I have the exact same issue on Mac OS. Everything works normally besides clicking "Continue" on the home screen or "Load" when playing, where it crashes with the error longjohngold mentioned

Noted, thanks for the feedback. It will definitely change before the public release. The goal was to minimize the elements obstructing the the renders, but I'm starting to think I went overboard.
Btw, text size aside, do you find the textbox too low?
An abnormal update, OBVIOUSLY.
Honestly, disappointing update. No Hana, no Mina full scenes. There was 1 good Rosalind scene that I liked. The side girls are boring. From the unpacked images there seems to be a sub-Kathleen scene. And I have liked some of her scenes before. But this time it is ruined by her weird getup (of an older lady trying to look young , dont know why it was necessary...)

As someone with keratoconus, I would really appreciate an increase in font size, renpy "text scaling" is terrible.
Here is a code for Renpy that adds a slider to adjust the size of the dialogue text, check it out, I hope you like it and consider adding it to the game.

Haha, yeah I had the old version, I used it to refresh my memory of the last update while the new one was downloading. And I can start a game fine so all that earlier stuff is there, but like I said it's when I click on continue on the main screen (or load) that it crashes because of missing button images.

Aye, already on it... though to be fair it doesn't seem to be just me. Not that it matters just slightly validating that I might not have botched it, haha.

Didn't think I'd enjoy this game when I tried it the first time. I'm not much for BDSM or humiliation. However, the excellent writing and the overall sexiness of the scenes won me over. Sold 9/10 of a game.

So I tested both the compressed one and the uncompressed patch, and both work fine. Are you sure the last update you had was Chapter 4 update 4 Public? Thats the only thing I can think of. Or your download got corrupted but it should say that when unpacking.
If you haven't deleted it yet or downlaoded the full version/full compression. You can try and install one of the the privious patches if you're sure you played ch4up4 then the one from "Chapter 4 Update 4" to "Chapter 4 Update 5 Public" should be enough maybe. (you need to copy paste the old patch first and then the new one again though.
Edit: Yes the probleis you missing the Update from Ch4Up4 -> Ch4Up4 Public. Seems like the buttons where added there:

I do, and I don't remember having this problem before... so something has changed.
I'm a big fan of pumping up the font size in the accessibility settings (which I'm not sure if I had to do before in this game but I do it so much I may have and just forgotten along the way) and setting the font to DejaVu Sans if it's not something that's just as easy on the eyes from the get-go... now it's all crammed down on the bottom of the screen it feels unpleasant to look at, and worse if you increase the text size so there's extra lines to it it goes off the bottom of the screen.
Not sure if there's a textbox background that's gone now either and that's adding to why it's less enjoyable to parse... I wish I'd kept my old copy of the game to compare and contrast... but it's definitely less pleasant to read, but maybe that's the just staring at the edge of the screen for all the text issue.
But yeah mark me down as not a fan (of whatever that changed, still a big fan of the game, haha).
