Do you realize that the game was completed less than a year ago and only 28 reviews of the total 104 are newer than the final release of the game?
A lot more than a half of the reviewers couldn't possibly finish the game because the game itself wasn't finished when they reviewed it.
However, the story is pretty good, at least compared to about 99% of all the games you can find on F95. Whether you like it or not is just a matter of taste.
Maybe not the awesomenest (is that a word?) ending imaginable, but at least it has an ending (instead of being abandoned or cut short) and not the worst I've seen. From what I remember I actually kind of liked it.
Even if "awesomenest" is not a word, the rest of what you say is valid. Most people do not realize, but the ending of a story is by far the most difficult part to write. This is one reason that many games never get finished (besides burnout). Plus the writer knows everything is coming to an end. That is difficult for them, as well as the players.
In many ways, it is better to write the ending of a story first, and then start the story.

And by the way... in the future I would just say "not the most awesome". That comes from FAR too much proofreading  .

Is there a way to recruit all the girls in one playthru? I have some blank sections in the list. Also, I didn't realize Helen was a possibility until she is in my home telling the MC she is lonely and wishes the MC loved her and didn't only want to be friends, or something to that effect, but MC doesn't say he does love her. It seems to be treated as if I turned her down, but I never had a chance to recruit her or I would have. I'm at the point where glamour came down, sent Mayor to hell and I just told Amara that her accent was gone (Hollow's quest).

Also, where is the save dir? I've searched the entire appdata dir for any keyword pertaining to the name of the game and dev, but I can't find it. I searched by date and there isn't a folder there with an appropriate creation date so I must be looking in the wrong location.

I made a jukebox mod for the game to play the 80+ music tracks in the game. I started this mod around the same time as my gallery and walkthrough mods for the game but finally have a chance to complete it.

Ohhh ... the irony of gaming ... All is explained in the description: Rise up ! Keep on rising !
” Your family passed away in a horrible accident. Your entire world became a spiral of depression. Years of constant loneliness and guilt were all you knew. Now in your fifties, you find yourself at a crossroads.”

who is that monster in game and idk should i fight it or not
Do you even want to start the game?
Rise up ! Keep on rising !
”Cause MC stagnated long enough without your own insecurities.
Everything is in the mind of the beholder: the protagonist has anxiety for getting out of bed and talking to people. You can choose to heed the voice in his head telling him to wallow and die, or you can tell it your piece of mind, or you can tell him you agree and still get out of bed and talk to people, despite what it is telling you
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
HEre are some other players conclusions after the game:

hey all, I did search but I couldn't find my answer to my question? I'm at the part where Brianna is giving MC details on living with the harem? There are several groups, I'm inclined to pick the mommy group but I'm using the 0x52 mod and it seems that Breanna should be the MC's pick, buuuuuut, if I'm not mistaken Breanna can't get pregnant and I'm confused because as MC is sitting there deciding whom to choose he said " I wish that I could have sex with Breanna " , so I'm under the impression that Breanna and MC can't have sex? I am truly confused, who did everyone pick as their group? Does MC need to pick Breanna? will MC eventually have everyone living with him? I would really appreciate any help, thank you

Yeah, this was an amazing game. I loved the story all the way up to the end, which was IMHO a horrid disappointment. Really felt like a lot of storylines didn't get any closure and worst of all that your choices didn't matter. Still very worth a read though.

The whole point was Oroboros - the wheel of time, the wheel of history repeating itself, the human nature killing any purpose of becoming something more exhalted, as soon as whatever was ”wrong” with MC - the exhalted, inhuman, whole interesting anything about him - got ”exorcised” ... over ... and over ... and over again, until the story, plot and MC and the game became one empty husk of hasbeens.
Really felt like a lot of storylines didn't get any closure and worst of all that your choices didn't matter.
MC could not transcend his programming. In stark contrast, the Wachowsky Brothers Magnum Opus - the MAtrix - presents Neo who was a true masterpiece in writing a blundering antihero, on to stumbling him upwards to a hero and then accelerating his ascension to absolute Godhood.

From that top of Olympus plot and execution and action and story and endless paths of bewildering adventures, where the Matrix delivered a perfect story of human and machine working together to fight total and absolute annihilation of them both ... we are dragged into whatever this nitpicky, grindy, convoluted nihilistic chaos theory game here, where the same pitfalls come around with such distraught and complete precision. Basically, MC is right back to square one right at the moment the Nothingness Tsunami hits him, poetically right in his most utterly hapless form—senile, alone, blank, talking to the voices in his head.

ending. Endings that leave the entire story, like dream sequences, make the everything that happened meaningless.
