I know it's been a long minute since Boom has been around the comments here, but if anyone from the team sees this I'd be greatly appreciative if it was passed along.

My mom's mother battled dementia for the last 12 years of her life. A few months I lost my best friend's mother after a long battle with dementia. Our parents have been close friends since we were about 5, they've always been my second family. In addition to my Dad's heart problems, he was also recently diagnosed with dementia. My wife and I took another blow 2 weeks ago when we got news that my father-in-law has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and it's progressing rapidly. It's beyond heartbreaking as all hell seeing people you love and care for go through that decline late in life. It's even more challenging to take them into your home to give them the best quality of life that you can in their final days. You're good people for being there for family and taking care of her. It's a damn tough thing to do, and I respect the hell outta you for putting life on hold to step up and make sure she spends her remaining days with family that care and love her. Sadly, in this day and age, far too many people out there would rather stick their relatives in a nursing home over providing the care they need themselves. My heart, same as everyone here, goes out to your and yours in these trying times. Stay strong, and take peace in knowing that even through the fog, the love and care you're giving her means so much.

You can do what you want, but I think it's really shitty to shame others for deciding not to personally care for the elderly. It's mentally and physically taxing to care for another person, which you should know from your experience. People don't just sit still and behave because it's easier on you. People don't suddenly become nice because they hit the ripe old age of 75. People don't always have the time or resources to simultaneously live their life and care for a dying person outside of work hours, nor should they want to. Not everyone's in the same walk of life or face the same challenges.
And if you think the new generation sucks, it's because the older generation failed to be better parents and role models. Imagine teaching your kids that money and success in life is everything and being surprised when they're too busy to take care of you.

I agree, although I would point out that SGTMickey did say "far too many", not that there were never any exceptions or special circumstances. (I have no idea whether they think that themselves; it's just that I'm not going to assume anything based on their post.) Also, I would never expect someone to do something, but I obviously applaud someone for being this selfless. That doesn't sound any better. "Far too many" still implies that some people should be ashamed for deciding to put their elders in the care of another. No one is actually happy to care for someone that's too old to look after themselves. It's a depressing and exhausting job that'll only get harder as time goes on. If you are willing to take on such a burden and have the means to, good on you. But no one should be expected to, like you said. The phrase "in this day and age" especially rubs me the wrong way because it ignores the issues that the newer generations have to face that older generations did not.

We've been trying to avoid having to write this message, but unfortunately we now have reached a point where we have to be completely upfront with everyone. As some of you have already noticed and messaged me personally about, there hasn't been any activity on Patreon nor has there been activity from Boomatica on Discord this month. The truth of the matter is, we haven't been able to contact him either for the past 3 weeks. The rest of the team (Me, Quonix, Outside, and Bloodyface) have no idea what is going on or if Boomatica is healthy and safe. We've been hoping that he would pop back in the past 10 days or so, but unfortunately... he hasn't. But as for now, there is not much that we can do apart from hoping and praying that he is alright. Now, before anyone starts to worry about Sweet Affection, you don't have to, and I'll explain that in a bit. Because Boomatica is the only person that has access to our Patreon page, we are in a difficult situation right now, a situation that we thought hard about the past week.​

At first our idea was to just release the upcoming 0.7.9 build for everyone, but that would cause another big issue for some of us. Because Boomatica is in complete control of Patreon, he is also in complete control of the financial side of things. So even if we would release the build for free on Discord, we would still be unable to get paid. Now, before anyone starts to get the idea "It's just all about the money and you should just release it for free" You'd have to understand that creating Sweet Affection has been my personal full-time job for the past 2 years, a job where I've spent 60/80 hours a week on. So, releasing the game for free... would simply mean me not being able to pay my bills, and having to pause production on Sweet Affection. So, what we came up with is that we are going to open up a new Patreon page later this week where we will release the builds on like we usually do. Now, this new page will still be a part of BA-Games, as will everyone that is working on it will be. If/When Boomatica comes back, control of that page will be transferred to him if he requests that. And even though I'm the current sole creator of Sweet Affection, the rights still are 100% with BA-Games.​

What does that mean of the Production of Sweet Affection overall? In short, not that much actually. I will still create all the art and produce all the writing. Quonix will still continue being a coding mastermind. And Outside will still be the one that produces the music. The only thing that will change is that it will be released on another page that is controlled by the team. However, obviously we need to reach a certain goal on the new Patreon page within a couple of weeks/months in order for the team to get paid and in order to pay our bills and continue development. Development on Sweet Affection won't ever stop as I won't ever stop working on it, but in what capacity completely is in the hands of the fans and the number of people that will switch. Now, I completely understand if people have questions and I'll be here as much as possible to answer those, as is the rest of the team. Actually, going by f95 rule of 3 months it should have been marked as abandoned since the last post in patreon was in September.
Is kinda sad there is no news about the dev, but we can only hope he gets well and come back to work on it.
