Since the MC can feel what the clone experiences (and Cat can as well) we can probably safely assume the clones aren't entirely "risk free", at least in terms of sensory transfer.This is the only thing in your argument that we don't actually even have a hint about yet. The assumption that the clones are risk-free is something that I'm sure is going to be tested in the story. I kinda hope they're not though, since that really would be pretty OP once he gets full control over it.
Especially if you're right about them using his other powers.
They don't transmit everything of course (like, the MC can't see through their eyes), but pleasure certainly seems to work, so that suggests pain does as well.
That could potentially be pretty detrimental if he can't either shut it off or at least dampen it somewhat. I'm inclined to think the link would just stop if the clone died, but you never know, it might send the MC into shock or something. If they make it so clone death = MC death then there are VERY few reasons to ever actually pull one out.
