Not true. For the first 6 months to 1 year the dev was actually very engaged with the project. We would get multiple posts a month talking about their plans and what they were working on along with sizable updates each month.
Sadly as time went on their motivation to work on the game has dried up, but the call of all that patron money is too strong to walk away from.
It sadly happens more often than not. The whole patreon style support system for these games just doesn't seem to work. It's too easy and tempting eventally to just drag things out and ride the free money for as long as possible.

It's because Patreon has no systems for punishing/terminating abusers beyond going after people whose accounts feature content the payment processors don't like. Patreon itself is getting a cut from accounts like SO's and only cares about money themselves. So, they're cool with grifting as long as it doesn't interfere with investor/processor money.
Systems like Patreons can work and get rid of the bad faithers, but most of these systems themselves are run by bad faithers.

Surely he warmed up to someone in the decade he's been making this game. At the very least make an effort to ensure it doesn't happen again when people giving you MONEY are left in the dark. Jesus Christ. Why do I bother working if I can just do what SO does. Dude cracked the code.

installed? Which version of newlife are you trying to open? Version 8.8b?The game is technically modifiable to an extent. In the 'additional_scenes' folder you can add your own custom scenes and proc them manually in the game or modify the official scenes that are there. There is also the ability to add custom NPCs in the 'newlife_gamedata' folder that will show up in your games. Unfortunately due to the source code not being released, there is little (to my knowledge) that we can do to mod or extend the game further.
The owner (SO - Splendid Ostrich) has in the past incorporated popular user custom scenes into the game officially (this can be seen in some of the scenes' code) and has continued to add scenes that may be modifiable so I don't think they are against modding per-se but they are certainly protective of the source code for their own reasons.

This guy made a mod that overwrites the og walk home from the club scene without having to do the scene testing on the weekend slot like usual.
Yep! There are some others like that out there. That's what I meant when I said you could modify the existing scenes in the 'official_content' folder. Any scene in that folder will proc as it normally would but if you modify those scenes and/or start other scenes with the official ones then you can expand upon the game.
I've attached two other NC modifications that have been made. To use, just overwrite what is in the 'offical_content' folder with the contents of the archive.
To be clear, I am not the creator of these two mods. I may have messed with them a bit (I've had them for a while so I can't remember if these are the originals I downloaded or not) but I take no credit for these. Just trying to share what I've got!
It's possible in theory to make Java mods for this game anyway, but you'd need to go off the decompiled source code, and Java decompiles very messily (mangled variable and method names). It can be done (that's how Minecraft modding happened, after all), but would be pretty painful.

As a female player, I like this game because of that and I hope the game will be completed, because honestly, it sucks visiting this site for years and barely finding games like this.
