I get that, I don't want to take away from people's comfort zone, if you're trying to escape from sex, angst, and reality, that's fine, nothing is wrong with that, that's the definition of Fluff, and I think this game was made with the intention of Fluff.

Where I think we differ, though, is how you view sexual situations, I don't think learning/discussing sex is perverted, I think it's as natural as talking about any other topic. I'm not looking for Teens- to go around getting busy or sexually molesting people, I'm not looking for them to start discussing which sort of birth control they prefer or who they'd rather try oral with, or something. I don't need the topic to be focused on actually arousing the viewers or the characters getting laid (of course, I'd love that, though!).

My argument is very much the same argument when the writing community complains about never seeing people go to the bathroom (I don't know if you've come across these complaints). This isn't about a toilet fetish, this is about humanizing our characters, when I say I want to see characters take a bathroom break, it's not because I have a fetish, or want to play with a toilet, it's because I'm feeling disconnected to the story, and think it's taking an unrealistic turn.

This whole situation is a very "everybody poops" scenario. Yes, I am a pervert, yes I love smut and will try everything to get it, but I don't think I'm being very unreasonable in wanting a wholesome romance story to understand that sex and reproduction can also be wholesome.


I mean, I don't think so? Sorry, I can be a little slow to other people's feelings. I don't mean to attack anybody, and I'm not upset from anything said here. I think this was a good, healthy argument, we got our opinions across, and I actually learned something about how others think. It also made me understand even more why OL didn't lean into the sex part of sexuality.

I'm pretty passionate, but I try to inject humor as much as I can, so my "no hard feelings" can translate over the internet. I also try to incorporate silly emojis, but sometimes I forget (my exclamation marks usually means I am laughing! ). Sorry, everyone, if anyone thought I was angry or offended! I'm cool with the situation.

I do understand the mentality don't get me wrong and I would 100% be open to a game like that but I think that's the root of it f it was a different game because would it be cool if we got a more options and could see a more intimate side to a character, Yeah it would be cool but with what GBP is doing here specifically with Our Life I think its very unlikely that itll happen since it seems like they wanna go for a more comfy/wholesome/sfw type of romance I think a good way to describe it is like a TV show marketed towards a Teenage Demographic but not really for anybody in general.

Also Ill note I don't really see a problem with anything presented here like I ain't like offended or anything I actually completely understand your point of view and would like to see a game similar to what you guys have pitched I'm just trying to give an argument as to why it wont happen based off what I've witnessed while lurking in GBP Discord and just kinda the overall vibe I get with the people in there, From what I've seen more people definitely seem to be into the wholesome side than the horny stuff since I see more people obsessing with the cutesy, comfy, safe or wholeseome aspects of the game over the more saucy bits and than you have the 18+ zone which is just people being really horny for their Our Life OCs and just posting thirst art. (I don't understand it but hey whatever makes them happy I guess)

But yeah would love to see GBP handle a more mature Our Life styled game I just don't think it'll be Beginnings & Always or Now & Forever.

I know they have a mature-ish 18+ untitled project (I haven't been subbed to the patreon for a few months due to adjusting my budget due to medical bills) but I don't know the progress on it.

From what I've seen its been radio silent I think its most likely on the back burner since they're lead is juggling two games while also consistently keeping the community up to date, I will most likely post here about it if I see anything though.

Personally, I 100% understand why they didn't want to include sex as a major aspect of the game. I'm totally fine with that. I would LOVE a game like this that explored those feelings/moments, but most companies wouldn't want to deal with that, and it's understandable to me. Fingers crossed that someone takes inspiration from these games and makes their own that include the more sexual themes.

I completely forgot how much of a douche the different versions of Shiloh can be mostly Bucket Hat Shiloh who is a fuckboy vlogger and Leon who is Shiloh but blonde and more of a dick, Also yeah Jeremy does look a lot younger I cant really place my finger as to why though.

Thats why I wrote "or so I think" because I'm dense about the tone kekeke. As long this aint becoming like the body argument on the other tread, everything is cool cool.

I don't even think it's a case of being dense, sometimes it's just difficult to measure the tone of a conversation until someone says something that shows they're blatantly offended and you think 'whoa - where tf did that come from?'. I'm definitely on Jiffie 's wavelength here where I'm (generally) pretty careful about punctuating comments with emoji's or 'lol' to show I'm not saying something in a serious/accusing/whatever tone, because of how easily people can get offended. Except when I can't be bothered. lol.

I also can't have put it any better then Jiffie did in how he replied to the people who replied to me regarding sex in this game, and viewing it as a very natural thing (so the absence feels just... strange? to me in a 'this is your romantic life story!' sort of game. lol). I don't have anything against those who prefer it without sex or have any sort of different opinion to me, I just wanted to voice how I personally felt about it and what felt 'missing' to me in this otherwise enjoyable game. Perhaps it's also because I'm so used to sex just being part of a relationship that I can't really imagine it without that kind of intimacy?

I actually like Shiloh as a character but yeah hes a cunt hell of the 5 random Shiloh's there's only 1 good version and its the version of him that becomes an accountant and actually becomes a more honest person he still has his quirks but at least hes trying to be more genuine and likeable and if you really dislike Shiloh there's also the version that just fucking disappears and doesn't come back.

As for Jeremy I realized why he looks like a baby and also weird to me its because its like a more prim and proper version of on one of his hair styles from XOXO Droplets even though his slicked back hair is objectively better.

The reply above beat me to it, but, yeah, Jeremy wears this hair in his main game, XOXO Droplets, I think it's the art style messing with you (I felt the same), this artist is more "round" and "Thick", which amplifies "baby" qualities if they're not a long and slim square jaw sprite.

Though, I do think Jeremy looked more mature than that photo, to when he was shown in the phone call chat with Shilo, Shilo, too, something about these new "mature" (I think they should be about 18-19 by now, maybe 20, forgot our age, they're a year or 2 younger than us, I believe) sprites is giving off a chibi/baby vibe, even younger than when you see Shilo in step 3. Oddly enough, they both kind of look like Dexter sporting different color schemes? I dunno, I like them, but something about them seems a lot different than how they originally looked, and not in the way they were supposed to by age affect.

Other than that, I think Shilo got cuter, the blond and the haircut really suits him, to me (the hair style, most definitely, the blond just because it fits his "influencer" personality), and I have to say, Jeremy is not as attractive as when he was seen on the phone; I think that was the most attractive Jeremy had been, not even in his own game. The art is phenomenal, but the fashion/hair/bone structure/aesthetics is a miss for me; Jeremy's hair (could be longer, or slicked back; the "waves/curls" seems awkward on him, at this length, somehow) and Shilo's dumb hat (didn't think anything could be worse than a cheap fedora, but I stand corrected!), it was cute when he was little, a bit obnoxious, like wearing a baby bonnet, now.

I skimmed though the comments here and oh boy yeah the mature/+18 stuff can be such a interesting case.
I dare to say it must be something with the way some kind of things are written that just falls into the safe comfort zone but I got the feeling we may end seeing, times change and who know maybe there is more waiting ahead but who is to said the once mythic balanced game may come.
I say until then we enjoy this ones we have, the doors are barely open but some may have stated to take the steps.
I have not seen this much in visual novels but sometimes I get that the kind of vibe you mention in Interactive Fiction. If you are in for a read I can say it can be interesting to take a look.

The DLCs for Derek and Baxter don't have a release date yet. All we can say is 'sometime this year'.

As for the relationships, from what I understand, each DLC adds new moments to Step 2 (for Derek) and Step 3 (for Baxter), where you can spend time with the character in question. They also may change things from existing moments, too (for instance, inviting Derek to the dance in the Soiree moment). Both also change Step 4 to address your relationship with them.

To add onto the person above me, there will be new 'versions' of Step 4. Since the current Step 4 is so Cove centric it wouldn't work for the other boys.

As far as I know this is the completed version that their dropping before it fully releases, Its mostly just to get a few bug fixes out of the way before they officially put it on store fronts since this version has all the missing content that wasn't added in the earlier Beta build so if you dont mind running into a handful of bugs you should be good to go.
