You might want to check out the walkthrough to be sure, but IIRC Edwin has to show some sort of remorse or at least consideration afterwards or otherwise behave like a semi-decent human being, for Rosie to conclude that he may respond positively to the idea of helping her.

So, you took advantage of a woman, and are surprised she wants nothing to do with you?

In order to be on her path, you need to take her out to coffee, which means either not taking advantage of her or apologizing after doing so. Then you need to take her deal or help her for free when she visits you later.

Yes I am surprised given the nature of the game. And this IS indeed a (porn) game, after all, it's not real life. I thought this was a corruption game in which the MC can dominate the girls. That's appealing to me and there are many great games with these themes. I got that impression from the overall theme of Pale Carnations, given that you're managing whores who are desperate.

The second surprise is that this seemingly minor choice (whether or not to apologize) takes place in the first couple of hours of the game and determines your relationship with one of the main LIs for the entirety of the game.

So now, having played several days longer, it's rather inconvenient to restart.

It would be a rather shallow experience if all characters were mindless fuckdolls that you could use as you please with no repercussions; this is not one of those games. There are consequences for your choices.

This is why games with branching are great for replaying. You can experience something different on a second (or third, fourth, etc.) playthrough, as you often cannot experience everything on one playthrough.

Here is the description of the game from the OP: "Will you give into your sadistic urges and be enticed by the club's wealth and hedonism? Or perhaps at the end of it all, a flower of romance will bud, pushing you to leave the brothel’s sordid business behind." Wanting to pursue Rosalind's path is choosing romance over hedonism, which is opposed to what it seems like you want from the game.

This is a corruption game where it's the MC who is being "corrupted" by the club owners. How Edwin responds to these manipulations is down to the player.

Not exactly. The MC was corrupted initially. When he found out that his mother was a great porn actress and he didn't delete the video but saved it.

From reading this and other replies one might get the impression that if MC apologizes to Rosalind the MC will thereafter treat her respectfully and in a loving, healthy relationship... That, I've learned, isn't the case necessarily. (Which is one of the reasons I was disappointed in not being able to play that route.) In fact, the "apologize" route seems to be extremely depraved and treating Rosalind as, in your words, a "fuckdoll".

I'm pretty sure most Rose content is inacessible if you use her at the beginning and don't apologize for it. She concludes Edwin is like Ian and doesn't bother trying to seduce/manipulate him.

I think both Rose romance/full deal routes are very well written and rewarding, but you can't go maniacal asshole right at the start and scare her off before she can cast the bait. I do dislike how that whole casting couch scene was written, but it was early days and TD isn't perfect.

It sounds like you kind of misunderstood the idea of the game since it doesnt mention corruption anywhere in synopsis?
I also dont think anybody was saying that you would get romance if you apologized? Just that it would be boring if you had the option to take advantage and no matter what the outcome was the exact same and never referenced again?

i haven't play tested this and I am just guessing this but i think It's possible to be on Rose's route even if you were an asshole in the beginning

since the scene where she comes to the MC's appartment to make the deal happens by default
even an asshole MC should be able to take the "deal" route

also min-maxing stats should help further

as it's been proven with other girls that you can still be on their paths even if you were a complete dickhead throughout the game

I think you have to apologize or she doesn't come in the MC's appartment to make the deal. But after that you can treat her how you want
