Since you chose not to read the rest of the post, which I find very rude, I suppose I'll address your point but refrain from further discussion with you.I stopped reading here, you might have some good points later sorry. Just wanted to say this is a misinterpretation of the fundamental premise - the wife is his employer. She hired him, she found him, and he knows she's the one he needs to kiss up to. A naive wife. Many such cases IRL.
I know she is his employer. But she hired him to be a caretaker for her husband. Would you act like you own the universe on your introduction day, be rude and dismissive towards the person you're supposed to be working with? And wouldn't a normal, loving wife accept such behavior toward her husband? Any normal person, after that introduction, would say the following: Thank you for coming here today, but unfortunately, you're not suitable for us. Even considering their bad current situation.
The worst case scenario that could still be swallowed would be if their situation were much worse and the wife admitted that the man was being a scumbag. But then again, it would have been necessary to add some redeeming qualities to the antagonist so that his plans for the protagonist's family could work. Sexual dissatisfaction is too weak an excuse to start fucking such scum. Some people like such tropes, but they are only suitable for porn stories, where focus shifter toward porn content, rather than character interactions and plot development. Here, on the other hand, the story seems to have started out rather seriously, raising expectations accordingly.
