I'm a developer, I understand the difficulties of developing a game, and, if you don't have a clear Schedule or already written story that you need/want to follow, You'll be lost on the middle of the project, and, in case the game gain some audience, you CANNOT let this change your schedule to start to put more unnecessary things on the game, a lot more of options or routes, Imagine this, for each new route, you need to almost rewrite the entire game to have that possibility, so, we see this happens do movies, Animes, everytime that reaches some kind of audience, the producers start to extent things. Don't do that, make it simple and stick to the original project, is better. Want to grow, or do something more complex, complete or challenging? Take advantage of the audience and create a new project.
yeah, Babylon 5 is the greatest example of having the story beforehand the only difference is that they thought it might be cut to 4 seasons and later got approved to 5 seasons. They kept the special affects and costs down and relied on fantastic actors, execution and writing.

"I don't care how badly people are treated as long as I get to consume something on schedule" is a terrible take. Even ignoring how many AAA games release buggy and unfinished.
There is no schedule and yet after a month of silence Nosy still can't hit the release date stated in patreon posts. AAA games are bugged because of accountants, patreon games are bugged because of poor skillset.

"I don't care about actually releasing a product in any reasonable amount of time so long as people I don't know feel good" is also a terrible take, and assumes all the creatives are being entirely good faith when they say the product is 'not ready', when they get paid to make the product.

There is a lot of space between those statements. Indie developers of regular games that are not getting their funding from subscribers can take any time they want. Sure, sometimes it doesn't work and the game doesn't come out but at least, unlike those, who get funding from people on month-to-month basis, they have no real incentive to prolong development of their game except their own well-being. Well, maybe except for Team Cherry, who did it just for shits and giggles. :)

Let's all just be honest here, the update (which was "just around the corner"...2 weeks ago) is simply inexcusably slow to come out. Being realistic, he has a week to release it, and if it doesn't, it'll be Christmas and New Years by then and we won't see it til 2026.

I understand and appreciate the fact he's a solo developer working on a pretty beefy project, but let's also be honest: his hardcore fans are still paying for his Patreon, and it's a solid core, he has no reason to rush. But also, the last major update came out 4 months ago, and this is after he said he reduced his hours at his normal job to put more time towards this.

It's not like he's drawing all the art by hand or anything either, it's AI. I can't say I know all the coding that goes into the game, but it's been a long time for a game like this, especially one he's allegedly been putting so much time towards. And being realistic, what we're going to get is maybe 2 hours of new material, and that's if you don't rush through the scenes. 4 months for 2 hours is a rough deal no matter how you slice it.

In short, I really like the game, and I hope it continues being developed and does well, but I honestly think Nosy needs to either cut back on the feature creep and keep the "core" of the game like it was in the earlier updates with more minor additions, or find someone to help him develop, otherwise, the dev time is going to continue to balloon. I appreciate that he has a lot of neat ideas for the game, but if it takes nearly half a year to implement them, I'm not sure I see the point.

He is just milking it hahahhaa.. He knows his loyal supporter will not complain. Why work hard if you can relax and release it after 3 to 4 months.. He can finish it in one month and release it always after 3 months

Fair, but that's not what I was responding in defense of.
I was responding to someone saying crunch is an acceptable practice if it results in a consistent release schedule.
Nosy isn't consistent and hasn't been for months now, I said as much in my feedback when I unsubbed back in July. But anyone using their dissatisfaction to advocate for mistreatment of workers needs to re-examine their priorities.
Oh and while I'm in a preachy mood, if you know the person or not shouldn't factor in to how well you think they should be treated.

Last update was almost 3 months ago (22/9) not 4, just saying...

I have to agree the incentive structure from patreon at critical mass becomes a disincentive structure. So if I am looking at the numbers correctly. Nosy at current has 4.2k members so even if they all only have the min support level of 6 dollars a month that is $25200 a month minus 10% to patreon that is $22600 a month (and this isn't including other platforms of revenue streams). He could absolutely hire a person to help with that kind of money coming in (hell he could probably outsource everything to India with that money).

Now lets assume the dev is amoral. Once the game is far enough to have enough content and he has enough simps er Patrons giving him money monthly there is now an incentive to slow down updates as increasing the development time means increasing the time and total amount they donate. Also, during that time he is probably still increasing subscribers as new people to the game may have no idea of dev time delays.

This is why you see a ton of games release really constantly for 3-5 updates and then slowly take longer and longer especially before content people were waiting for.

I am not saying Nosy is doing this but there is an incentive to do so.

No one is a simp and second if you do not like waiting you can stop playing and move on. And lastly a lot of people are not buying the sub.

Not going to excuse the lateness, but want to point out after trying out SwarmUI to make some AI art it's not like you tell it once what you want and you get exactly what you want. Often it takes many attempts to get the right picture, and it may still require editing to finalize the image to something usable. AI slop is all over a lot of these games, and you can often see the AI bits (extra fingers, weird positions, and so on) but AI Art doesn't mean a one and done thing either.

There are about 1300 paid subscribers. After all taxes and fees he gets 4-6k. Depends on how much there are high tier subs. That's a lot for a one year game but I don't think it worth to hire another guy at the moment

That is a lie.. Does anyone in the patreon complain there or they just accept the delays like a simp hahahahaa.. Patreon members are the reason why Nosy is delaying the game

Of course they do, but he has a lot of simps on Discord who are constantly riding his dick and telling him to take a break after all the hard work on this update :). Shit, even here people tell you to stop complaining and move on.
