whatever story he wants and that's to be respected, but that’s doesn’t mean we will all agree on it. Those mentioned other characters being Cory, Skylar, Chelsea, Sarah, even Jessica, who all could of had their own routes. Especially with Cory and Skylar as it was clearly could've been more than a fling, what killed it for me. But it feels like the developer pulled the plug halfway excluding and erasing those characters from irrelevance, which is when the game started going downhill for me and force the players be with Molly or with nobody, with only Molly having an okay ending. What's just as worst is when MC is given the option to breakup with Molly and does breakup instead of keep cheating on her, MC is called an idiot by his Sister Taylor who's he's intimate with and by other characters for doing an honorable thing. Giving the vibes that the developer lost interest and wanting to rush and finish the game.

Having minimum choices wasn’t an issue, just the given choices didn’t seem to matter where it should’ve elsewhere in the story dealing with the relationships (like, to choose and be faithful to the girl of your choice) and the given choice options led you to worse outcomes than anything else with the given endings. Taylor didn't really get time to shine on his own without any assistance.

Now with the sister Nikki, I wasn’t expecting anything good happening with Nikki and apparently the developer mentioned it, but I can understand why others would feel so. Nikki, who is the title character and has the most screen-time after Taylor the protagonist, and despite forcing Taylor into relationships (Molly and the Ashley fiasco) Nikki kept being involved with him, more than any other supposed love interest , leaving mixed signals. It’s like the developer was trying hard to do something different or to subvert expectations, not to give an optional ending with Taylor and Nikki romantically together despite all the events the players seen them in. So, of course some players would want such an ending, wanting an Taylor & Nikki happy romance ending. I seen anybody with a different opinion (and not just the Nikki thing) from the developer will just get bombarded by a few users arguing and dismissing those opinions (non-demanding ones) and echoing whatever the developer said about the issue.

Also, It was weird how Nikki is this supposed sexually confident and liberated person not caring what people think of her “slutty” exploits (sex with first guy she meets, sports team, etc.), yet she cares about what people think if she bangs her twin brother and is in a relationship with him in private/secrecy. One other thing didn't like about Nikki's personality is she always mocking & joking at the expense of Taylor, making a butt-monkey of the MC. Same with some main girls in other games, yes they love & care about the MCs, but it's unnecessary comments and they come off as just assholes.

Maybe this game should’ve been called "My Roommate and Molly" or something like "Taylor’s Life". And maybe it should’ve been a Kinetic Novel, removing all choices, just telling the story that was intended.

This is one of those games you really have to play... Keep in mind that despite the over the top humor, this is a slice of life game and the story is quite logical.
The game makes fun of many AVN tropes without breaking immersion. The dialogue explores characters and their though process giving a commentary on how relationships work
Despite the title, the sister was never the focus of attention, just like Umberto Eco's "name of the rose" wasn't about a flower.
For those seeking incest , it has it. The realistic type of incest where "roommates" explore their feelings till the time to face reality comes...
The main dame, Molly is the perfect girlfriend and getting her out of her shell is a nice journey.
For those seeking other girls, there's plenty but due to their view on sex and relationship, they are just casual flings.. Don't worry! Before having to commit to Molly, you'll get the chance to fuck around. And lots of sex, however the best will be available for those who stick to their sweetheart.
The art shows quite the jump in quality. Evidently Sumodeine learned the trade and knows how to make art...
I'd recommend this game to people looking for character development, romance, the chance to kill a hated character, and those enjoying 4th wall breaking humor.

It's been a long-ass time since this game was released on this forum (October 2017 saw its first release), and while I thoroughly enjoyed the first few releases I forgot about this game's existence since the Volleyball event was a thing (about the time the character of Chelsea was introduced IIRC), this in conjunction with the long periods of time in-between the updates, made this happen for me (forgetting this game's existence), so this appearing on the Latest Update section came as a breath of fresh air and excitement since the last time I played it, which reminded me how much I enjoyed it.

Truly a rushed ending that pretty much invalidates any choices you made. Honestly not worth the effort.
It's either you go for the most boring of the characters or you get a bad end. One of the most unsatisfying endings I've ever read.

And so another game is finished and continues the unfortunate trend of having an extremely poorly written finale.

The renders were decent and the initial idea for the story was promising but that's about all the praise I can give here. Comedy is subjective and in my case it didn't do anything for me in this game, and some of the decisions made by characters required a lot of mental gymnastics to try to understand. The biggest issue however is the fact that you're railroaded into picking one girl if you want a half decent ending. This wouldn't really be an issue if it was obvious from the get go that this one girl was the main and only girl, but it instead introduced other characters who led you to believe you had options when in reality nothing you do with them matters in the end.

There's also the overall issue of Nikki but that's a whole other can of worms that I don't want to touch and is honestly not really relevant to my complaints with this game.

Overall a pretty poor game that honestly offers nothing new unless you decide to stick to the "intended" route, and even then you get a shoddy romance story at best.

The renders/character models are great. However, the story, especially the ending is terrible. There is no real way to romance the main female character in a meaningful way. Only one character route in the game gives a good ending all of the other routes just suddenly and unceremoniously stop. This game may be labeled as "v. 1.0" but the ending of this game feels extremely rushed and unfinished. This game has a lot of potential and to be honest I was enjoying it right until the end. If there were actual endings for all of the routes I would have rated this game much higher. This game to me is the equivalent of watching a great movie with a terrible ending.

Huge props to the dev to giving us more endings. I think the game feels far more complete now and I am glad to say I enjoyed the game much more now. Changed rating from a 2 to a 4. Great update. I recommend playing the game now. Everything below is my previous and outdated review.

This game seemed cool at the start, but after playing it a few times especially after the update, my opinion is leaning towards the game being kind of meh.

I feel like after the entire story, nothing really matters unless you go the Molly route. It's obvious from the ending that the game is solely focused on Molly which at least from the early on in the game I did not get that impression considering all the other LIs.

At the end of the game the relationships you get into do not matter, only the one with Molly. It seems really odd to allow yourself to get into other relationships, reject Molly, or even cheat on her and none of that matters in the end.

I also can't help but feel I was baited into expecting some type of relationship or fwb would happen with the sister considering the name of the game and the jerking off together early on and having sex with her. It's beyond strange to do all that just to help 'train' each other. I mean, at times it seems almost obvious that Nikki has developed some type of feelings for the brother. This along with the whole Molly mess just makes the game feel very rushed. It wasn't properly thought out and puts a sour taste in my mouth after a decent game besides these issues.

The game is worth a try but it feels rushed towards the end and sort of feels like the game tried to be something it wasn't.

Author despite wanting the story to go a very specific path leaves options in the game that let the player go against that path and ultimately lead the player into believing the story will play out a certain way, which ultimately kills the enjoyment of the game if you are there for that specific content. While creators are free to write and have a story go wherever they choose they do need to consider how the mechanics and choices they also add can lead people on and be conscious of those aspects while creating and writing their stories.

The game seriously lack in choices, you are forced to fuck lots of characters with no possibility to refuse, starting with a silicon/botox old woman, then there are the dumb vegan bimbo and the tattooed bimbo... There is also the sister, but it's understandable since she is the title character. What is less understandable is that a game that appeal to incest fetish already stated (well, the author stated it, on the forum) that the twin sister title character will not have any romantic interest ending and thus she is only a secondary supporting character too bad she is also the only interesting character, despite a mediocre chara design.
The game also try to be humorous, and it rarely work. It's full of auto references to the author previous game, references to patreon and to the porn VN scene and forth wall breaking. Globaly it break imersion and it's too insistent.
Edit after the 1.69 release : I'll add one star for the effort and for listening to your players.

A summary... this game is a good, decent game that is worth a quick play. I feel it is definitively not worthy of a 5 star ranking based off of its numerous flaws in basic game play. Anyone looking for a game flooded with a lot of nude scenes, this is the game for you!

This game is the fucking shit! It's hilarious, gripping, endearing, and hot as fuck!

The writing is the first and foremost highlight of the game. The humor is on point and there has been several occasions in which I've had to catch my breath after laughing so hard. I've given up trying to fap on my first playthrough of each release. I come for the story and humor the first time around and then I cum for the hot sex the second time around.

The relationships are great. I love these characters. The MC is a lovable loser in the Porky's and American Pie vein who, despite all indications to the contrary, is a level 100 pussy-slayer, thanks to the guidance and intervention of his titular sister. His goofiness and affability make him a pleasure as an MC, but their relationship is the strong foundation of this game.

The graphics are not cutting edge, but who gives a shit? Too many people think great graphics make a great game. Negative. There are tons of shit games that look great but very few great games. This game is one of the greats.

The story is ridiculous in the right way - it's 10% past the point of believable. That's the sweet spot for comedies. You're not sure what's gonna happen next, but you're always pleased and surprised by whatever does happen. Even better, there are now pussy hound and romance routes so this game has another dimension to it. You'll want to go back and try all routes. Additionally, the story also avoids and satirizes many of the porn game/VN tropes. Hallelujah! Thank you Jeebus!

I'm realizing this game is one of my stealth favorites. It never sticks out in my head, but once I'm playing it for the umpteenth time, I remember why I loved the shit out of this game in the first place.

This is not the average bro-sis incest fantasy, and I am glad it isn’t. For starters, this game, or rather visual novel, is a comedy. And a very good one too, it made me laugh to tears. That makes it stand out from many other games. And it’s damn sexy as well.

You play the introvert, nerdy, clueless, always lingering 18 years old Taylor, who is just starting his first year in college. He has spent most of his time in highschool doing nerdy things and he is still a virgin. As a result of an administrative mistake he and his twin sister, Nikki, become roommates in the college dorm.

Nikki is quite the opposite of Taylor. She is extrovert, energetic, charming and popular. She has not wasted her time in highschool and has fucked most of the boys in it (and out of it too, I suppose). She is a filthy slut by choice and she is proud of it. And what a lovely, adorable filthy slut she is. She is the star of this show.

Nikki takes the task upon her to guide and educate her “little brother” and make sure he will have a proper sex life. She has a very hands-on approach. And why should she only use her hands….

So, this game is not about you corrupting your pure and innocent sister. It is you being corrupted by your way more experienced twin half. Very reluctantly, of course……not! This is an essential difference from most of the other incest fantasies, and makes it way more enjoyable to me. Nikki is a smooth talker who can persuade anyone to do anything. She can lie through her teeth. I love it when Nikki comes up with some bullshit story or lewd initiative, and Taylor thinks “OMG, she can’t be serious!”, but does what his sister tells him anyway.

There is a lovely, slow burning love story in this game as well, and a variety of beautiful, sexy other girls Taylor can get involved with, including an obtrusive milf and teacher. Taylor should get some experience with the girls; he should not stick to the first one he meets.

A couple of warnings.

Better not play this game if you think you can or should romance your sister. If you love your sister, let her free. This story is not about a brother - sister relation but about a sister helping her brother having relations with others. Apparently, the developer is adamant about this, and I admire him for it.

And better not play this game if you can’t stand your sister fucking other guys. You can’t avoid to witness it early in the game. Later she askes you what content you are comfortable with, and what not, so I guess you are able to avoid some of the Nikki scenes if you want to. But I don’t suggest you to do it, simply because the content of this game is too funny, too lewd, too good to miss any of it.

edit: third warning. This is not a make your own story kind of story, where your choices have great influence. It is pretty linear, but I think it is perfect as it is.

There are a few great moments in this otherwise frustrating game.

The graphics are adequate and the girls look fine. The quality of writing is wildly inconsistent. The gameplay is very limited, as you are only occasionally allowed to make choices. The game will often force the player character to make terrible decisions, so it's hard to get invested in the story.

The sister is supposed to be the highlight of the game, but I found her to be the worst part of it. She starts off as a helpful mentor to the player character, but she quickly turns into an overbearing harpy. I just don't see the appeal in her and the story suffers dramatically because of it.
