Between the last update and the end there seems to be a few dangling threads however, I do love the ending. It does seem a bit rushed but weirdly no matter how those threads resolved it seems as if this ending would have worked that's why I am conflicted. After a few updates this went from porn game to story with H scenes. And that's great, we value both. I think the conclusion was outstanding and you managed to give the game actual stakes that had a payoff. Generally act 3 is where most stories either stick the landing or drop the ball of a previously good story. Opinions may vary but you stuck the landing even if it seems like i missed the last third of the flight . A sacrifice should be just that, not cheap because it was really for nothing and all would be roses. Plus you gave a little glimmer of hope at the end. I think some comments here are just a response to the harem kink not being fully realized but I personally liked the turn where, let just say eyes were opened. Its was suddenly a new dynamic to the group and I thought it was a very clever way to challenge feelings vs duty. Anyway there are many things I feel you could have resolved and it does indeed see rushed, I seems like this was the planned end all along so I can't be mad at that.

The narrative changes abruptly every half hour, then the dev overuses the dragon as a crutch to just end it all.
There are several plot points that the dev simply decides not to explore, as if he was already tired of the game and just wanted to end it once and for all.

As I said, several things were promised but not delivered: Tien being "awesome" and the reason she's the whipping girl, Amy and the Choices mattering to something, Araceli date, Muriel and Priestess virginity (might there be other girls that were forgotten also), Pregnancies... and a whole bunch of other stuff that was teased but we don't get a proper visual feedback (not necessarily sexual)...

Dev even forgets Helen's name and calls her Heather in one of the last conversations in the game, this is quite symptomatic of him being fed up with the game in my opinion.


You're even defeating your own arguments by trying to came up with a fix for the ending yourself.
Although I agree, the ending could be a bit salvaged if, after the credits, images of the future in Aethernum were added. Showing the new life, a teenage Amy with her crown and MC with his wives and children... that would be really sweet and give a better closure.


Just google SOMA on steam, it's not a porn game tho. It's a horror similar to Alien Isolation and the plot is a about a dude that after a brainscan finds himself waking up years in an apocalyptic future in the body of a robot.
It has a similar concept to the whole PA thing (Personality Avatar scan).

Again, like I said on my rating, the ending isn't bad in a vaccum. It's the fact that there were so many girls and kinks introduced that were simply ignored or didn't have any payoff in the end that makes me mad about all of this.

The whole cult thing with the glamour on was promising so many hot moments, so many characters that never got the time to get their payoff. Breanna had an entire arc of "cant lose my virginity because you need my powers", it would've been so cool to try out how far both the MC and Breanna with experiment in order to avoid breaking the rule while still satisfying their love for each other. And the final scene, when there is no longer any need for her powers, one final goodbye was basically mandatory (she's the first girl we meet and the most important one...)

A great Story that was one of my favorites with one of the most damp squib endings I have seen in VN. So many dangling side stories left unfinished. It honestly took me some time to sit with it. Everyone has different wants from an AVN, but some mix of entertaining story, lewd action, and a decent conclusion. We get short changed often with Devs disappearing and not giving us a conclusion at all. I think I would have preferred that here over this ending.

The time is here. I am officially announcing On The Mountain Top as the next game from Professor Amethyst. I'm so excited about this project and I hope you'll indulge me for a little fanfare. I am working on Chapter 1 of OTMT right now. I'm at the 40% mark for completion of the first release.

I am including some files that you might be interested in. They are some of the very early raw renders. I haven't gotten to the first sex scene so I don't have anything fun for you this time. So, these are just some in-game shots of a handful of characters. They are unprocessed, raw renders so please keep that in mind.

There is also an MP3 you can download (Lyrics are in the 'unsyncedlyrics' field) . Which is one of many songs that will be included in the game. I don't do typical background music in my games. The music matches the scene. I have elected to do something which many folks will probably find upsetting. I hope I won't lose too many of you. To be safe I am electing to use AI generated music (I am using Suno for this). So, that I can put in as much music as I want without fear of copyright violations and isn't one of the many songs that you've heard over and over in other games. Most songs are just mood setters, but I will be including music with singing for some significant scenes. Each song I have takes hours of work to get exactly what I want. So, I hope you won't jump ship with the evil AI word. There are zero AI images. All the renders are 100% mine and done through DAZ and edited in GIMP.

I have also included a text file. This contains what I will use on F95 to describe the game. Including tags and developer notes. I highly encourage you to read it when time permits as that has all the info you really want.

Since this is the first release I have to customize the GUI, menus, etc. as well as the initial script shell and of course write the story and do the renders. So, I will likely not be releasing Chapter 1 until late December. I have turned off the Patreon payments for one more month. Starting in December I will start collecting again to help cover my expenses in creating the game. Thank you so much for all of your support. I can't wait for you to see what I'm working on.

I hoped for epilogues following the final decisions. I wanted at least a glimpse at what happens in the new world, depending on whether we pick Order, Chaos and such.

And I wonder also, wouldn't the universe also end anyway if the admin never makes these choices, by going into the little pocket reality instead? Would it mean the non-existence of universe two, or simply that he wouldn't get that final chance to influence it's future? In theory, the demon's alternative seems like a decent deal for MC, if it doesn't mean a fucked up universe 2. Without epilogues showing any of the new universe, it's hard to know for sure what impact these actions ever had. That's my issue with the ending.

Epilogues could still be added if author wanted to, I guess but I assume the current form is final.

Yeah, having just played through the game i feel epilogues or seeing the girls come back at the end or maybe having a way to choose your favorite girl and having a last interaction with your favorite would've really help make the ending more satisfying while still not having it be a happy ending.

I hope they don't put too many characters in this game though. One problem with On Distant Shores was that it felt like a lot of the characters didn't get enough screen time.

Finally got around to playing the last update and the ending is pretty bad. Yes, there were hints towards the world being a computer simulation. But I was hoping for a clever twist or something since that's a tired setup. Also, stuff just seems unresolved, like are all of the forgotten also being copied over to thew new system? If this was a simulation, where did all the setup/prophecy come from. From the conversation with the wife it didn't sound like they set it up when the MC was loaded into the system. Did the dev just get tired of this game and want to move on? I guess it's better than being abandoned.

One could've expanded on many things, but I actually didn't feel bad after finishing. Not sure I enjoyed my time in the game, too much cute girl depresso for my bleeding heart, but I liked the experience.

I'm actually quite perplexed by the game in hindsight, reading the comments. People getting the feeling of it being rushed and lazy is either true or perfectly meta, intentional and fittingly clever for the narrative of the ingame universe.

I actually found the ending to be quite cathartic. Nothing but the death of the MC really mattered or was even 'real' (unless we go into sentient AI debate), so I could easily wash myself off all the accumulated emotions. Not even uploaded MC cared much at the end, no hard feelings.

A final note from me, the author. What a huge undertaking this was for me. I'm glad I was finally able to complete the game. For those of you who are upset that the game did not live up to your expectations, I apologize. Like I've said many times, the game is flawed, because I am flawed. I'll say more in a spoiler:

Regardless, thank you to all of you who played. I hope you were able to enjoy something in it, even if it was hopelessly flawed. Coming from someone who battles clinical depression daily, it seems strange to not give a happy ending. But, I think sometimes we don't always get a happy ending and we have to try and find some kind of meaning in the cards we're dealt.

It might seem arrogant to mention, but for those who might be interested, I have started work on a new game. It will be a much less abstract and depressing game. Since it will be my second attempt at something like this, I hope I will have improved some. I should have more to share in a couple months. Until then, I wish you well.

Honestly no idea why you're apologising.

I can maybe understand why people who had followed development over the years were disappointed having built up expectations wrt various characters, but as a narrative exercise the whole thing worked absolutely fine for me playing it from start to finish. Maybe it was rushed in contrast with how it was originally planned, but it all made perfect sense in how it played out without feeling rushed to me. It''s just the story.

I guess it's difficult in that you can't provide details of the plot without giving away the ending. It's pretty clear from early on that it's a story-centred VN rather than a jolly porn-romp

Saying that, maybe something to hint at the potential joy he's experiencing in the new simulation would've been nice....... solely to help fight back the tears i was shedding during that end scene. i'm now just extremely sad
