Being stuck under Abel or Sophia to me doesn’t seem like an ambitious Edwin would do.

Well, "being stuck under Abel or Sophia" is not a problem for a white and a grey Edwin. Since I replayed from the beginning, some hints and stuff are clearer (unfortunately not all) now. While Abel certainly has a position for Edwin in his hostile takeover of PC, he also definitely likes Edwin from their first meeting onwards.
It is openly implied that van Doren and his firm are major players in the medical business and research. Edwin being there would certainly set him on the way up to the top.

I’m trying to track with your mindset on what benifits Edwin the most in a non white knight play through.

I am really sorry to tell you that you do not get my mindset on a grey Edwin playthrough nearly at all! A little help from me. On all "white hat" and "grey hat" playthroughs I have (3 each for my prefered girls), Edwin wants to help people and is an inquisitive voyeur. He and Ian are "bros forever", Edwin brought him to think about his future and told him about his mom´s plans. (He also knows that Ian wants to be a history teacher/prof.)
I want to stress again that "grey hat" Edwin still wants to and does help other people, e.g. Ian, Felicia, etc., but that there are cases where his own gains come absolutely first (and they do not have to be money, since you are so focused on that).
Also you are obsessed with playing Edwin like an neurotic as..., which he is not!

As for Veronika, in the beginning "grey" Edwin had sympathy for her plight, but that changed the more he learned. How stupid and/or rash can Veronika be? She is in the games for the money, knowing that it will not help much! (that is different from both Feli and Rosi, who if they win get what they want/need) She ruined her happy marriage for that fracking gym and more, she could cut her losses, start anew and live her dream in a different gym. Even Samson mentioned that she could simply live her dream in another new gym she owned after cutting her losses with this one (and remember, the gym was already failing before Samson started his meddling. He added to the woes, but the gym was going down even before he popped up on the scene) instead of letting Kath have "fun" with her.

I had to shake my head when Veronika accused Felicia during the punishment game that if she wins two girls in need are hosed. We know that Feli would give the money Rosi needs without blinking if we ask her. (Even if that is not a problem anymore if we let August handle "just Oliver" )
If Veronika "wins", all(!) three loose. Since for Veronika even a win is simply a band aid, which will run out sooner than later, esp. when she could just walk away. But she is too stubborn and seems to life her life with blinkers on.

I still don't see a "bad" ending for Veronica that is worse than needing to find a roommate and a job as a personal trainer someplace. I mean giving up one's dreams is bad; I'm not pretending it isn't. But I struggle to imagine a world where she has no choice but to become a house girl. The only way I see that happening is if she takes a loan from the club to try and save the gym even after she loses the competition, but I just don't think she would.

The "bad" ending for Veronica is presumably if Kathleen (probably with the MC's help) manages to break her down to the point that she doesn't much care what happens to her after she loses her gym. We know she already feels some level of guilt for her divorce. Push Veronica hard enough and I could see her becoming a house girl simply because she's thinks she's hopeless at both relationships and coaching.

It goes without saying that this outcome is one we must avoid at all costs!

Walkthroughs are fantastic for this! And they help navigate the game besides. I do see what you're getting at, though. Maybe put a checklist in the gallery or something like that, just to help people see if/what they're missing.

I meant it more from "development stand point". I have some, minimal, experience with that due to which i am aware of "feature bloat". I am worried that we will possibly see more and more of that over time. Good point about that being "the whole art thing with Lucy" as well as "Concept where you can leave everyone to be with with the bartender" i love them but i feel like there "isn't enough difference between all options to justify the existence of all of them" or at least my mind jump onto that.

Of course, given Katharine hint that she plans to break any friendly relationships between the girls during the Exhibition during the punishment, i can't help but think about what will happen. ... I can see the "days between the third and fourth" exhibition having massive Branching. I don't mean that from story standpoint but from needing x2 or x3 or x4 depending on what we focus on before the culmination. Ian and helping him with his family situation, developing further what we have with Mina and/or Hana, dealing with all of the three others girls. ... Edwin in game remark that the "month is becoming a blur" which is true in that his schedule is more and more "filled with stuff 24/7". He even remarks that he hasn't studied as much as he would have liked to. I can see this becoming worse before it becomes better.

Point being, i worry "Icarus flies too close to the sin" situation.

As for Rosie, well i think my perception is coloured from the game but "porn is legal" and quite different from the club. Given what we have seen, plus how she enjoyed "threesome" and Ian remark about "the two/three of them filming" i can see see neutral endings related to that. It won't be the best, but it's something, and as single parent who have struggled for cash, even joined the club and experiencing all the fucked up shit happening, i can see her leaving thinking "filming porn isn't so bad as after all, not socially acceptable sure but not as fucked up as some other things". Even if she "losses and the club has to be compensated for dealing with the loan sharks" this option is way better than becoming"house girl". Plus she has "day job" which leaving every else aside, is another source of money. If she don't want more money, i can see her "moonlighting on the weekends" as an actress, depending on how the situation revolve even ask Veronica for advice.

I. it's the kind of game that makes you uncomfortable but it's also unique. I will say that how much you would like it depends on your mindset. People either leave early because it make them uneasy or sticky around for the story.

II. i will say that this is unique project. Both because the Club is unique thing, as well as because the developers actually can write good stories. I love AVN but quite of them have, less than stelar stories. Most others have "sex as something added rather than centerpiece of the story".

III. Give the previous schedule, as well as that there was updated recently, probably 9 months to an year from now on. Thou next update could be said to be "culmination" of sort.

I. Personally, I love it, so I might not be the best person to ask. It has definitely turned some people off due to subject matter and some scenes. I think there's probably a little bit of love/hate spectrum going on, but I also know some people who fall in between. Best way to find out is to play!

II. I agree with Henchmen13 that this is unique among the games that I've played. There are others that are written well, but it's hard to come up with a strong analogy.

III. Yeah, I dunno if it'll be 9 months or only 6, but it's definitely gonna be a minute.

IV. I don't know the answer, but I hope the woodchuck survived your questioning.

i don't see a path where veronica willingly joins the club.
even if you put aside her stubbornness for a moment , don't forget her golden rule "fast/easy/hard".
joining the competition was her "fast" solution , she is stubborn but not stupid.
joining the club as a working girl/trainer directly goes against her rules.

on the otherhand i do agree that her winner takes all attitude not only harms herself but others like felicia and rose who are now her competitors.
she spent her entire life training to be the best so naturally she wants to "win" but you can already see cracks in it when she says she feels bad for the other girls who are going to loose in the diner scene .
at this point you can encourage or discourage her so i think deep down she does feel bad about the "loosers" too.

secondly i think there could be a path where veronica could get somesort of "good" or "bitter-sweet" ending even if she doesn't win the game.
where she stops digging bigger hole for herself , admits defeat today so she could begin again better tomorrow.
after all unlike the other girls i could totally see her becoming "successful"again with the right frame of mind.

1. The subject matter of the game can definitely provoke strong feelings, but that said it's not as polarizing as I would expect. Those of us who love it love it, but people who dislike it mostly seem to ignore it.
2. I don't think there's a good comparison out there. Pale Carnations is a corruption game, but it's an intellectual corruption of a male MC, and it spends considerable time fleshing out the less corrupt routes as well.
3. The game was just updated in December, and the next update is likely to be a large one. You're looking at a 6+ month wait for Update 6. For comparison, Chapter 4 Update 1 was released on October 17, 2022.

I. I absolutely love this game, but one of the reasons why, is because the story makes you question your morality from time to time, it can also make you a feel uncomfortable depending on your mindset with these games or how "vanilla" are your tastes.

II. This game is very unique compared to some others in the site, I don't have any game in mind I could think off and call it "similar" to Pale carnations.

III. The most recent update dropped a few weeks ago, now is the best time to start playing imo, the wait time for the next update will likely take 6-9 months given the updates of this game tend to be packed with lots of stuff.

1, go to Pale Carnations folder > renpy > common
2, find and open 00console with notepad
3, find the line "config.console = False" and change it to "config.console = True"
4, open the walkthrough provided by this forum, and at the bottom of the pdf there is a section for unlock scenes
5, find your missing scene, and copy the fourth column's content (eg.: "persistent.RoseTAGallery = True")
6, run game and press Shift+O
7, paste the copied variable, press enter

Maybe one of you people can give me your thoughts but what is the point of having so many Mom (Victoria) porn/casting couch flashbacks if Mom is never going to be an LI? I mean I can see it intially as to give some context to her character and that of her son (the MC) but if she does not figure in the LIs so to speak, I just think it is such a waste of resources considering the time and effort to create those renders when it has absolutely nothing to do to move the plot/story along at this point. I am not all the way through it yet but my point is iterated in the ice cream shop after buying Mom a new phone. The scene with "Donny" and the casting couch has no revelance to the story at all IMHO. I think those efforts and resources could better put toward moving the story along or scenes with actual Love Interests rather than keep showing Mom getting fucked in the past. What the hell does that have to do with the story at this point? Is it just an incest tease or something? I mean it is in the MCs head that this is being imagined isn't it? Any comments?

It puts the player in the same mindset as the MC who has watched those videos repeatedly and has them permanently seared in to his mind, buried on unconscious level.

I strongly disagree -- that scene can be seen as quite a contradiction to how MC is coping with the fact his mom did porn, and the whole "she's sacrificed herself for me" narrative he's built in his head. In the same manner the MC has apparently (tried to) block that video from his memory, it now puts a doubt in the player's mind about Victoria's motivations re: the whole porn thing and whether it was really nothing but sacrifice on her part.
