i've been keeping track. for the last 4-5 teasers (or more), the teasers for this update have always come out 1 week +1 day from each other.

so if it teaser released tuesday, expect next teaser wednesday. except the last one we had. it was 1 week +2 days.

so if were back on schedule, today is teaser day. unless it's a +2 days, then it's tomorrow.

sigh, i've already proven that majority enjoys the NTR, with facts. i've posted the only 2 polls on the patreon and NTR won both. don't make things up.
The only way to do it is for hunter to have his own version of the game.

Anyone have a save file for Chapter 4 ? ( or maybe Chapter 5 ? ) - i need to get past a game freeze error ( Brenna giving the MC a handjob in her room ) . Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated .

I started work on Power Vacuum about eighteen months ago. My elevator pitch at the time was to make a sitcom version of the typical "house" style visual novel. I figured a tightly written comedy VN would be well received; as well as the perfect job for me to do in-between weekend gigs. The reception to the first three versions of my game were lukewarm. People enjoyed the characters and humor but were rightly critical of my erotic content. So, I started putting more time into learning how to make my erotic content better. I'm sure those of you who have made use of the gallery feature have noticed the difference in quality from the early chapters. But this increase in quality has started to take a toll. Animations, collision, dforce, water physics, lighting, geometry shells, natural looking clothing, and expressions have piled up. And when it comes to getting things exactly as you want them, DAZ Studio is a clunky piece of software. Coupled with the iray render engine being slow even on 2000 series GPUs; experimentation has been a time consuming endeavor that has specifically been eating into my writing time. I've tried to squeeze in as much writing as possible, but comedy is difficult and I have to be in the right mindset. I ended up having to force it with deadlines; resulting in writing that I'm unhappy with. Now, all of the blame can't be attributed to my stringent writing schedule. Part of the issue is that it's hard to write a comedy game during the bleakest year of my life. I'm sure many of you can empathize. I know depressed VN artist is a worrying cliché, so I will state that I'm not mentally at risk. It's just been an understandably awful year.

The reason why I bring this up is because as we approach the home stretch to version seven, I've decided to postpone the update and take November off to rewrite most of the scenes, redo renders, and get out of my head for a while. Before anyone can say the word "milking", I'll be pausing my Patreon for November since this is a borderline vanity move as I'm sure a fair amount of you don't care if my writing is up to my own personal standard. The update was originally scheduled for around the 8th-13th of November. The new date will be the same but in December. I know this is a disappointing announcement, just know that I'm not happy about it either. Again, Patreon will be free next month if you're already subscribed and today's game teasers will be posted tomorrow.

Moving forward, I've been trying to think of ways to make sure this doesn't happen again. Taking a month off for my mental health is a start as it also gets me one month closer to the long promised return to normalcy. Secondly, I've decided to invest in a new workstation PC with two RTX 3090s. It should be up and running around November 10th. It'll be four times as fast as my current PC and will significantly speed up my workflow. Other than that, I'm out of ideas. The game already dominates all of my time since the work is never done and everything can be improved. When I look at the shortcuts that other visual novels take, I don't see any that I want to copy. However, the main thing that I've noticed time and again is that the majority of VN players are completely satisfied with pedestrian dialogue. An adult visual novel written like a sitcom was an interesting concept, but I think this is the wrong medium. Most people don't look at these games as adult visual novels. They look at them as porn games. And porn games don't need wordplay, characterization, or proper use of any literary device.

Part of the problem could be that a considerable amount of people that play VNs aren't from the USA and presumably know English as a second language. Comedy is the hardest thing to translate and there's just no way the numerous people messaging me things like "Why Hunter no sex lady?" are going to appreciate the joke I'm writing about a commercial from forty years ago. So, again, for my edification, I've included a poll asking your opinion on my writing. I have no plans to change how Power Vacuum is written but the results will influence any future games I may make.

I'll appreciate any ideas you may want to offer in the comments.
Thanks for supporting Power Vacuum, sorry about the delay, and Happy Halloween

Honestly, I've only played through Power Vacuum once, and it was 0.6... But this dev seems like a really reasonable guy. This is all tight with me!

Sure seems like this is usually the beginning of the end, hopefully not but buckle in guys could very well see another of our top games get abandoned or rushed to the finish ruining the experience. Lets hope for the best but I know we've all seen this far too many times.

My 5cents worth is TBH I don't think he should pause his payments as he is still working on the game while taking a break for his mental health. He constantly talks with his people and is trying he's best to keep PV true to his original idea. I'll personally be messaging him to tell him this as well.

*Sigh* I feared that would happen. I had hope when teasers appeared every, but started to fear when the gap started to increase.

Of course we wait, but this year is shit. And one of the thing that can distract me was this game. And i have to live through this year without it full november and hald of december.

Although, i don't get this poll. Comedy writing? I didn't like this game for comedy. I like this game because its GOOD writing. Yep, english is my second language and i don't get all references. And i don't have propblem with that.
The only thing i can say, that you can fogive many things in comedy. Take NTR again. If this game was a serious shit drama. And bad ending was crushing the soul with same drama. I would propably turn NTR off. Allright, maybe not. But... Well i hope you get what am i trying to say.

He's human and wondering if there is appreciation for all the detail he tries to offer, including the tight use of comedy to help define the relationships between these characters.

Sounds pretty reasonable to take a step back and recharge after 1.5 years, especially when the ability to find inspiration for expressing that entertaining wit freely is so tough, lately.

He's also proactively stopping payments for a month, though honestly I'm supporting the Dev's ability to produce releases - not a release on a schedule. I would have been fine paying while he refreshed and retooled.

I kind of get why he wants to pause the payments, a lot of people in this forum don't really realize how much work goes into making these games and they just keep complaining. So it's understandable that he would want to just pause his patreon and not deal with the typical "milking" comments.

Hm. Actually now that we talking about money. I think Dev should increase minimal pledge from 1$ to 2$ per month.

After announcing a break? erm... no, that would be unwise, pausing payments or not. Honestly i respect the guy for doing this - hes been straight up and saying hes taking a month off, too many push on and end up caving in and walking away. Its not an illness issue, he just wants to take some time out and given the next update is most part complete sans rewrites and what have you its not like the next update wont come as promised in December and more teasers will come tomorrow so good luck to him and December will be extra great as far as im concerned with an update for the game appearing then. From most all comments ive seen everyone is perfectly happy and on board with him taking a break... though the one concern i have is his questioning continuing approach to humour vs more focus on the sex content. The poll is very heavily leaning to remaining comedy heavy but him questioning this shows why he needs a break, when your having fun its much easier to be funny. Anyone can just shoe horn loads of sex scenes in a VN for easy coinage but his is distinct based on the humour, characterisation of the cast and on going soap opera esc vision he has crafted for us so far with the game. Long may this continue and if that means the odd break then so be it, even if he didnt pause the payments id still advocate he take this break he clearly needs and desires.

Well, first thing I do next sunday is increasing my pledge! He's gonna get my money either he wants it or not! :p

More seriously, I support his decision one hundred per cent! The reason I love Power Vacuum so much is thanks to his top notch writing so if the dev wants to take some time off to find his inspiration in order to keep the good old banters coming, I can only be understanding. Just don't forget "perfect is the enemy of good" so don't go crazy second guessing yourself too much. Even if a joke falls flat it won't be the end of the world ;) And if you need any reassurance, I'm sure there are plenty of people on your Discord channel who would be willing to lend you a pair of eyes if you ever need a second opinion on things :giggle:

Now about the poll, I've answered "The comedy writing is as important as the erotic content" but I'd like to comment on that. The comedic aspect is really great but what really matters to me is the quality of the writing, the character's development and the way the dialogues flow (this part makes me think of Aaron Sorkin (y)) so if one day you want to write in a different genre, I'd be more than happy to read it! In fact, I'd be curious to see you writing some drama... I think it's a lot easier to make someone cry through a novel rather than laugh so we would probably need even more tissues than usual playing your game! :ROFLMAO:

I don't know about that. If people are in it just for the porn, why even bother with the VN format to begin with? I, for one, wouldn't be interesting in a sexy slideshow with shitty writing but maybe that's just me.
Give more credit to your audience! :p I'm really glad Power Vacuum is an adult VN and not just another porn game...^^

I also had these thoughts about your game. I'm pretty confident in my level in English despite the fact that it isn't my native language but I actually need to pause playing Power Vacuum from time to time to look up references and such. I never need to do that when I'm watching a TV series or reading a novel so that's kinda crazy that an adult VN is more "culturally challenging" but I don't mind that. Nevertheless it's probably true some people are like "WTF is he saying?" while playing your game and get frustrated. In this case, maybe they stop paying attention to the dialogues and just wait for the next sexy scene which is a bummer since they miss the core content that make this game a gem.

By the way, since the characters are so young, why are they even talking about an old commercial from the 80's? I live in France so the american culture is deeply embedded here but a reference to an old american ad from before I was even born, there is no chance that I get the joke! But the real question is, do american youngsters can even get that joke? ^^
Anyway, I would never suggest to dumb it down a little (that would be sacrilege! :devilish:) but more modern references could go a long way (with the Internet, the american culture is now spread worldwide so I think you would have more chance to get your point across that way but forget what I say if that would be less enjoyable for you... ;)).
