Thought v.054 was uncensored? Is there something I need to do to remove the mosaics I'm seeing?

Update:

2-3 days till reworking done
To be honest, 2-3 days for a "better unremovable censor" feels like an AAA Company telling me "We're delaying the game 3 days so we can put a DRM in it"

Ugh. The fact that not only the reason for the delay is the censor but it might make it unremovable quite much pisses me off a lot...Again, not at D-LIS.

Wow. I was simply joking about problems on review stage. If DLsite so desires, we really will see full release in the next month. I guess, outstanding quality garnering such following played evil joke on D-Lis, talk about good intentions.

I dont know why everyone thinks it will be a removeable censor. The author is clearly hard baking these mosaics in since he seems like he is scared shitless of the laws. either way the censor will not be removed if it is hard baked in. someone will have to redraw it or AI reconstruct it, thus it will not be the Dlis original art. pretty sure the last few beta updates had unremovable censored already baked in.

Once there was a case like this in Japan.
A cartoonist was arrested because the son of a politician would not stop reading pornographic books.
I don't think there is one now, but there was also a case where a person was arrested for being difficult.
In Japan, if you sell pornographic works uncensored, you will be arrested!
DLsite has to be strict because selling uncensored works can lead to arrest and company bankruptcy!

Like I said before, as an adult game shop, there's ways around this.

To me, them changing the way they operate is hard, but not impossible and not that expensive. Steam doesn't have a problem releasing Japanese games without a hard baked censor, and neither do other websites. Why? Because they don't operate in Japan, and thus don't have to obey such absurd and hideous laws.

The way to go is simple; DLSITE wants to sell to everyone? Then they should stop operating in Japan as a company, as go to another country just as the "office building" for this company. It might be initially costly to migrate(Although, they wouldn't even have to, servers are servers), but on the long run they would benefit from more sales, cause I NEVER buy censored games, I always download them, which I wouldn't do in most cases if they weren't censored.

Until they decide to grow some balls and act on this, I will continue my "childish" rebellion against DLsite and censored works that come hard baked in.

So does that mean it'll have an impact on whether we'll be able to actually de-censor it once it releases?

He says he might need to go in and remake over 100 images just to get a damn censor in, unless he's able to figure out an alternative way. He's "a little overwhelmed" at the moment. I feel really bad for him...
So much effort just for the rest of the world to waste more effort on decensoring it. What a waste of time. Jap has one of the dumbest laws.

Why doesn't he sell his game via Patreon or Subscribestar?

is that a dumb question?
I think he might be using some kind of japanese equivalent of patreon? Idk about sub, but last I checked, patr prohibits content with rape or animals. Probably even if those animals are monsters that merely have mild resemblance. Either way, you might get into trouble and get a mild headache.

If is not a Dl-Site exclusive, at the moment is not listed as such, he will probably upload a censurable or uncesored version on some other smaller platform :BootyTime:.
In the meantime, is it me or you can recognize millennials from gen z here from the punctuation and grammar? Like the correct use of capital letters and the full stop at the end of a single line reply? I am a bored Italian millennials :HideThePain:.

and there is no other platform where to sell the game? I don't know (steam?) I saw that many people recommended him to use steam but... he doesn't even read them, is there a law so that he can't use steam or something like that?
They would need a publisher to release it on steam uncensored since you can't just use a different site to get around your own country's laws. There's a bigger issue though which I will put below.

I wouldn't use Steam as an example here. Steam's issues with japanese games are well documented at this point. For instance, they recently banned Chaos Head Noah, though that was overturned which is extremely rare when they do that. More cynical minds would say it is because Valve at the time was recently showing off the Steam Deck in Japan and it was a bad look that they had banned a game that Nintendo had no problem with. They mentioned there would be changes going forward with this kind of thing that would hopefully eliminate or reduce the chances of it happening, but they proved that it was likely a lie as when Jast asked about looking at Full Metal Daemon Muramasa, Valve said "We are not re-reviewing previously banned apps." This game was allowed just fine at GOG and has a streamer mode.

Whatever the case, Valve or somebody at Valve doesn't appear to like many japanese games as evidenced by how many of them get banned or rejected despite being within the terms of service, or even outright safe for work versions safe to stream on youtube or twitch. They banned the SFW version of Bokuten because the publisher forgot one or two images in the files. These images were not accessible without specific tools. And of course, many japanese publishers outright don't even try to release a game uncensored, because that increases the chance of getting rejected or banned. And I repeat that rejections or bans are very rarely overturned. So it's no wonder why so many publishers don't take a chance and just put out a patch on their site for a sfw steam version (and even then this can cause the game to get banned, and publishers aren't allowed to even mention it on the store or forums).

My point is, Steam isn't the silver bullet people want it to be in this situation. Dlis would need a publisher to publish the uncensored version, and there's always the chance that it gets rejected or banned somewhere down the line. That said, it's likely that there will be at least a partial uncensor patch unofficially since a good chunk of what is in version 0.54 is uncensored. From what I remembered, all of the assets were originally uncensored, but at some point in the last couple years they began censoring new assets. It's likely what tripped DLSite was seeing the older assets that were uncensored. It sucks that Dlsite didn't want it as is, but I have heard of incidents where publishers and distributors got in trouble for selling works that weren't considered to be censored enough.

Japanese lawmakers are largely dinosaurs at this point who don't really see the need or desire to reduce or remove the censorship laws. And because it was pretty easy to just remove the mosaic for us, it would have been just as easy for Japanese people to use those tools and remove the censorship. I assume DLSite doesn't want to look like they are just skirting around the law, otherwise pretty much any Unity game could have this done and basically be sold more or less uncensored if you know how to patch it. The good news is that these laws likely won't be there forever as there are more and more younger politicians that came from manga/anime/game creating backgrounds that have pushed to have these laws removed or at least reduced. It will just take time because Japan seems to move at a snails pace when it comes to policy changes.

Yea I agree, it is always just stupid seeing people say "why doesn't he just publish on another site" since for D-lis himself it is not possible. You need another publisher for that. Also, only looking at the financial aspect, it doesn't make sense for him to do it right now: if it's for example Steam+Kagura, then both take a cut from the price of the game while on Dlsite you only have one. Also, the game would need a translation and a simple MTL wouldn't cut it so the publisher would have to translate it themselves which (as we all know) takes a very long time to do. After that they would also need to uncensor it, which again takes some time for it to afterwards land in the west, where at best it reaches maybe a fraction of the sales it reaches in Japan.

So tell me people: Why would D-lis fuck himself even more for a few idiots complaining here that he can't break the fucking law? If you don't want to buy it don't, but don't complain about D-lis doing something wrong...
