2 Weeks of no "weekly update" second time in a row; I'm starting to think my joke about "the second funeral" might be true. Anyway, I think we should accept that the game is on a downward spiral. The last 4 updates took over 5 months each. If I remember correctly it was:

  1. Chapter 9: 5 months
  2. Chapter 9 Remastered: 5 months
  3. Chapter 10: 7 months
  4. Chapter 11: 6 months and still counting
One of those updates being a "pointless" rework. So it took over 2 years just for 3 Chapters. For both this update and the last, we had the author communicating less and less with the supporters with the updates being less frequent. Not looking good. Best case scenario, this game is finished in 5 years. Worst case scenario, I see it abandoned in 2-3 Chapters.
I think Eva Kiss should make this game a community driven project, of course staying as main supervisor and director. This way, writing scripts, dialogues, art and music and general programming, can be done by volunteers, greatly accelerating the project.

ORS has objectively good writing compared to its contemporaries in the genre, and middling writing compared to writing in the gaming industry writ large. So it is doing well by that POV.

Where it loses me a lot is that it is ostensibly just a Soap Opera with a primary theme of corruption. The relationship dynamics of these very boring villains are only interesting if you like corruption narrative- if you don't they just buzz around like flies on shit in the game and there isn't really any interesting drama. "Young woman struggles to make money, but can easily do it if she becomes a whore" is about as basic as it gets in a corruption porn game- cookie cutter AF. Same thing with "weak-average dude struggles vs megachad NTR antagonists and the world to make himself better"- also hyper common. The intersection of those two common tropes I suppose are where the interest is supposed to be generated by this game...but I personally don't like Ian x Lena as a couple b/c I don't care for Lena. The personal growth / self worth elements to both sides of the narrative are very cursory and extremely slow burn compared to all the waffling about relationship minutiae and who cheated on who (yawn). From a kink POV- Lena's side is mostly corruption and shitty partners; and with the exception of if you want him to be a lil' cuck boy  , most of Ian's side is so painfully vanilla it might as well be an extract.

I get why some people are very obsessed with the game- when I first played I was quite optimistic it would end up being cool- but as I played more I realized unless you like a few very specific things it is pretty damned boring.
you guys let me guess you would turn this game into a one protagonist ian porn show? make his cock 16 times the detail and make this game a fuck fest? how original never done before just(100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times)

This game has objectivly better written than all the rest of the erotic games out there and eva was always a corruption dev ALWAYS even her old game. so if you dont like the corruption theme just dont play the game very simple.

The Story is average, if not below average. The characters are hit and miss in terms of their depths, with inconsistancy and hypocritical neuances with certain fetish characters like Jeremy, who adds nothing to the story other than being a Small Black Cock kink. (Because Eva SO VERY MUCH LOVES THAT SORT OF THING.)

Unasked for reworks that don't add or change much, constant negliect of content for Ivy, who just NOW, ten chapters in and 3 laughable reworks of a bar scene later, is just now getting some Ian face time, not to mention a 'update' that did nothing for one character in particular and kept him the same.

In short: Eva bit off more than she could chew and overall story and characters have suffered for it when she pushs herself to meet deadlines, rather than take her time and work it all out at a slowly, leisurely pace.
Best to stop here while your winning. The topic will turn into a circle jerk soon enough and we don't want that, since arguing with Eva's acclaimed long lost DA cousin never does look good.

Sometimes we get a weekly update, sometimes we don't. Its the nature of the beast. Some devs like keeping fans in the light with things while others in the dark. In Eva's case, that dark can bring questions to things surely: Is Eva over working herself? Are we getting ANOTHER unasked for rework of sorts? Could something personal have happened? Who knows for sure.

Either way, getting back on proper topics...

I heard Eva’s long-time mailman just passed; it’s going to push back production a few weeks…
Reminds me of the "two weddings" Eva had to attent to when making the previous update. We got the first funeral but what about the second funeral?

No way the game is gonna be abandoned since it will stop the endless money stream.
The game will inevitably follow Milfy City's way. The updates are gonna take more and more time. At some point, probably, they'll stop almost completely and only promises will stay. "The update is just around the corner", "The update is coming early next year", "Unfortunely my pc burned down and I lost all the progress" and so on. We are not there yet, but will probably be in a couple of years.

To everyone except the most hardcore of the hardcorest fans it is obvious that Eva Kiss now is a completely different developer compared to the Eva Kiss of the Good-Girl-Gone-Bad times. The hardworking and consistent developer is gone forever.
Back then she was a desperate young woman without a decent job who was trying super hard to make her game succeed.
Now she is a very well-off developer of adult games, who is making the same amount of money whether she works forty hours a week or four. What's the point of working hard when you can relax and still get your money?
