The dev is clearly very much aware that this element of the story is going be unpopular with some players, so it's a deliberate choice. I'm not sure what they hope to achieve by it (it seems too mild to satisfy one player base, while plenty to annoy another), but it is what it is: If it seems important to their story to portray most of the characters as somewhat promiscuous, that's their call. Nothing I can't play through to get to the more interesting parts.

The Marina and Cat cliff-hangers were a depressing way to end the update though, but at least there's the reassurance that the MC may be able to do something about it.

I had the exact same reaction. The meta is strong with this game.

(I'd find the constant winking at the camera annoying in other games and it should still be handled with some caution, but here it becomes less grating as it is just a part of the world.)

I liked the update. I thought the Amber stuff was the best part of the whole update. Was really an emotional moment. And while the ending was dark and sad, hopefully the MC can intervene and save her/both of them.
