No offense but i am not sure how those game devs can miss so many deadlines (Him & others).
If i am late 2hrs at my job, i am close to get lynched by the mob. I also like all of us i think have personal or health problem but it's not like we get an excuse..for it. Besides, it's strange how it always happen when there is few days from cashing in.

I am sorely disappointed by this guy.

Sir D is alive and he gave this update on discord like 15 min or so ago .......

He did fall asleep after being up for 32 hours straight and then he made a mistake by uploading wrong version or something plus forgot to add in the ch 3 summary so he is fixing that and then re-uploading it.

Were getting closer --- :cautious:

lol we’re also getting closer to the end of the month when he gets paid. ill believe it when i see it.
I don't understand that argument. Statistically speaking, patreon numbers go up after a release. So assuming he is just trying to maximize his current income, if he is about to cash in, it is better for him to release it before the change of date, not after wards, to get some people in and charge them twice, when they get in and with the change in month. If he waits right after the change in month, he only get it once until the next month, with enough time for people to leave.

Just simple analysis. Of course I might be totally wrong.

My understanding is that by waiting for next month to release, he will be able to get money from current patrons for both this month and next. If he releases it with a few days left then patrons could download it, play it, and then decide not to pay for July (since there won't be any releases or anything then). So it's not about attracting new patrons but rather retaining the current ones.

Like I said that was under the assumption of monetizing patreon. The way I see it, those that support in patreon found the game without paying and decided to support the product, not the other way around. So the assumption here is that they know how to get the game without patreon, either here or the many other websites. Therefore, nobody is going to stop supporting for a day more or a day less. If they want to stop supporting, even if dev releases afterwards, they know how to get the game. So I don't see the benefit of delaying strategically an update that is finished, just the cost: less new patreons.

The key word there is FINISHED. They may be strategically postpone updates that are not finished. As extending and extending the release dates with random crap. But for finished updates, makes no sense to me.

Ayhsel, your first assessment is wrong. I am a patron of a lot of games (20 or so..), and most of the time and i mean everytime i see in patron posts questions like "how do i get the game?" "if i pledge do i get the game?". So, no it's the other way around. People don't know how or rather where to get it without paying so they use patron. Otherwise how do people like Irphaeus or Gumdrop get new patrons? answer : ignorance. They just don't know and find the game like that. Truth be told my first time pledging was with gumdrop..and i got there from a porn site..i found this site (F95)..months after..and i think that's how it starts for most.

Otherwise Your thinking is true and that's what smart game dev do wait till the last day of the month to release an update and double cash in. But those game devs are really regular with their release like Boom's Attic.

But it also means you've got something to release like you said, now i don't assume for example that dammed has nothing to release. Also, i've hardly seen a dev who makes a release after 6 months+ do it at the end of the month, that's probably part of the answer, It will make you particularly look bad with old patrons, and the loss in patron might be worse than the win of new ones.

Lastly i also think there is a matter of visibility if you hardly make a release doing it at the start of the month is more visible than doing it at the end, it's rather subjective as a reason but it also exists.

Damn good question the last thing i saw him say in Discord was he was uploading it but that was like 2 and a half hours ago and still no word. I will be honest at this point i am not sure i can say much more cept tell you what he said cause i thought by his own words it should have been out by now ( maybe not this site ) but at least out and such.

At this point it's no longer a surprise when misses a deadline, to be honest the surprise will be if/when an update comes out. The part that surprises me is the fact that he continues to set deadlines knowing full well how many countless ones he has already missed.

He has lost all his integrity by this point...I don't think anyone will believe him now

I doubt that to be true. Maybe he'll have a small dip with Polarity but I'd say most of the backers of Radiant for instance have no idea how poor this particular creator is at meeting deadlines.

it’s been in testing phase since June 1. it was supposed to be released June 22 but here we are.

my guess is that that final round of testing will find issues and he can’t send it out until July 1st.
