Just finished playing this update, and took a long walk to gather my thoughts and now I'm eager to put those thoughts into words here, so be warned, long post ahead.
Just from the get go, I will say, this is the best update to date, no questions asked, the way the story advances, all the amazing scenes with different girls, the way the plotline is moving, the free roam, the big reveal, everything was fantastic. And there's a little bit for everyone, mayyybe Rose fans got the short end of the stick? but she happens to be the girl I'm the least interested on, so you won't hear me complain.
If you chose to watch Vickys tape with Donnovan at the end of last update you get a nice scene at the start here, the scene was really hot as you'd expect, considering it involves Vicky, but I prefer the path where the MC deletes them.
I LOVED the early parts of the update, by that I mean gathering Ian and paying a visit to your lovely mother in the morning, the scene where she tells Ian that Grace blackmailed her, made me tear up when he broke down crying. I have this self-imposed policy that I won't shed tears for media that isn't for it, I know it's dumb but makes games/movies/etc that make me cry so much more special, and this game is 100% worth it and special, fuck, and this wasn't the only scene to do this to me this update.
Worth noting, Ian's character development will be massively tied to how you handle this whole blackmail and Victoria porn actress situation, I like Killian a lot, and I want my dude to grow as a person. (tho I'll be keeping a save file to see the results of the revenge path he suggest later in the update
)
This update is not only the best one so far, but it also has the single best render, frame, scene, or however you want to call it in the whole game, I'm calling it now, Pale Carnations peaked right here.
Jokes aside, my favorite part of the whole update was that little text chat with Veronica, god, I love how a couple updates ago (Felicia art date), she calls you when she's bored just to talk, and here she does that again, I love how affectionate she's getting, anyone that hasn't bothered playing all the Veronica content I feel so sorry for you, you are missing out on such an amazing character. How she has grown from seeing us as less than dirt when she met us, and now, when she's anxious in the morning prior to the exhibition she texts us, god I love this game, the fact she mentions the bartender stuff from last update if you decided to spend the time with her is the little details that drive me crazy, so much love put into this game. But yes, that little 5 minute chat over the phone with her was my favorite part of the update, I can't wait to play the Veronica path to the end, and see whatever ending is awaiting Edwin and her, I thought I would never say this, but if there's someone who can dethrone Hana as my favorite girl, is Veronica.
The meeting with Mina is very cute, she looked amazing with the different hairstyle, though I have to mention, while I was playing the free roam section, I wondered what else will be of Mina's character, with everything going on with the other 4, I can't help but feel like she's a bit less interesting plotwise than the others, and that might be by design, she's more like a breath of fresh air compared to the rest, and well... devs will shut me up once she starts having threesomes with Veronica (hinted this update if you gave them the lesbian push last update) and with Hana, so if her role in the game is to fuck all the woman Edwin has also fucked, I guess I won't complain too much.
Meeting with Hana's mother was really cute, might be honey select shenanigans but she looks a little bit like Kath, I won't protest given Hana's my favorite character, but damn is she greedy, she got 2 scenes this update and already scheduled another one for the next one? Goth girl overdose.
I kindaaa wish the option to go to the club early would've lead to a scene with a house girl or something? but I might be asking for too much.
We arrive at the club and there's so much I want to talk about, first, the elephant in the room, meeting Elias, it was damn fun seeing Edwin's reaction, damn I hate and love Kathleen, stupid crazy bitch. Alison was overall an interesting character, but I don't really see her being too important past this update, but she was nice to look at and her scene was hot, but more on that later.
At first I thought that having to show Elias around was a bad idea and boring, but it's actually genius, I saw his character as just another prick that wasn't too appealing, and he existed solely for that one photoshoot with Felicia, but now that he's in the club, and being near him, he's not horrible? he was pretty chill and nice around with us, definitely the most likeable dude when it comes to all the old fucks in the club.
We still got some free time away from Elias, and all the options were pretty enjoyable, Lucy scene was nice, she's not really my cup of tea, but the little talk with her was actually pretty fun, messing around with Kath is great, I can see how much TD loves this character, her scenes always take a different direction from the usual ones you get with all the other girls in the game, some might not be for everyone, but they tend to be fun nonetheless. Hana scene was hot, not much to add there.
Warning Felicia about what's to come grants her 3 self confidence points, I'm guessing this will be one of the key decisions for anyone that wants a happy Felicia by the end of the game if she does not end up winning, honestly if I had to pick a path for my "canon" playthrough, I'd like to try and help her, as I still have some hope there's an ending where all our carnations can be happy at the end.
The whole final group scene was great, Dalia is a real one for helping us out, I wonder if there's a path where she doesn't? the orgy scene was honestly super well done and hot, it shines more if you go for Allison instead of Sophia, it was fun.
Now now now... Sophia, I guess the best for last? or at least in terms of scenes, her visit in the early morning I didn't mention earlier as I wanted to save it for this section, she's such an interesting character through this whole update, I didn't really know what to think of her prior to it, only that she was mysterious, but now I really fucking like her character, she seemed more genuine this time around, and you even get to know she hates pretty much everyone in the club? VERY intrigued on where her character is going in this story, I have a feeling she'll be very special. Her scene was great, her design is just so fucking hot, please let this not be the only time we fuck her.
And for the finale, the reveal had my heart pounding so fucking loud, the whole scene was really well done and the pacing was great, I do feel like Elias should've recognized Felicia as soon as he saw her body, but I'll let it pass considering it's way better if it doesn't happen like that. The poor face Felicia makes and her having a panic attack made me shed another tear, I can't help but congratulate TD and Gil for such a good job on that whole scene, in both the writing and the modeling, everything was top notch. Her passing out? and even Veronica reaching out to see if she's ok, damn, I can't wait to see what happens next update, and what fate has in store for her, initially I thought that bringing Elias into the mix was a horrible decision, but now I see why it was done, it's honestly such an amazing opportunity to spice up the game in the last stretch, not doing it would've been a waste, also I feel like this is the only way Felicia can have a happy ending.
Knowing the next update is supposedly so close also makes me really happy, all 3 carnations didn't really get any action, but the upcoming one they'll be the main plate. Felicia is the only carnation that hasn't stayed at our house, will she seek shelter in the MC too? what about that Rose option where you could tell her to stay? so many questions...
For anyone that read this whole wall of text, thank you, this update was a 10/10 and I can only hope TD and Gil can keep delivering on such an amazing game. I'm starting to think only 1 week left of game is not enough to finish everything that is going on, + closing out on the love relationships with all 3 Carnations, but I trust on TD more than anyone to be able to handle it all. Pale Carnations is like happiness in a bottle for me, every update I enjoy so much and it leaves me thinking about it for weeks on end and wanting more.
