Time for a Fake Update... early because I forgot last month.

Another month another excuse. I got sick with the bullshits... nothing new it's a day that ends in -day. So, the game... the game... working on it? Hard drive broke? Cat pissed on laptop? Got arrested and convicted in Australia? Decided to do a remake in 3D while waiting for Godot? Steam screwed me over with thw whole no PayPal for pr0n... I had to console LeBron James because of his hurt butthole?
There's 6 years of material reread, any of one of them.

I'm a liar, not a crook, so your patreon money is safe... until I release then, all those back payments I will be making cha ching! cha ching! cha ching! And overdrafting your bank accounts.

Another month, and another update! Last time I mentioned some family-related issues, which I have been handling. It's nothing too serious, but I needed to do some back-and-forth traveling for a while and haven't been able to focus on other things much. Fortunately, those issues are mostly in order again.

Of course, when it rains, it pours, and I had to finally buy a new computer as my old one fried itself after ten years of loyal service. Press F. My new rig is pretty powerful with a Ryzen 9 and GeForce RTX 5080, hopefully it will last as long as the old one. The worst part is probably copying and installing all the data and programs into the new computer. I even bought a SATA hard-drive disk copying device just for this, but it was too much for my old Seagate main disk, and the hard drive apparently overheated and died during the copying. Top quality from Seagate once again. Fortunately, all the data is backed up by Backblaze, but it takes forever to compress and download terabytes of data with my internet speed. I have already downloaded the most important things, so I can get back to work soon. I'll probably manage to restore everything in a week or so. As an extra challenge the drive letters (C, D, E etc.) also changed, so now many of my files (like Blender files with texture paths etc.) are referencing wrong drives and files. I'll have to fix up the paths with scripts or manually.

Other than those issues, things are looking pretty good. Once I get the backups sorted out, I'll see if I can release the 3D demo at some point. It's a quick little demo to showcase some new things as I have discussed in some previous updates. After that, it will be time to get that Offcuts 0.4 released. With any luck, everything could happen before the end of the year (or a few weeks after as I'll have a slightly longer winter vacation there).

As always, I'm not going to take any Patreon payments until Offcuts 0.4 is out. I'll temporarily suspend my Patreon at the end of each month until then. Thanks for your endless patience!

LOL nobody believes this shit.

First of all if a single component dies on your machine it doesn't magically take all the other components with it. For instance if your CPU, MOBO, or GPU dies it doesn't affect your storage drives at all. You can literally unplug your storage drives as long as the drive is not encrypted with Bitlocker or something like that, and plug them into your new system. You won't be able to boot into your previous operating system and you won't be able to open programs due to missing registry files, but all the work / saves files are still there and navigable. All you have to do is reinstall the software and copy over the work files.

The only thing that would kill all components is if something caught fire and destroyed the entire computer.

If if your hard drive dies due to a faulty read head or fried PCB, you can take it to a data recovery shop as long the magnetic disks aren't scratched, and the boot sector module is still intact.

Also the likelihood of a hard drive overheating is very low. They run at a constant 6 watt of power after initial spin up sequence of 20 watts. Unless you toss like a quilted blanket over them, as long as half the hard drive is exposed to air, it should be able to passively dissipate most heat.

Also he is back to his own typical bs about long vacation and plenty of time to work on the game, and how it will be release by end of the year / winter holiday, summer break. Which he always come back saying woops I got X illness from my vacation.

With any luck, everything could happen before the end of the year (or a few weeks after as I'll have a slightly longer winter vacation there).

Next excuse is a snapping turtle bit off his fingers, or he got his hand got mangled in 3D printer, CNC machine, hydraulic press. And needs 5 months to recover, but don't worry he has a long vacation to just finish proof reading what he finished 6 years ago.

It's the end of the month again, so it's time for a monthly update! As I mentioned in the last update, I have some big changes going on! New home, new job and all that stuff. The promised 0.4 release will hopefully happen very soon, but as a final insult my computer's data hard disk died or was damaged during the move and I'm currently slowly restoring everything important from backups. Most of the data should be safe in source control and backups, so hopefully nothing too major is missing. I even had FedEx send me a hard disk restore from Backblaze, where I have most of the 3d-related data as my internet connection is way too slow to download terabytes of data at the moment. It looks like most of the stuff is OK, except for some older 3d-scenes that are probably gone forever. Fortunately, that doesn't matter unless I want to do a lot of re-renders as the final .jpg files are safe.
New update in a few days once I have managed to wrestle everything in order!
And as always, I'm not going to take any Patreon payments until 0.4 is out (I'll temporarily suspend my Patreon at the end of each month until then).

So, TL;DR:
* Next release 0.4 will have Alice's full storyline.
* Some new tech in 0.4: interactive 3D and pre-rendered movies, at least a few of each. When I get the pipeline (and my skills) working smoothly, next releases should have more.
* After 0.4 I will try out a bit faster release schedule with partial updates instead of releasing large, complete routes that take ages to finish. We'll see how it goes.
* Steam release at some point after 0.4 is out. Steam has been pretty random with adult games, so who knows what can happen.
