Not really sure, but maybe your save is too far forward for the new version. Try loading a previous save, maybe an autosave.

Is it intentional that neither of the choices in the most recent Update grants any points?
And that it seems to be VN-Mode instead of Sandbox-Mode? (I played Sandbox before and instead of traversing the Map, I decide via choices were to go with the most recent Update)

Overall, the Update had a strange vibe to it.

Sandbox mode returns next update after a brief opening event.
