Ok, I think it's time to kick the game off the SSD. Too bad .... A super game with the best kink skill system in my opinion. There are loads of crap games here on F95, why do the good games die and the crap continues to be developed. Very sad look ....

I recommend to be sad, but not pissed off. We get this stuff here for free and he stopped billing patreon. If he stops his hobby, try no to be angry.
Sorry, not me. I didn't get it for free. And many people have been discussing back and forth about this, so let's not get into that type of reasoning anymore, mate...

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like a lot of games are getting abandonned recently, or take years, and years to be finished. Is there an explanation for that ?

Not really, I think the ratio of abandoned games hasn't changed, and honestly I don't think a game taking years to be finished is unusual If you want a bit of quality rendering takes time specially since this is a side job for most developers who cannot afford this to become their main source of income.

Usually the big red flag is when the developer starts developing a second game without finishing the first, these things never end well and usually end with one or both games getting abandoned, I think it kinda happened here judging by their patreon post from long ago.

Still I wouldn't completely consider this abandoned, I have seen many developers disappear for months sometimes even a year and then resume the development, but I wouldn't get my hopes up either, it's better if you move to other games and if this comes back then great and if not then hopefully you find something new and better.

The games that don't pull in enough income for the author to justify continuing with, usually get abandoned. That is unless it's their hobby and they have a job that supports them normally.

The games that *do* pull in enough income (or vast amounts of it), usually tend to get milked out for years for maximum profit, padded with content that they never really needed. I've seen a handful of games that aren't that way, where the developer is genuinely working hard with monthly (or more frequent) updates that contribute to their games.

By-and-large that's usually what ends up happening - the producers stay (and often get milked), the non-producers usually tend to die off. And it's unfortunate, because some of the games that aren't well funded are amazing games.

If the game doesn't make money, it's alot of time and work(and money if you're using DAZ models) for nothing but empty praise from randos who stole your stuff.

Oh, and you might brick your PC during the long hours of rendering if you don't have a high-end rig.

If it does make money, there's now alot of pressure which can turn into writer's(programmer's?) block, which then incurs more pressure and anger, increasing stress and prolonging the blockage in a self-perpetuating cycle. Even in a best-case scenario where that doesn't happen the temptation to milk it as long as possible is one few can resist.

I've long toyed with the idea of trying to make my own game but I know myself well enough to know I am exactly the guy who won't finish it if it's not making money, and would find it difficult to resist needlessly dragging it out if it does. lol

It's almost always sad when a game gets abandoned, but especially when the game is so well polished and adored by fans. At times like these I hold a secret hope that a fan of the game with capabilities for development would reach out to the dev and try to convince to hand the project over to the fan so it could continue its life.
