I still want to believe this game will be great in time. It has so much potential.

That said, after checking out the 'thiccer' character models, I'm disappointed. The earlier models were perfect.

so if you gave Matto 50 or more, you get Veteran edition that will include all future content for the game
I know other games do it, but the idea of planned DLC for a porn game, well before the game is even in an early access state, leaves such a bad taste in my mouth.

I so want this to succeed, I so want it all to be true, I so want it to be actually do-able ... but I am sad that the critical voices sound far more plausible.
Maybe, just maybe, this is going to be the exception, but I cannot remember the last time hope alone (or grandiose claims on someone else's part) was a good strategy.

Still firing up Section 7 from time to time, though. ;)

Should have just recreated Section 7. A game of that scale is more believably achievable than an open world sandbox game.

While I understand your concern completely, you need to accept that the scope has changed (has been for a long time now) and this is not a full on porn game, this has been already discussed plenty; DLCs are planned in this case more as expansions of content, because it's not feasible to have everything ready at one moment, but the base game + DLCs should not exceed the price of your average "full game"...

You xenomorph guys better hurry up, cuz lifespan of a single xeno is about ~150 years and at this pace, when it took you 3 years to build 1 open level, very partially, aka 0.1% of one level, and you intended to do 250 000 levels to cover 1/5 of the earth, so you will need only,

7,500,000 years.

Hurry up Alket

I checked out about a year ago, after watching two promising projects get sacked. Not surprised at the state of this new project lol. I'll check back in another year, and after that, probably never again. Seen this cycle too many times. not wasting time or money on promises anymore

the current game and map could work on its own IMO for a decent game if the time was put into giving players more to do in the map, as Matto I think suggested before.
so it was kinda disappointing to learn that EA is, earliest, coming in **2026**, instead of just releasing an alpha/pre-alpha build NOW and improving over time so we can at least FEEL the results of his work.

His recent post reeks of scope creep and while working off-patreon (and not taking anymore money) is a good gesture to me, having a FOMO steam key that MAYBE will be useful down the line if Matto's PC doesn't explode again like with Forbidden Planet and Section One is...
kinda stinky. Like "take the money and run" stinky, if things go tits up.

I hope it works out though. The builds I played were pretty neat, if unfinished and basic.

Do not fret, Matto is doing his best to create the best game he can, sadly good things take time...

This is way more than a scope change bruv.
The Scope has changed quite a bit from the very first poc/protoype/demo, I'm well aware of that, but Matto is confident in his abilities and he has no issues showing it on his Patreon posts for you to see...so yeah, the game might not have porn content as of now, but beside that it's actually shaping up.

...

In any case, don't think for a second that we are not aware of the concerns, there are plenty of projects with bloated ambitions that fail to meet any expectations and get discarded by the dev when they bomb at release...many of them are from big studios and publishers too...so: <<what chance does a single dev at a game with "100 million km2" of stuff to populate with content have?>> is a valid argument.

The difference from most project I've seen here lies in how these have been laid out tho: many started as a linear games, started small, one map and moved from there, some to open worlds, OGZ/Rogue Planet is doing the opposite, Matto created the big system and is scaling down.

This means that, from a pure "readiness" standpoint of the basis themselves, Matto's already there...he just need to pile up content to populate the system that are already there, but piling up enough content to make the game a game and not a walking simulation will be a challenge for a single dev, even with all the procedural generation helping you, and he runs the risk of falling into the "soulless" type of procedural content, where there is a lot of nothing...

The next challenge for him will be proving that, on top of the world he created, he can actually create this content
I believe he can, he has an eye for detail, but then there is the "how long will it take?" question...
gamedev is not easy job...
You can choose to support Matto or not, nobody's forcing you to do anything, but I would kindly ask for people to stop messaging, insulting and pressuring the guy on DMs.

I think Matto can pull it off if he moves with purpose, you are free to believe the opposite, just, please, try not to be toxic about it.

Hurry up Alket, 7 499 997 years only left, to finish the project, based on your speed so far and promises.
1/5 of the Earth's size right ?
All of my calculations are in previous posts, so, not sure how many more Mattos you will need to hire.

Saying this because i am too eager to throw another $100 at you guys. Very promising developers, such a talented team, Dream-Team. Can't wait for that Patreon of yours to re-open. Will be my best investment of 2050.

And thanks for finally replying to me Alket , Merry Christmas to you my friend :D

P.S if you ever need consultations with UE5, let me know, got some experience in it. You know beta testing for the project, because 1/5 of Earth's size is a no joke challenge for a single dev.

The game is actually being built in U4, when U5 released in ¬2022 the engine was already so customized that moving to U5 would have meant either starting from scratch or waste a lot of time fixing all the shit, Matto decided not to waste time on that and the community feedback agreed.

From one developer to another :

all that matters is,
results.

And so far, the results are :
3 abandoned projects and 4~ NSFW animations in 2+ years.
And talks about 1/5 earth's surface map, that will take 255 036 levels and 7+ million years to complete.

Maybe it's time to sort out priorities.

You guys served the same uncooked dish 3 times, took the money for it, and now you are going to steam with it :ROFLMAO:
I mean, good luck, fingers crossed, but it would be delusional to even think that you gonna deliver even a fraction of what you promised.

Hi, people, what do you think the Rogue Protocol is going to be thrown here or not, and what do you think about the project?
