Reinstatement of account suspended does not mean that creator is inline with the terms of service just there page is. And patreon at the own discretion will play the games to find out if the tos have been violated. If they already suspended you and reinstated you and find your game violates the tos you get banned and 1 month refunded to your supporters
I'm aware of that. But the case is they didn't ban anyone yet. Even suspensions are rare. And their guidline has been updated for quite some time at this point. Their behavoiur is inconsistential. DMD can be banned after very first 2-3 sentences ingame. Unless they start to actually follow their guideline and ban all games they will have to answer endless questions. Hope they won't do such a thing but if not devs won't be sure of their future

The ability to change sex is like a direct hit for Two Sides. It's the biggest game I can remeber with sex change.
And also has incest, rape, bestiality, drugs and a NPC that could be considered to be a minor. I really like Two Sides and if Patreon is starting to ban devs and their content, this game will probably be one of the first that gets kicked out.

Yeah. Sadly as I love it as well. BB should be down pretty fast in that case as well as it has the worst page on Patreon now (don't even hide its theme or nudity). But it doesn't matter. If they would ban they would ban all most popular games and most of the others.

There banning artists and comic makers and alot of loli makers are now banned. This is not over. They seem hell bent on these rules being enforced and seem to be bringing allt he resources they can to the table to ensure that everyone follows the tos

Not that it matters but it seems like patreon prepare for a merge or even a sale. If they are so determined on the ToS... all of a sudden.

Can I allowed to do this ?

1. Use Patreon only to support the 'studio', not the games itself. Ex. In Patreon, I release a really shitty games as on-going sample production. In this example, I'm thinking about release a game where an ugly guy visiting a super ugly witch, request love potion with sex as payment. A short with slow progression of build game.
UglyGames.jpg

2. The real game however, I release in this site, with massage, "If you want to support my studio, please support me in [this Patreon Link]" which the sample is that ugly games.

i read patreon guideline and there nothing about super power, why they said super power not allowed, and patreon ok with lolita whos character underage because its fiction, so mind controling someone using super power will be ok right because super power are fiction, this guideline is so confusing.

Interesting development of the situation, on one hand it (at least) severely pushes back the evolution of adult gaming community, on another, after all the media coverage public opinion knows that Patreon piggybacked to fame on porn and creative works with explicit sex scenes. I think it will take time for Patreon to properly "clean" their image (whether it is removing content or for more conservative investors to forget), time that adult gaming community could use to the best of their abilities. Note that Conte and "Trust and Safety team" changed their line of defense from "There is no pornography on Patreon" to "Pornography was always forbidden on Pateron, we merely started to enforce our content policy".

On a side note: "Trust and Safety Team" sounds pretty much like "Ministry of Love" doesn't it? ;)

Thanks for the news...
I can't even find my words, it's so ridiculous. It's not even a question of law, just their moral that have clearly not evolved since the Victorian era.
So, now I just wait the time when they'll say that anything which isn't missionary, in the bed, in a dark bedroom, between a heterosexual married couple, is too subversive and must be banned :/

You said that they'll play the game to control that it comply to the rules... I already see the big banner in the safety team's room: "Anyone caught with a boner will be fired !"

I've been watching this thread ever since this whole guideline stuff started. Helped me jump on at least cleaning my page to better fit the guidelines. Thanks.

Basically this whole thing has put me on edge, and I'm sure every other creator feels the same. Completely unsure if we will wake up tomorrow and find our page completely banned and lost what we have to support ourselves. I very much enjoy what I do and am excited to release "Incest in Paradise", but I wonder if my page will even last until then.

Like other creators, I've been looking into secondary options. There just isn't really anything like patreon from what I can tell, at least not yet. Not sure if it's best for us to go the way like Y3DF, and have our own site act like a patreon page. Been looking into payment processing a little bit, and I see a lot of the bigger ones don't support adult content.

Would feel a lot better having everything on my iccreations.org site without feeling like the rug can be pulled from under me at any moment.

Patreon privately lists all emails that are currently pledged to me. Would be great if I could easily transfer those as logins for my site. Giving access to content FROM my site rather than patreon itself. Having patreon just be the payment process, while everything else is VIA personal site.

Either way, a lot of us need to have some funds set aside to support ourselves during a transition if the banning ever starts happening.

Super powers are out because mind control xray programming etc violate a characters free will and there rights. No clue how a game character has rights but there you go. Also had to delete screenshot as i left my personal email address visable.

Also if any of patreons creators are on this thread or if anyone has any questions you would like to send to patreons legal team let me know by tagging me. Costing me 8k per day atm so might aswell get my moneys worth. Plus patreon have a tonne of legal people so the more emails my team send the more it costs them
  • Why would Patreon disclose any additional details to a random third party (ie, your lawyers)?
  • "Emily Waters" doesn't appear to be a practising solicitor/lawyer in the UK?
  • "Titan Security Services" is not a registered company in the UK?
  • There are no results on google for "Titan Security Services" relating to solicitors?
  • £8000/day for a retainer is absolutely insane, especially for a noname legal firm?
  • Your screenshot looks doctored, also why is your Gmail language in "English US" rather than "English UK"?
  • Why would the Patreon response be so long as to need paraphrasing?
  • Why is her response a new email rather than a reply to your original email?

I dunno man, lots of Security Services have Legal Team Departments and they all communicate via poorly written emails strewn with mis-spellings and grammar errors.

This is reasonable untill some point. Necrophilia and pedophilia should not exist or using your status inside the family to abuse one other something like "A dad forces his daughter to have sex with him" this isn't a really pleasent situation still I wouldn't mind if a game has it. In the other hand if it is seduction other then forcing them with your status and making their life a traumatic horror house, is a better option and they should stay out with it because incest is actually everywhere and role playing that in the games is another pleasure. For the solution the creators should hide the real content out of the Patreon and should release a guide to how to turn incest on another platform such as Discord. By the way, I can't see any harm in loli concent because it isn't like a 10yrs old child to count as pedophilia.

So, they consider Patreon like a public site. I would like to ask them where in the W.W.W. are the NON public sites and also why they take money from minors for PORN games (nomatter if incest or not)? They can easy check the supporter ages by controll her credit card. They only check if there are cash or not. Pecunia non olet.

Too many questions raised by the Email. I think the only definitive answer we can trust is the content shared by Faerin.
From what I can understand, it seems that Patreon has a training and consistency issue which needs to be raised and addressed.
When I was in school, I often said "Do not rely on the front of the book nor the back only. Burn your cliff notes and read it from cover to cover to understand it. Only that way can you honestly judge the work."
In other words, research both sides carefully. Throw out all info that cannot be verified. From the remains that are the truth, make a list of either side's strength's and weaknesses and consider it carefully. True debaters will also look at it from the logos, ethos, and pathos viewpoints. Then they write their own opinion and cite sources. Preparing for debates can help you form opinions that stand the test of time since you're not spouting someone else's words.

I would love to ask them if they're planning to take some actions against those who violate their guidelines as it's the most of adult creators. But that would be like asking them to do that so it's better not to ask about that
At this point it might be actually better if they ban the big ones instead of what they do now with moving the ban hammer over the head of the developers and leaving it there. The big devs have enough attention and traction to take their supporters to a new site or different payment method. Then we would have an alternative to patreon.
The current situation where a dev could be banned every day or not and patreon being very vague is just a nightmare for anyone who has to rely on it as income.

I won't go into the game of how regressive all this look. My games have all their banned content. Making hardcore yet consensual stuff is my stock in trade. Everyone talks about how banning incest is stupid, but that's vanilla level on my side 8D

Anyway, the reason I'm making this post is mainly for other creators. I'm currently actively looking for an alternative to Patreon as everyday it looks more and more obvious that I'll end up suspended no matter what, even if I'm a small dev.
There ARE alternatives. The problem is: I don't know how reliable they are. There are two alternative sites that would need some deep analyzing to check if they could be used as Patreon's replacements.

I'll start with the first one I don't know anything about: . I must admit I didn't log in, create an account or whatever. Google keeps yelling at me that apparently the alt-right in US use this to promote their stuff (hell if I care), but I wasn't able to find an article stating the pros and cons of the site compared to Patreon. Their ToS doesn't mention anything about adult stuff (banned content is more logical (drugs, terrorism etc...)). So if anyone has more informations to share, I'd gladly hear about it.

However I must admit I'm a bit surprised no one mentionned the second site as it is for me the closest to Patreon we can find: . Enty's basically the Japanese patreon. It was created only two years ago when Japan probably realized there were money to be done with Patreon's success. Personally I've known it for quite some time as more and more of the Japanese artists I follow on Pixiv use Enty. There's an english version of the site, but as you'd expect, it's far from being perfect and a good chunk is still in Japanese only. Unlike Hatreon, I DID make an account there to check a bit how things would work. I litterally reuploaded everything I butchered on my Patreon page a few days ago :
Since I used it, checked their ToS and browsed some stuff on it, here are the pros and cons of Enty:

Pros:

- Text editor is miles ahead of Patreon's. It's a real one and it feels good.
- It's mostly in english. For a Japanese site, this is pro, believe me.
- Adult stuff is allowed
- Since the site is mainly used by Japanese people, you could potentially have new followers who might discover your work through it (don't underestimate how many Japanese people rely on Japanese-only sites for their games). Though to be totally honest, most of the creators here make 3D renders and that doesn't sell as well as 2D (except if the 3D is "anime-like" which is the case for none of us westerners I think).
- If you're motivated enough, you can make a translated version of your front page for each language the site propose (English, Japanese, Taiwanese, Korean). This way, Japanese people will fall directly on the Japanese presentation, English-speaking people on the english one etc... Of course it's optional.
- Their search engine has a "R-18 included" (adult stuff) triggerable. So people can find you by browsing the site's search engine.
- It can be seen as a con for some people but basically, Enty has a system to prevent "unfairness". When you pledge to someone you can only access to the posts that are 30 days old at the maximum (to avoid the fact that someone pledging today will have access to the same stuff than the guy supporting the creator for 2 years). If you want to access older stuff you need to pay more. When making a post, though, you can deactivate that feature and mention "make this post available to anyone anytime"

Cons:

- It's to be expected from any site that is NOT Patreon, but of course, if the content is R-18, you can't pledge with Paypal, only via credit card.
- The setting of the pledge levels is buggy and less easy to set up than on Patreon (and I think you can't put pics, though I didn't try it)
- Some parts are still in Japanese only (while it's not a problem for a good chunk of the site, very important features like the options of a new post are still in Japanese only)
- For some people it's not a problem but for me, it's a big one: they transfer the funds directly on your bank account. Personally I give 75% of each month's earning to the people I work with. I don't want to see that money on my bank account to pay taxes for money that isn't even for me...
- This is Japan so any R-18 pic should be censored (I'm talking about the pics you post on the site, I don't think the games themselves need to be since you host them on western servers).
- Fees can go between 5% to 10% on the creator side and 3,6% on the pledger side.
- And the last con which is probably my main concern: When you make a new post, you have to tick two boxes at the very bottom that are in Japanese only (but I translated them). Thoses are to state that the content you post doesn't feature "Sex or Violence towards underaged characters (read lolis, we're in Japan, if the character is 13 it's probably ok x))", "Bestiality", "Scatology".

Well fuck me for that last con, my games have all those. BUT! Cause yeah, hope isn't lost. There's a but.

One of the Japanese artist I follow draws bestiality only so I checked his Enty. And God is it ugly. He simply blanked out the animals from all his pics. So his account is filled with half-pics (any newcomer can't know what he deals with). It's important to note that locked posts have a clear "preview" of the pic uploaded in it. Unlike Patreon, it's not blurry and you can see it even if not pledging (hence the security of removing the discutable content himself, I think). Considering he's been on Enty for more than a year, it doesn't seem to be a problem. I can't check his posts cause I'd need to be a pledger so there are probably only two ways he's dealing around the problem: Either he uploads his work on another site and Enty's used to get the links and/or the password to access those links (there's a password system though I don't understand how it works), or he directly gives the content on the locked posts as it's actually not a problem to share "forbidden" stuff as long as 1) It's beyond a paywall 2) There are no pics of it on the post. This way, he uses Pixiv to get known (he uploads some pics from time to time there and give a link to his Enty), and people going on his page on Enty know perfectly what's hidden behind the huge blank chunks of his pics and they pledge.

This last part is extremely important cause if the only thing to respect is: don't post pics of banned content, Enty makes a serious alternative. If even links towards games hosted on non-Japanese servers containing banned stuff aren't allowed, that's another story. Now, I'm saying this, but I'm aware that most of the creators around here don't deal with underaged characters, bestiality and/or scato, so it's more a concern of mine and a few minority. But that's a question I'd love to have a definitive answer even if chances are pretty low on my side to do anything on Enty (I did things in the wrong order, I made the page before checking their FAQ ^^')

Sorry for the very long post but I thought it was important to share what I knew about some alternatives.

If anyone has more infos about Hatreon, Enty or any other site like that, please share. We all need a plan B for the future.
