I'm curious what you guys think about this melee system. Wanted to make melee difficult but not impossible. It works as a 'Counter Attack' combat design. If you simply run into the zombie, you will get hit. If you try to run past the zombie, you will also get hit. You have to bait out the first attack and then go back in and hit it. The melee cooldown is 1 second, so you have to repeat this movement until it's dead. Let me know your ideas! Melee is a pain point. You want to make it difficult so people conserve ammo, but not impossible so you're still able to make progress. 01.gif 02.gif 03.gif

I liked the idea of not making them a walk in the park, zombies while mindless in most media/movie/games they have a dangerous grip/strike.
Also it help you decide if you wanna kill it or watch the sex-attack animation.

That's looking great! I think that's a good system. One suggestion I have is perhaps a "back dash/dodge" move as well so that we better position ourselves for melee attacks. You can keep what you have now, but also include this suggested function for more advanced players

The only downfall I can see with my suggestion is that it might make the game a little too easy to play, especially for the advanced crowd. The solution to that is different difficulty modes - on Easy mode you have a red flash indicator on the enemies so that people can time their dodging (manually or via the dodge button), whereas on Normal and Hard the indicator is turned off and players are required to rely on visual cues, attack patterns and timing.

Here's a question, are zombie swipes guarantee hard knock downs for the heroine?

Thanks for the feedback! I'm most likely going to add a timer component to melee as well and slow the zombie swipe down. If you hit the melee button at the right time, you stun the zombie and can do two additional quick hits. This makes melee less repetitive and skilled players can quickly get through a zombie. The counter attack system can still remain for players who mess up the timing.

Just a random idea: wouldn't it be neat to paint in a few more prisoners into the cell in the background of the omake stage? Could be a simple edit of that one background image in the game.
