I'm concerned that this won't go anywhere.
I swooped in and was the first $1 patron back when it first popped up here. I messaged to ask if there was a Discord or if it was planned and the response I got, after a month from when I sent my message, said they'd probably start a discord when the second release comes because the game would apparently be better then.
A second patron appeared but sadly no news or responses to comments on posts, so after 2 or so months I cancelled my sub.
To me, the lack of news points to a lack of passion for the project (when I'm passionate about something I don't shut up) and a lack of patrons means there's likely no financial incentive to carry on either. And I do think money was an incentive here.
The Patreon has a $50 tier that wasn't set to a limited number of patrons, and if in the unlikely case that tier were to take off it would have meant a lot of work for the dev with monthly deadlines.
I think the dev probably had unrealistic expectations of the amount of work that goes into these kinds of games, especially to make them popular, and I suspect that they may have just given up when the cash didn't start rolling in immediately upon the first release. Silent devs always give me the impression that they're trying to build up an easy side income.
But I do hope I'm wrongly speculating and I hope it does carry on.
