Agree, at least they let us know. But I wonder why they didn’t reach out to a few of the other devs around. Someone might have been interested in pitching in for a cut.
It's the author that has the personal event, so unless they have a decent outline already it would be hard to move too far forward without the story itself.

It would honestly make more sense for the other two to help work with another Dev while waiting on their friend.

Sad news...but it would be a lot easier to understand if it wasn't just the writer that had to leave. I get that writers have their own style, but it's not rocket science to find someone willing to step in to finish the story (how complicated is the story after all, I mean really). Even a drop in quality of writing would have been easily tolerated given the circumstance.

Hello everyone,

We are deeply saddened to inform you that Sabitiger (our amazing author) has had to step away from the project indefinitely due to a family emergency. As many of you know, we had been working hard on Act 9 and it was to be our greatest and probably longest act yet, we had even hoped to have had a very steamy status update with teasers for everyone by now. But sadly this is not the case...

We are sorry to be the bearers of this incredibly sad news. Sabitiger wanted us to continue this amazing love story, but the past days have shown us that without him this story doesn't exist. We will be pausing all pledges indefinitely. We might try to finish Act 9 at some point in the future. But at this moment in time, we don't have the strength to continue.

Our team (Sabitiger, Moineau, and J. Nolan) was very close and we considered each other close friends, as you can probably understand, this sad news has drained us of our creativity, energy, and strength. We would have loved nothing more than to have been able to continue work on Oopsy Daisy Act 9. Sadly, we are not able to provide you with this glimmer of hope in this message.

The word “thank you” will never be enough to express our gratitude and appreciation for all you lovely people! We will forever be grateful to all of you lovely people for the opportunity you have given us to work on our dream project. Truly thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We will forever remember this time!

With love,
Moineau & John Nolan.

Damn, and here I just got into the game recently, RIP.
Give Sabitiger the best regards and fingers crossed for his difficult time.

Of course it's a pity when such a great project doesn't continue for the time being. In fact, far more games are abandoned than actually make it to the full version. And with most of them you don't even find out the reason, most of the time the people are suddenly gone. That's why it's great to at least get some official information. And the project is, as far as i understand, only paused for the time being, not given up. Of course there are people behind every project, and real life comes first.

Again best regards to Sabitiger. (y)And maybe the project will continue after all, when his family situation has improved again

Hello everyone here on this lovely thread,

LightmanP, already posted it. But we would like to also post it here from us.

P.S. Thank you to everyone on this thread who've helped us make this dream project a reality. We appreaciate all the support we received during the past few years of this project and we will miss all of you dearly.
We've seen some comments. So we'd like to address them with this one blob of text.

The writer of this story, Sabitiger, was also the creator of the story. He brought us all together and made us fall in-love with the story and project. We do have a story outline for the acts after Act 9. But we wanted to be honest with everyone, as this has left us completely drained of our energy, creativity and strength. Honestly, we're really sad that he had to leave. We understand that when things happen within your immediate circle, that's your first priority. Sabitiger has made it clear that he will not be returning back to VN's. And the past few days have shown us that without him we can't continue. We might still be recovering from the news ourselves, and in the future try and finish Act 9. But at this moment, we don't see a way of continuing. We love this story, it's our dream project. And we want to do justice to its characters, story and the author (Sabitiger). So we don't want to sell it off to another Dev or find a writer who quickly plops down some dialogue. So if we continue at some point in the future, it'll be as it was envisioned by Sabitiger. We hope you understand.

Thank you.
Love,
Moineau & J. Nolan

A family emergency that keeps you from making VNs for the rest of your life.
Also, the guy telling the news talks about their relationship in the past, as if they were never going to talk to their partner any more :WaitWhat:
I don't understand this type of situations, honestly, but at least they have been straightforward about it.

Great. Goodbye amazing game with so much potential. Sympathies for his emergency, but maybe there should some kind of contingency for this, especially if you have a team. It's kind of amazing how many devs for these games have emergencies that force them to abandon their games.

Oh well, put it in the bin with the other amazing abandoned games.

Often 1 person in a team carries the whole team. That was the story teller probably. Graphics was amazing, it was one of the few games I always looked forward to a new update...
