Think he partnered with Fooxied on that one.
This is speculation, but:
The thing is, making games costs money, and Steam is more reliable for generating money than Patreon, as a way of offsetting the developer's investment.

What happened? Why did the author's patreon disappear?

Hey Everyone — unfortunately, I have some bad news, which I’ll try to soften a bit at the end.

Due to certain personal issues and increased risks for me associated with working on games of this genre, I have to shut down my Patreon page and step offline. I’ve thought about this for a long time — creating this content truly brings me joy — but I made this decision so I can sleep easier at night. I sincerely hope for your understanding.

The good news: I will continue working on the project I’ve started. I don’t like leaving things half-finished, and I value your support. I’ll just be posting updates, probably, on the F95 page — the same place where I repeatedly asked you not to repost my updates ahead of time, but you did :)

Thank you for supporting me all these years and believing in me. This has been an interesting journey — I’ve tried to hit deadlines, be honest with you, keep learning, and improve the quality of my work. That said, it’s also been very exhausting and time-consuming, full of stress and sleepless nights. Working with a team instead of solo would probably be much easier.

I already stopped billing and payouts few days ago, and in a couple of days I’ll completely shut down this page. Maybe in the future I’ll come back and start fresh if circumstances change. But for now, this is the reality. Thank you for understanding!

Should have never started a sequel if you were in that mind set already. So slap an abandoned tag on this one. Sad too was looking forward to see how the sequel differed from the first since they having a strong bond already.

His Patreon post is very telling. The stress of meeting expectations and receiving the heavy amount of criticisms that come with the NTR genre clearly got to him. His mention of people leaking his content on here is also very telling.

I think the heavy criticisms of Pineapple Express 2 and having it leak so quickly made him feel like it isn't worth it anymore. People need to understand that some creators are very attached to their work. He was likely very excited about bringing this story back. Only to have it shit on and leaked the same day likely crushed any motivations he had.

That is, of course, all speculation as no actual reason was supplied so all we can do is fill in the gaps ourselves (if we are interested enough to do so). I think the Patreon message was edited after I posted it here to remove the "increased risks of working with games in this genre" bit, which pretty much leaves just the "personal issues" part. With that considered though, it does call into question the validity of the statement - did the dev change his mind on the reasons, or on how much he wanted to tell people, or was he just putting in anything as an "excuse" and then realised that that one would only work if the genre was something like incest...? (Potentially he originally meant "genre" to cover AVNs as a whole, as that would at least make a bit of sense in the current climate.)
