While I like whats there now, you lost me with that one.
Sounds like you dont have a full story written up and just plan on milking it as long as you can.
Or
and I know that sounds crazy but hear me out
the dev has fun writing the story, has planned it to be extensive, has not a literal ton of free time to work on the game and exaggerated with the 10 years part.
You are one of the very few that obviously did not get the joke and went "full retard mode" instead.
So I actually do have a ton of story planned, but it's all prototyping story. Stuff that I'm constantly jotting down in documents/discord chats. All of it's kinda free floating and to a degree can be moved/shuffled around at will. It's not always anchored in a specific "This happens first, this happens next, then that" system. I tend to have a large degree of flexibility in where I can move things.
An example of this would be the fact that MC/Jade originally weren't planned to meet Orra until after meeting Sylvie and exploring the property. I saw an opportunity to introduce her earlier that both fit the story and fixed an issue that I ran into in the scenes just after the two kitties got off the subway/train.
As for my planning to work on this game for the next 10 years, I'm not just going to turn off my brain and work. I'll be continuing the think of fun goofy little events constantly and adding them to the queue and finding cozy little places where they can fit in respectfully. So yeah, when I say I plan to be developing this for the next 10 years, it's not an exaggeration. I mean it.
If you wish to call it "milking", feel free to but I'm developing this game/story first and foremost for myself as a passion project. It's my privilege to be able to provide it for you and I'd hope you'd consider it a privilege to play it.
I would say to look at this game in the same light that you'd look at massive "titan" shows like OnePiece, DBZ, Naruto, and DoctorWho. Seemingly endless wells of content that you can just let yourself fall into and get lost in. I understand that to many, shows like that are intimidating. Most people instantly shut down the idea of watching through OnePiece because it's 1000+ episodes long. As someone who grew up with it though, it warms my heart to know that one of my childhood favorites is still kicking strong to this day.
My game is for those sort of people. People who want that rich and lore-packed world that they can get lost in and let their minds wander amongst the never-ending details.
