The log indicates that renpy can't open the steam appid file for writing.
It seems you have a file system permission problem or something else is keeping the file locked (usually an antivirus or security-related software)
A locked file usually clears after a simple reboot.
Permission issues require you to grant the missing permissions (write in this case), unfortunately how to do that depends on which OS you are running (Windows, MacOS, etc.)
Do note that you need to fix the permissions for the folder where you decompressed/installed the game and for every file and folder within that folder.

Great update, as usual. My only complaint is that we need update patches, or the game needs to be split into parts. It takes me about two and a half hours to download the 8.6 GB it is right now.
I feel like I already asked this, but has the dev given any ETA on how many more updates this has left? It has to be winding down, right??

IIRC the dev said the 30 chapters include the epilogue some months ago...

i'd guess sometime middle of next year maybe. Dev seems quick with updates I forget about this game for a few months and usually notice im usually 1-2 updates behind with the next not to far away most of the timearight, awesome dude, thanks!

That was a very good update, as usual.
I did feel like the servants were overly glossed over. They were infected with a plague, captured, interrogated, threatened, and then they just disappear from the story? Particularly the maid who knocked on the door. She should at least either A. apologize, and Maria shows her character by not getting mad at all, or B. call them monsters, and Maria naturally lets the maid leave unharmed. And I would think some servants would leave because they're uncomfortable cleaning up the mess of a bunch of dead inquisitors, and/or concerned that the Daltons will lose and they'd be on the losing side, and afraid they'd be punished horribly; the Dalton estate is going to be hiring.
I got a rollback error of some sort, that I forgot to screenshot, when I loaded my saves from the end of ch23. I solved it by loading saves from ch 22.
Then I ran through ch23 in the new update, and at a few points I saved and reloaded and the error didn't show up again. Not the most helpful debugging data, but that's all I got. (Sorry.)

Downloaded Price of Power chapter 24 and walkthrough modification, then the game crashed, so I pressed 'ignore'... it took me back to the very beginning.
