The game gives you hint about strong lights incapacitating the monster but I don't understand either. Maybe don't move when the lights are out?

nah the spider is basically peanut, it will move when lights is off
so move somewhat close to it (roughly 2 char space), when light go off walk away from it. when light is back on sprint pass it and hope light doesnt go off again too soon
