Personally I'm not too worried by the development time as long as the end result is still worth playing and so far I have not been disappointed. If the devs' new work flow can speed things up so much the better, but quality still trumps quantity in my book.

We don't know how big Chapter 4 Update 3 is going to be. If it ends soon after the date with Veronica it will probably wind up taking something in the 130-ish day range. If it goes into some of the morning activities on Wednesday morning it might be more on the order of Ch4 Up2's 166 days (i.e. a mid-September release as you said). But if the update continues all the way through Felicia's sugar baby audition in the evening it will likely be the biggest update ever and all bets are off.

Personally I think they'll err on the side of quicker releases and wrap things up after Veronica's event, but that's just a guess. It's hard to say with any certainty since I don't know if that's a suitable stopping point for the narrative.

i read the patreon update posts, it doesn't look like they are going for Felicia's part this update.

The game is awesome and I'm impressed that it's developed with Ren'Py. one of the best I've played in recent years. The only thing that saddens me is that it doesn't have a Harem route, with all the girls being the MC's girlfriends.

An evening thought for any Hentai manga aficionado out there: if you like Pale Carnation, and our protagonist's backstory in particular, you may enjoy (and I strongly suggest you to search and read) "Boku no Shiranai Haha" by Kishizuka Kenji. It's easily available online with some easy Google-fu.

Now, Pale Carnation has an undeniable advantage over the manga: the backstory has a lot more time to brew, and a lot more depth and nuance. Yet, I adore the author's art style, and I hope you can enjoy it too; as an extra, there may be some interesting parallels and differences to mull over.

Yeah, I came on here to find out what the impact of this will be to these games being developed with the HNey Select assets?

I’ve never purchased any of Illusion’s games but my understanding is that the models for games like Pale Carnation and others with these models are derived from Illusion’s Koikatsu and Honey Select.

The engine will be maintained by the community for sure, even though the company died. There are still emulators for dead consoles after all.

Would be nice if copyrights change though, some games could make hundreds of thousands or even millions on steam.

The copyrights are the most worrisome part of this news for us fans. If Fakku is able to use this situation to cheaply expand their copyright holdings beyond HS Unlimited, it might not be long before Jacob starts trying to acquire new revenue streams. If your assessment of the market potential is realistic, they'd likely do that. Even if it's economically viable or advantageous to enter a licensing agreement with Fakku, I'm worried about the editorial control they'd be able to exert.

I wonder if it's better in this situation if you're wrong about the market, so Fakku decides it's not worth the effort to try to destroy the things we love.

The engine and everything associated with it is a company asset, and will likely be sold. It's unlikely to simply be abandoned.
