I have a question for the fans of PitC.
- What is it that made this game significant/your favorite for you?
- What are your favorite gameplay/features of this game?
- What is/are your favorite enemies?
- Are there any Adult games that you consider equivalent/better than this?
For me, this was one of the first quality adult video games I played (back when it was released in 2013). I think I enjoyed it because I'd never been exposed to a game with good sex animations, and the fly impregnation was a mixture of shock and sexy at the same time (only equivalent was NanoCrisis by Inui). It always stood out to me because there was no equivalent for a long time.
1) This is the first H-game I ever played. I remember genuinely panicking a little realising that the flies would fuck the MC since I didn't (and still don't) find that content appealing, and even wasn't fully adjusted to the interactivity of it all, so I genuinely stressed out and tried hard to complete the game without getting her violated (too much). I've always had this game installed, or came back to it, even when I moved on to other things.
2) My favourite features are probably the animations and general design of, well, everything. It's fairly simple, but executed extremely well and gives it a good atmosphere, so I never find myself pulled out of the moment in the same way other games might do. Other games might be more frustrating to play even if they're more visually "better" (I use that term loosely), or might play smoother but really lack in their visual appeal or content (usually more the former than the latter though) for me. This game was never frustrating to play, outside of some level design bits in the third level.
3) I'm probably an outlier, but the boss and the basic zombie probably. I never understood the appeal of bugs (ick ick), nor the worm-head ones, and I think the best content in the game involves the actual human (well, zombie) bits, and the boss.
4)
A few, most of them recent. I'll list them below:
-- Most of MateyDev/Matto's content (Section 7 (On Hold), Project Elimination (Dead), and Project Extermination (Ongoing)), which aren't quite comparable because they're more like other AAA titles than pixelart sidescrollers. Good gameplay, great animations, excellent atmosphere and world design, and an extremely active dev. Like, he's always on discord and always working.
-- Arena of Audacia (Abandoned) which is another personal favourite. I think it plays well, the animations are good, and it has almost no content that I dislike, except for one futa enemy. Heartbroken that this was abandoned.
-- A new game called Princess Reconquista (Ongoing), which is based on the aztec/mayan civilisation and invasion by the Spanish Conquistadors (the name
Reconquista being an actual event IRL). It's early stages, but very well executed so far, with good animations, good gameplay, great theme and aesthetic, and loads of potential. And it's all human so far, and while that no doubt disappoints some, I think it's fan-fucking-tastic that it doesn't have a bunch of fetishes I dislike (which, given how many games have loads of stuff I dislike, is probably a miracle in itself, and were it not porn-related I'd get the church come and have it recognised as a legitimate act of god)
-- The Imperial Gatekeeper (Complete) - A game based off of "Papers Please" but in a medieval fantasy setting and with sex. Also has a surprisingly strong modding scene. Again not quite an equal comparison because it's not a sidescroller or pixel art, but in terms of how much I liked it, I'd say probably a bit more
So, not many. There's a few more (games by LAGS studios are quite good normally IMO, if not quite the same level), Dekamara is looking promising, Knightly Pleasures is quite fun and one I like a fair bit, and Two Horns is another favourite.
That said, outside of Matto's work,
no other title has gotten me so invested like PiC. Maybe it's because it's the first one I ever played, or perhaps the sheer potential it has (it's very simple currently, which is a point in its favour because there's so much to expand on), but I worked on an entire multi-page document detailing plans for a sequel in great detail.
I planned, in quite a lot of detail, missions (including aesthetic and a bit of general level design), new mechanics (particularly relating to interactivity with the environment and level design), enemies and how they play + their animations, bosses and their unique gameplay mechanics + animations, NPCs (very few of them) outfits (with the option of having them impact gameplay and how they could), weapons, bonus levels and animations, easter eggs, and alternate endings.
This is the only game I'd ever done something like this. No other game got this investment from me.
No.
Other.
Game.
That's gotta show something, no?
