You're missing the point. Nobody is expecting Seymour to appear through a flame cone, have demon wings and talk Cthuvian. We know he isn't pure evil. He is still the main antagonist though. That is established. He had a grandiose introduction where the world around Lena effectively stopped until she met him. That's not 'morally gray', that's bad guy shit.First off: Pardon, but if you look through the thread and listen to a couple patrons what they whine about Seymour, it is pretty clear most expected a moustache twirler! Just remember the stupid discussion about Lena being sold to a sheik.
I explained already that dealing with him meant you had to make compromises. Again, it is established. You ignore him as Lena, everything starts falling apart. You don't and now you look like the richest bitch in town.I am sorry to have to tell you there are paths in the game, where this does not happen. On the contrary, on some paths Seymour saves the Cafe, shoulders expensive medical bills he had no need to and was not even expected to do so, just for example. He can do good if he wants to.
Same with Ian and working for Hierophant and the relationship with Viktor as well as the implications regarding your integrity, etc.
Seymour was designed as the guy who always has the upper hand, at all times. You gain something from him and lose something of your character.
People are disappointed that with Lena he becomes a mellow simp. He got disarmed and neutered really fucking quickly. It's very inconsistent with his initial buildup and kills any narrative tension you once had thanks to him. He lost that aura of a man who could do shit with absolute impunity.
