This is kinda like a spin off from the first one.
The first is still vampires and it has a male MC. Panacea is a sort of sequel to the first Occultus, it has the main vamp girl from the first in it and follows the story of their blood.
This is more of an alt dimension. It has a familiar named character in an entirely different role and digs deeper into the vamp side through the eyes of a human. It has a private eye, noir theme going on.
You don't need to have played the first Occultus or Panacea to play this.

I played and loved all three.
I agree with your summary. While neither is required to play this, if anyone enjoyed this one, they will most likely like the others too.
Can't wait for what comes next...

Yes it's complete, BeCe was considering fleshing out some of the content but instead focused on O
oD and future gamesEDIT - I'd been talking in the Panacea thread recently and got them mixed up, the possible fleshed out content was for that game, Daughter of Darkness is finished, BC is working on the Keres side story and putting together ideas for his new game

well well well, it was all a bit anticlimactic but I liked it, I really liked the finale with Ash, she is a very fun character and I like her chemistry with Malady.
Seeing what else there was I discovered that you can get together with Trinidy that was a surprise but what was a surprise was what was underneath her innocent face and golden pigtails, I liked it a lot, it makes it very difficult for me to choose which of the two I like more.
I can't wait to see how they level up the next time, although I'm a little sad that there isn't a sequel to Panacea, I love it too much, I would recommend playing it if you liked this one.

"sad face" ahh it's over. It was a cool Vamp story. I did wish those cool dreams the MC had were hints she is the daughter of a Vampire Queen. The fact she was not meant to be born in the first place,was little confusing to me, that and it would have been neat to see an Route where Cerys found Mal and got her back, for an Mal evil route or evil ending. Cerys was written really fun,scary & sexy at the same time. If that makes any sense. Well guess will have to wait for the third instalment. 5/5 story.

I imagine a lot of Malady's backstory, her mother, dreams... Will be expanded next game at least that's what the story seemed to tease...

grr, but I can't wait, Oh Well, it was a good game. Are there any other Female Protagonist Vamp games, or even, Guy gets turned into a girl like "Alone Amongst Demons" Vamp or demon Games that are similar while waiting. "evil grin'. I prefer female protagonists though

You'd think the update being called Chapter Final and the text of the change log would be hints
So here we have a Dev who is clearly improving all the time, and who has finished 3 games in a couple of years for each, and where each game has a good amount of content but doesn't outstay it's welcome.

I like the game. My main gripe with it is probably that it cannot really decide if it wants to be slice of life or a mystery adventure. The plot indicates depth that isn't quite there while at the same time there are slice of life dating sim elements that dilute the vampire plot. It's one of those cases where I felt the author lost focus because of the need to include relationship themes and I think this can be done much better in terms of writing.
But it's still one of the best vampire AVNs I have played. I loved both Malady and Ash even though I would have expected more tension following the events in the novel. And I also thought that the initial noir detective mystery was a nice premise, even though it was somewhat abandoned along the way. My impression is that this happened due to the fact that in the beginning Malady was driving the plot with her investigation. Her choices decided where we went as viewers. But later and also due to some 'tell and don't show' this approach was abandoned and the plot was pretty much driven by decisions of vampires because they knew how the game was being played. It's an understandable turn of events but I also think it was kind of a self-inflicted trap in terms of storytelling. Malady was written into a corner in which she was completely clueless and she lost agency as a result of it.
I think one of the most interesting aspects of good vampire novels is that humans prevail because vampires have weaknesses too. They are not superheroes which you have to join in order to survive. Instead, they have unique strengths and weaknesses that can be played by humans and other races. And that is something many VNs don't seem to value as a storytelling opportunity. You get the impression that becoming a vampire is always an upgrade with the slight downside of blood-addiction, but they don't see it as the curse that it was in original literature. For instance, the fact that some vampires only could walk in the dark never seemed to limit or hinder the villains in their pursuit. So it was a weakness without consequence.
Anyway it's still a 4/5 game for me. I appreciate the effort and the fact that you made a female protag AVN with a very relatable MC and in my favorite fantasy genre. There is a lot I like about this VN and maybe (hopefully?) there will be more stories in this world.
