It's interesting, that we have sort of a weird dichotomy on this side. What I mean is, we have many games that are objectively not good if you factor everything in, but still get very high ratings, and then we have games that have a certain quality and yet often struggle with ratings.

There are games with really abysmal writing and a barely existing story, with the same few models used for every one of them, with the consensus being that the larger tits and arses are the hotter the women (and don't get me wrong, I love me some voluptuous babes, but there is a point where a breast becomes a gym ball), the sex scenes consist of one or two short loops, without any additional dialogue or exposition, and those games get dozens of 5-star ratings, and I guess it is fine, if you just want porn images in a game and don't mind the ridiculous proportions, that's up to you.
On the other hand, though, we have some really well-written, well-made games with a great story and good characters and yet while most of them rate pretty high, they seem to be rated with a different measure.
Some reviewers set very high standards and find perceived shortcomings enough to detract one or two stars.
And yes, it is fine if you rate a game like this with 3 or 4 stars, and maybe it does deserve it, and you certainly have the right to do it, but I also think one should maybe consider the way a lot of the games here are rated, the effort a lot of people put into their reviews.
"There is no content and this and that and this isn't that great, but I think the game has lots of potential 5 stars" or
"the mother of the MC who might become at some point a possible LI has dared to kiss her husband, that slut! I'd give zero stars if possible!!!" or
"no animations 2 stars" or
"no sound 3 stars" or
"the game contains this or that content that doesn't adhere to my personal tastes, so it's a horrible game, 1 star." or
"the game has a harem, and so it gets my five stars."

We've all seen these, I think, and maybe, just maybe, consider the average quality of the games we encounter here and then factor that into your review as well, and sometimes it might make sense to give a game one star more, just to make clear, it actually IS a good game, not just a game you enjoy for whatever reason.
This isn't directed at a particular review or reviewer, just something that I've noticed while reading through the reviews for some of the better games on the site.

Great update.

It starts with Nyx wondering about Solarin moral bounds and proceed with her thinking about the newcomers to the galaxy the humans, which felt very mass effect inspired. (y) :p
Lastly she says she got the hots for Aria while masturbating. I approve, go for it girl maybe you can fix her! :p

Hey i also liked the nice dose of realism when Sanjiro wanted to go back planetsaide straight away but Alison reminds him that you can't just fly in space and reach the place that you want. They need to wait for the right transfer window.

I had mentioned before but i will mention again. There are some render images that evoke a almost painting like feeling. Like the shot of Ves overlooking the scenario or the one with the sun rays iluminating the desert.:)

Coming back to Nyx's wonderings we got the answer via a change to Solarin's point of view showing how he first discovered a "Deep One" artifact and how dangerous they can be, to his search for more ending in the present time.
He is turning more and more ruthless in search of his goal of stopping this threat of the Deep Ones. As his slaughter of Varuus' people and the other rebels showed. RIP.

In a way this reminds me a lot of Saren in Mass Effect 1, who wanted to save the galaxy by any means possible but lost himself along the way. Even Solarin's cybernetic arm is reminding me of Saren, plus the creepy implant that healed and changed his eyes colors to blue.

Also curious that Aria is the actual owner of SAC but she lets Solarin run the show in front of cameras. Wonder how long she will stand for this, specially if Nyx (or someone else) could open her eyes.

Back to the massacre, Kaylee was able to escape because Ves came back to save her. She has no qualms about seducing and killing guards now. While she may have changed a lot her love and care for Kaylee is still there. Another beautiful shot of Kaylee overlooking the invaded base while Ves' winds envelop her friend.(y)
Meanwhile Sandra is still bugged "hunting down" blue haze crystals because of Hana. But that likely saved both of them since they were away from the base.

Speaking of Deep Ones, was that space squid the crew meet one of them?
Also Ashe was pissed because they brought her to "the doctor". Her sex scene was interesting because it looked almost sad in the making to me, specially with that song. Sure there is passion between her and Gunslinger but they were doing it now mostly because pleasure is a band aid that can numb the cripling pain from the withdrawl of blue haze drug.

Anyway i found curious the revelation that Emily fancies Ashe. I say go for it girl! is this the seed for some sort of poly relationships in the future?:love:
Also it was funny seeing Elysra poking at Ashe and Gunslinger with lots of sexual innuendos.:ROFLMAO:

This one didn't end in a big cliffhanger. In a way it felt like the closing of a chapter instead of a book.
The crew is reunited, they honor their fallen and they have a new destination: Mytellor, home of Elysra and the Galactic Council while Alisson (who took over the rebels leadership) will got to a world called Malladan V. Is this one a reference to Malachor V?

Anyway, amazing update as always and now we sit and wait for the next one.

My goodness, started playing today and the pilot recruitment scene in episode 2 had me in a laughing fit that lasted almost 15 minutes. Just bought season 1 on Steam, definitely worth the money for that moment alone! I'll drop a review when I've caught up completely.

I don't tend to respond to reviews, but your comment about me not putting any passion into the game, and rather acting only on capital, is genuinely one of the most hurtful criticisms I've heard

I put my soul into this product, and seeing each update come together at the end and seeing the final product is one of the most satisfying feelings I've ever experienced, and seeing people talk about the story and world and characters I'm creating always makes me insanely happy, it was one of the main reasons I started developing in the first place

Furthermore, if I've ever bragged about being the best avn developer around, which I don't recall, it was more than clearly made in jest. I'm not nearly arrogant enough to actually do that

With that said, thanks for your review, I appreciate that you took time out of your day to write an actually constructive one
Feel ya.

ANYONE who works in ANY creative field knows the joy and satisfaction of bringing to an idea to life, especially if the finished project brings joy or evokes emotions in others.

Projekt: Passion is clearly a labor of love and I cannot fathom how someone could construe it as a Passionless Project!? :unsure:o_OPerhaps the AVN being so polished gives the false impression of being the product of the gaming division of some faceless and soulless corporation... (SAC?) ;)

I cannot say I follow every post in this thread religiously, but when I read your posts, I often see the exact same humor that's abundant in the game, so I don't think it's too difficult to distinguish the tom-foolery (often ironic or self-depreciating) from the serious stuff. :p

"What I mean is, we have many games that are objectively not good..." Well that's the problem right there. There is no such thing as a game that is objectively not good. Quality in a game is subjective and all reviews are essentially just opinions which are subjective.

Hell even the criteria and the ratings scale is open to debate and criticism. There is no set way to review a game and even if you try to create a scientific and consistent method for reviewing something, there will still be those who don't agree with how you applied it.

You don't have to review a game in comparison to other games (and I think F95 rules may actually prohibit that). In any event, I can think two games are both 5 stars in their own right and yet still have a clear preference for one game over another.

Ah the famous 1138 analysis. You really comment on every single scene, and I really appreciate that. Thank you friend, good read.

I am more than aware of the numerous Mass Effect similarities, it was a major inspiration after all

SAndrA is dead mate, she got stabbed in the neck remember?
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
Does she look alive to you Lipe?
Being an android an argument could be made that she wasn't alive to begin with! Anyways DO NOT TOY WITH US CLASSY! Sandra fans will riot worse than Ashe fans when you eventually hide her behind an extra paywall!
