Surprised it hasn't happened already though. I mean, how many does it take?Knowing how patreon deals with most things they will see the shitload of complaints from us and nuke it. that's how they work most of the time
Yeah, I know there are occasions when it's necessary, but I'm not really a fan of creators being able to delete comments. Especially because it allows shady ones to pull the wool over the eyes of some of their more ignorant patrons. They have the ability of never having to be accountable to their actions.I did my part, I wonder how long my comment will survive...
EDIT:
Wait, wth. Already deleted.
I was wrong, it was not deleted manually, it happened too fast.Yeah, I know there are occasions when it's necessary, but I'm not really a fan of creators being able to delete comments. It's 5 in the morning Jan 2 in San Francisco so not surprised they don't have 24/7 supportSurprised it hasn't happened already though. I mean, how many does it take?
Eh, maybe, I'm so used to companies cracking the whip and not caring that I forget that white collar jobs still have holidays. It's 5 in the morning Jan 2 in San Francisco so not surprised they don't have 24/7 support
They were off for new years
That's what I was thinking as well. I mean he tags the games with genres that are forbitten on Patreon, so hopefully that won't be a problem for the devs of those games.Hope they just nuke this page from orbit and don't watch the posts too closely or this could blow back in our faces pretty quickly.
It's absolutely not hypocritical. Nobody sell games here... F95 could have say "hey, give us $1/year and you'll have access to all the games". Uploaders could have used host that will pay them like it's done with so many pirates sites. But no, we are a community that share graciously. So, yes, I don't see why denouncing someone abusing us can be hypocritical.I know this is a pirate site so perhaps it seems hypocritical to complain about it,
Some of you, at least. He even ask for $15 for the mods we make and offer for free !
I'm not aware of a single modder here that sell his production. And like it's established that all his content come from this forum...Some of you, at least.
i just wnat to say one thing, because .... like you we have now microtransactions in games. thanks a lotSo how much is Mia Phillip actually affecting devs financially?
Their second listed game on patreon is thisYou must be registered to see the links
The dev for that game receives $2,022 a month for that game.
Mia Phillip is currently receiving $140 a month for all the games they are listing.
Mia has been sharing games since 30th May 2018 and not one dev has reported a loss of revenue in 7 months. I know what they are doing is not right, but is it actually affecting anyone financially?
Doesn't matter if any dev has a loss from it or not the person behind that account has no right to make money with the work of other people, nobody would complain if he asked and shares them for free but asking for money for these games and using catfish pictures pretending to be a girl to get more money from a bunch of sad individuals is not ok.So how much is Mia Phillip actually affecting devs financially?

For us it's not about impact, it's about principle. They have no fucking right to take our labor and make a profit without our permission. We have a word for that in the English language, it's called slavery, and I'm not their fucking slave. So how much is Mia Phillip actually affecting devs financially?

This guy is lying about a bunch of stuff, who he is, where the games come from, etc..., so there's no way he's paying any devs, much less all of them.If the person is to be believed, he is actually a paying patron to every single dev and thus feels he can offer every product he's "earned" by those contributions to others. Inherently, that's not the most awful concept. A little Robin Hood like.
He's using our links, which is fine if he didn't ask for money in return and gave credit to the people who shared them (not F95Zone but the people who shared originally).Welp, it's a sad statement, for sure.

Of course, that depends on a number of theories, the most salient of which concerns me:
- Is there actual proof the person is properly paying for their copy of the game? One would hope he was not simply grabbing it - for free - from a place like here and then reselling it for pure profit. That would not be Robin Hood like. That would probably be more Sheriff-like.
All other considerations aside (and this thread will likely list all of them), that one concept would bother me greatly. Since the idea of making money from the releases, something almost no other "pirate" site does, would amount to legally risky positions across many other entertainment venues. Thus, the whole setup seems, at the very least, in poor taste and, at worst, potentially criminal.
I'll admit, I get a little bothered by quick releases to sites like this. But, a case can reasonably be made that people who play these games for free continually are likely never to become supporters. Those that are likely to support, then, actually benefit from the developer having their game released here.
But that whole concept breaks down if people are paying money for those "free" games. There is little to no likelihood that this person's patrons will ever become patrons of the individual developers.
And that gives even "pirate" sites a bad name.
