Ren'Py - Completed - Pine Falls [Part 2 v0.5] [Daniels K]

I can't really do a comprehensive review, as I have not gone through all the currently available content. I had to write something though after my discovery...

I immediately took to the story. It's a simple idea, and the writer builds upon it well. You are the one and only male that is virile and available in some supernatural setting where only younger women and a few older men are trapped. Yes, it is a metaphorical representation of 95% of all adult visual novels in story form. The part that grabbed me most is that the author caught on to something I figured out; wanton sexual escapades could really screw up simple relationships in a much more primal way in this environment. These people are trapped, so fucking around could have much worse impact than an argument and a break up here.

So I did my "first playthrough" style. It sucked a bit because there are a couple of characters that fill my attraction both with personality and the physical models... but I personally felt reserved based upon the circumstances. Not a problem. My second playthrough will be a blast when I get my favorites into a harem. The thing that really impressed me... it worked. It worked surprisingly well! Not only did I finish part one with a firm hand on the brakes, but the MC even succedes at escape and now must find out how to pass back and forth between Pine Falls and the real world in the hopess of freeing some of these ladies from this strange curse!

Which brings me to the point where I decided to go with an early review. Part two is a seperate game with a pretty nice method of carrying over your status. Your character returns to the real world physically hurt and must try to remember the more significant events of part one. So, I avoided the orgies, I avoided the drama, I avoided the potential heartbreak... and then it turns out the author forgot one little possibility. You are asked with whom you have a budding relationship with, and the possibility of "nobody at all" isn't there.

So, I had to stop playing. It was more funny rather than frustrating though. I definitely know whom on that list I would choose to be closer to, it just cracked me up that it was possible to not have anything happen and yet that path is not available as an option later on. Maybe if we are lucky the author will come up with an update based upon that which is interesting and continues to drive the story. Sure, it could be argued that such a path inherently fails in any adult visual novel, but keeping such an option open while keeping an intriguing story rolling really feels appealing.

So... I'll be playing again and maybe come up with a much more comprehensive review later. The TLR; version so far is - interesting story, neat characters in an unusual situation, great models, and a lot of wonder about the potential resolution to the story.

Now I'm just going to bang a bunch of chicks I dig...

EDIT: Okay, so I played a few more options and I can revise my review.

I must unfortunately drop a single star because of the ending(s). You ultimately get only two endings... end up with the girl (or girls in one case) while the town continues to be a mystery, or you get a deus ex machina about some goddess and the town goes on it's happy way with a reduced degree of threat. I guess the endings can be considered "nice", but they really aren't much of a payoff. You don't really fix anything except for a few individuals, and anything better for the town has more to do with you being the distraction for the main mystery which... well, it pretty much remains a mystery.

Let me put it this way; you joined the Rebel Alliance to stop the evil empire, and while you were having smoking sex you heard about some kid destroying the Death Star. Stuff happens, but you got laid.

Ultimately, your decisions really didn't have much effect at all except to determine what sex scenes you get to see. You can take this as a pro or a con depending upon your mood and personality. While this VN has some of the best models for my personal taste, it only just makes up for the lack of real control. Bang who you want with no fear of interrupting any other tail chasing, the worst part is that all of this has no effect upon any of the endings.

So, enjoy this for the porn so long as you get around the story. It is just a bit of a shame though. My "pristine" run through had no effect upon the supernatural entity, nor did my man-whore run through. Nobody breaks up with you, and the only consequences are from the last decision you make.

I will say that at least you do get an ending. Better than waiting months or years for a promised update, or the dreaded "abandoned" tag. Still, would have enjoyed some more worldbuilding upon the premise.

The graphics are particularly beautiful :
each character is detailed enough to differentiate them both physically and psychologically. As a result, everyone will have their favorite character(s) with whom to move forward in the adventure.
Animations and sounds are great.
The story, with a touch of the LOST series, is very well constructed. We want to know the answers...

As soon as I finished Pine Falls, I loved it. Very nice and original story, good graphics, the sound is very nice. Lots of nice scenes easy to unlock. Several possible endings easy to unlock . It is one of the most 'voted with merit.

I finished playing this game (Part 2 v0.5 is likely the final version, until proven otherwise) weeks ago, but I had real life responsibilities, so this was delayed until now. You have only yourself to blame if you think I spoiled this game. If you think I sound critical, just know that I only want you to know what to expect from this game. I may not be a professional critic or an experienced creator, but I have dabbled in quite a bit of things to form my opinion.

Characters - main love interest or otherwise - are pretty and visually recognizable, so there aren't much to complain about. The occasional voice over is also a nice touch, not exactly helping in terms of being immersive, but it helped getting me in the mood. Of course, due to the premise, the main girls are not that fleshed out beyond "they have been trapped by a freaky mist for some time and since you are the only viable option for heterosexual sex, they want to jump your bones". I was satisfied somewhat by what I got, but I would have wanted more. Character endings are nice though, so I was mostly happy.

On the other hand, story honestly leaves quite a bit to be desired. While the developer's decision of choosing to focus on the sexual content was expected for an adult game (let’s not kid ourselves here, we played this game at least in part because we were horny), there isn’t much outside having sex. I wasn’t especially happy with how they handled elements like the Goddess cult and the mystery behind the men-abducting mist. For instance, the Goddess cult didn’t do much beyond inviting MC to join a religious orgy. This is especially true in Part 2, where the Goddess is supposedly angry at MC for waltzing back into town. For example, it would be nice to see some extremist cult members attack the MC for angering or disrespecting the Goddess.

Of course, what disappointed me most was how the developers handled the mysterious mist. It remained a legitimate threat even as the story progressed and learning of the truth was ultimately MC’s choice. However, the hype and tease for the mystery has made it almost impossible to deliver a satisfying reveal, let alone being satisfied by something that felt so rushed and abrupt. Perhaps it would have been better if the mist remained an unknown, formless cloak of death? Hindsight is 20/20.

In short, this game has some regrettably unrealized potential. It is decent as an adult game, but if you want to experience something beyond having a blast – such as reading a mystery story, this visual novel may not for you.

This had one interesting start... seems like a EGame with a mix of Alan Wake and Silent Hill. Beautiful female characters and i really hoped the story would stay good or becomes even more mysterious until the end... Romance and mystery could have worked really well here but everything started to fall apart at the end of part 1 and part 2 was... i'm sorry it was not that good and ending(s) lacked the promise the start had *sigh* this EGame had much more potential yet it felt unused, specially when it comes to overall story and some endings.

This one is hard to rate.
The story is interesting enough to read until the end, however it needs way more polishing. In the end it is (at least at my playthrougs) just way to aprubt end and feels like I miss something. I barely get to know the characters in depth and all I saw was envy and jealousy frome some stupid cunts. the only exception is Mia, and thats why I always stick to her. However even sticking to Mia isn´t a good thing at all, because you fuck her and then what? aprubt end. Nice try but the story could have been better.

After enjoying Lancaster Boarding House I was looking forward to trying this game. The structure seems to be pretty much the same, make choices with different girls then at the end if you have made the appropriate decisions can choose which girl to end up with, and they all get their own personal epilogue.

The female models are lovely enough but I didn't see much of an improvement in the overall render quality from the previous game. The actual animations have even taken a step back. All the animations are basic two step works, LBH had these basic animations as well but there were also a few more complicated and really well done animations, they don't exist in this game.

The plot is stolen directly from the Wayward Pines novels/TV show with the added twist that our MC is the only Dude in a whole town of hot young ladies, entirely appropriate for this genre of game. Although the ladies are likeable, they are not as fleshed out as the characters in the previous game. In fact the whole story is less engaging than LBH.

I would rate this game as thoroughly average. Not necessarily a bad choice if you have the time for it, but there are better written and sexier options out there.

This was quite the adventure. I loved it. Multiple endings, romances, options. The scenes were not that bad, some looked goofy but nothing too much of a problem. The story was quite nice, I liked the argument of the game, a town which apparently doesn't exist but you end up there somehow. 10/10 Would play again.

I was already a fan of the creator's earlier work. This one's even better and among my top favorites.

The story is noteworthy and interesting, even without sex. That said, the setup is a porn-gem. The situation has the girls deprived. Hungering to be touched. But they don't know how reliable you are, so you start off as friends with possible benefits. You get to know them intimately before being expected to pick. And it all makes sense in the story. The girls are hot, have personality, plus their animations are excellent.

Dialogue, renders, music... all add a certain quality. The MC is clever and likable. Well, it's clear I enjoyed this game. Now it's your turn to have fun.

This feels exactly like game of thrones, amazing start with a huge story, great charaters, lots of sex, but unfortunally just like game of thrones DONT WATCH THE ENDING its a quick boring cop-out and will leave you saying i wish i didnt watch that and just left it to my imagination.

I played both part 1 and part 2 of this game and I recomend it even if it has his drawbacks.


Story: The story start nice and build up in the first part of the game. Being a bit of a SCI-FI it succeed to create a believable world (even if there are still gaps) and that is awesome. You are the alpha male in the town and somehow each chick want a piece of you now. The models are gorgeous and I had a hard time deciding on my favourite as different body type came up with different personality.
The fact that the beginning of the conversation was also with the voice of the girl made me pay more attention to the sound and so I discovered that this game also have great music.

As a side note: I played other games of Daniel and seeing some references to those games was awesome


Characters: As I said, lot of chicks, different things and a lot of action with all of them if you want.

All in all I believe that the creator should have put the effort to merge the two parts into a single linear game

Also, a third part was expected given the way the scenario when MC is captured end

Overall, a great game with good visual, nice animations, great soundtrack, good writing... However, I just feel like the game endings are just short and rushed. (9 out of 10)

Just played through the entire story, parts 1 and 2. Enjoyable story and characters. Typical VN style with choices that lead to different endings with different girls. You can easily save before major choices and come back to see the other choices later. Animations are short and simple, but there are a lot of them. Sex scenes are plentiful and I found myself more aroused playing this than most games.
There are better games, yes, but out of the hundreds of games on here this one is on my top ten list.
One thing that I didn't care for was the voice acting. There isn't much and more in the beginning. Usually it consists of a "hahaha" or "hey!" and then the rest of the dialogue is without voice acting. The issue is the voice acting is horrible and only takes away from the experience for me. No deal breaker as there isn't much of it at all.

Part 1: 5/5

The story is really catchy in Part 1. The sex scenes are really good too. It feels like building a proper harem. There are reverse gangbangs, threesomes and one-on-one scenes which should be there in a harem scenario. The number of characters and their render quality is really top notch. Also, personally I really liked the sex sounds of the girls.

Part 2: 3/5

This is where everyone is disappointed. Just like Lancaster Boarding this game also seems rushed towards the ending. Although there is an improvement from the previous game (Lancaster Boarding House), the endings are pretty rushed, some even inconsistent. Instead of switching to a new game, the dev should have allotted the time to this game after giving a significant amount of time in building the story in Part 1.



I've been following Daniels K since Zoe's Temptation. What I've gathered till now is that s(he) has created a universe for the games. Although instead of creating a universe it's about time s(he) reviews the stories and development of individual games.

Story build-up is interesting but completely falls flat at the end. Not worth the emotional investment. Find something else to do with your time instead. This project was wrapped up with zero care and it shows. Such a shame, it looked like it had potential in the beginning.

Author has own style so i was not surprised that game based a few key choice and stat collecting by other choices to influence paths and endings. I like this style maybe story not as strong like I thought at the begining but tryed something new and I appreciate it. Girls are beauty render is good and you can decide harem and ritual kinks or romance relationships as you prefer. Only thing which was a bad point to decide a relationship after coma without knowing characters. Game is absolutely replayable.

I wish I could say Pine Falls was the story of Pine Falls but it just isn't. The plot of Pine Falls is somewhat interesting but it has the worst resolution of anything I've seen in a while. Par for the course one might say. It really begs the question "why set up an interesting premise if you're not going to pay it off in the end?" I guess we'll never know. I wish I could say "at least the girls are cute" but they don't seem to care much about MC at all in the end.

You spend the entirety of the game setting up relationships with these girls and they all fall apart like they never really liked you to begin with, regardless of what ending you decided to choose. The premise of the endings is you leaving Pine Falls, and you take a bunch of girls with you when you do so, but the dev didn't know how to set up those endings more than just giving a certain girl a kiss (unseen to others) before you leave and the other girls you take out of town deciding you're not worth the time anymore, for some reason.

Not to dive too deep into the endings for the purpose of spoilers, but the "main" one railroads your MC from this game and yet another DanielsK game into what seems to be a bad end for the sole purpose of setting up an expanded universe thing. If you bother to read the text, it seems as if the end is setting up a player choice that might lead to the harem end that I'm assuming a lot of players were looking forward to, but the players are never given that choice, for some reason.

TL;DR: The game stars off with an interesting premise that really goes nowhere in the end. The sex scenes are great, most of the girls are great, but the majority of the endings are pretty terrible and uninspired.

The girls' endings were okay although they felt a little rushed. The ending where you wanted to continue the investigation is a bit of a letdown. If you didn't play some of the developer's other games (such as myself), then the ending seems totally random and out of left field.

The graphics were nice and the girls were really hot. This is very much a visual novel; there are only 3 or 4 choices throughout the game that actually matter. Even then there aren't really any branches, just a couple changes in some scenes as you follow the storyline.
