Yet again, someone is certain that the way they consume media is the only proper way, and no one else could possibly have a valid opinion about it. You're also making the same invalid comparison I see time and time again. Movies/TV shows/porn videos are NOT the same as a video game where you make choices for the main character. Video games inherently involve a more interactive mindset, and that means that there are a lot of people who choose to immerse in the MC of a video game they're playing, and want to customize that MC a little bit (and changing the name is an easy way to do that). It's not even necessarily self-inserting, it's closer to minor character creation. As an example of major media that does exactly this: Many of the Final Fantasy games, including games with very strong characterization (e.g. FF6 and FF7), allow renaming of some characters.

Beyond that, some people just prefer not to see certain names, and some people prefer to see certain specific names. There's at least one game where I have to change one of the LI names because it's a weird misspelling of the name that just annoys me every time I see it (Ursela, it just sounds dumb). Other times, I don't find the name at all attractive, but I don't want that to detract from the LI. In other instances, I've heard people mention that an LI shares a name with a hostile ex and they'd rather not see her name, and so on.

That the game has lewd content does not change any of the above whatsoever, particularly for people who play these games for the story rather than for the porn.

As for your "can't think of a single upside", that's a 'you' problem. In fact, there are no downsides to having the option to rename the MC. It's (usually) one extra screen for people who don't want to rename the MC, while it helps the people who do want to rename them in every scene where the MC's name is used. As for referencing the character in conversations? If you talk a lot about a given porn game that has a changeable MC name, they either use the default name or they just say "the MC". It's really that simple.

Also, when I talked about renaming characters other than the MC, I specifically mentioned URM, which requires zero effort from the dev, and has literally zero effect on other people playing the game.

I mentioned that I was frustrated by not being able to rename the MC. That's it. I didn't "push for" it. I mentioned it as something I was frustrated by. When I went to talk to the dev on his Discord, I discovered that, with absolutely no input from me, he was already implementing it in this version. That's hardly kneecapping his "writing possibilities". (The post you were responding to was me mentioning that character rename was already coming, because that's what the dev told me, and this version proved that he was not lying. My literal first post in this thread, I said this: " Name Change: While I strongly dislike not being able to rename the MC, URM rename and some code editing makes that a lot easier.", which is explicitly saying that while I'd find it nice, I can work around it.)

Also, you do realize that name variables exist, right? Renamed MCs can still be referred to by the name the player chose for them. And are, regularly, in a multitude of games (including this one, now). Do you really think, in the vast majority of western AVNs that let you rename the MC, literally NO ONE says the character's name, EVER? Yes, that would be weird. That is also not the case. But, yeah, it's very, very easy.

Hell, the dev of Stormside even has a neat little feature where, if the name the player entered is one of a set of names that have common nicknames, one of the girls will ask if it's okay for her to call the MC [nickname associated to the name entered] if there is one.

And I'm honestly just baffled that you went on such an aggressive and uninformed rant about how other people play things that don't affect you in the slightest.

You downplaying my opinion or story concerns doesn't make them trivial and I never even mentioned renaming characters other than the MC, so you're on your own on that tirade. None of my comments we're even close to aggressive and I never outright shat on your tastes like you did. I'm done here, no point in keeping this going in these conditions. A good game but have too many flashbacks and sex scenes are a bit short. I understand the dev wants to build up the backstory now that might be the root cause of the flashbacks and the many different point of view . I dont particularly enjoy the blue balled in one of the scene (seems to be use too many nowadays) sorry my train of thoughts is everywhere right now , i like the game but at the same time i hate it . Good start, but it might be a slow burn for me who enjoys more porn in their adult VN/Novel .

1. Female char models are very much to my liking , no oversize proportion, nicely detail and varied from the usual HS models.
2. Story seems to be building up to something interesting, flashbacks seems a bit too long but have nice details (in my humble opinion)
3. Content wise, there is ok amount to consume for the version (0.1.5)

Hope the best for the developer, putting this in my watch list. I will play again 3-6 month from now for more content to indulge.

The funniest thing about all of this is that there is one already, in this version. Starting a new game allows renaming the MC (and you can change it on an existing game by using a console command or URM to update the player_name variable). The three very-similar names I called out in my original post have also now been fixed, with the less-important two of the three names being changed (Ayase is the unchanged one, which makes sense with her prominence in the story so far).

The models here are really not bad. But the plot is complete bullshit. Why do I have to be a good guy in a porn game? I am interested in the content in such games, and the more diverse it will be the more interesting. And what is interesting in the same story made in a slightly different way? When it is not possible to choose practically anything, and what is possible does not affect anything. It's fucking boring. Remove and do not disgrace the "blackmail" tag. There is no such thing here, and with such a "vanilla" plot it cannot be. I do not like it when people are misled, especially when I myself turn out to be such a person.

Thank you all for your feedback and opinions. I admit there are a lot of things to improve upon, and some missing details. This is my first time, so I'm slowly learning and improving. Therefore somethings may require some time to fix since I don't have a lot of time to work on the game. I hope you will understand.

I'm also just getting used to this site as I'm pretty new here, I'll try to see if I can takeover this thread and deal with other things later as I'm quite busy with some other things and real life at the moment.
