Makes them webp* with 80% quality. But for this game the original files are also webp. I assume just converted 1:1 from png to webp though.

I went ahead and updated the WT mod to Ch30. You probably don't need it, but here it is anyway, enjoy!

For those having trouble getting the game to run on Joiplay, navigate to:

game > script_version.txt

Change the line to (8, 4,1) and save. Working for me on the latest public builds of JoiPlay and Ren'py plugins.

It's not really that crazy. Proper compression with webp can drop the size by a factor of 10+.

If you don't mind clarifying (since I've never done this before) when your instructions say "un-rpa the game", do you mean the "extract RPA" function, "extract and decompile", "All", or something else? And can I use the .bat version?

I started playing this forever ago, then kind of forgot about it, and kept meaning to go back to it but never got around to it.

Now that it's finished, is it a real ending where everything is wrapped up and the story is well-told, or is it more like way too many games where it just feels like the dev finally got bored of working on it and just ended it abruptly?

Definitely hoping for the former. Time to dive back in and see, I guess!
