I guess so, but honestly I like it, but the reason is probably because I don't watch anime at all and have nothing to compare it to.

Yeah that's probably fair, I do a lot of reading which includes manga and it's something that pops up a lot, so I'm likely also pretty jaded when it comes to that specific trope.

I just think it'd be a lot more interesting if the MC was distrusting and there was a bit more of a mindgame going on between them since neither of them asked for this situation and it pretty much sucks for the both of them.
