Thank you, Nersão. I'm happy to be here.Hey Tlaero.... So nice to see you here!!
I'm not saying that Ariane invented erotic games. I remember playing a variant of Strip Poker on my Apple //e in '84 or '85. I'm also not saying that Ariane invented visual novels. I played a number of them before her first game came out. But Chaotic's early games weren't inspired by the Visual Novels of the time. They were inspired by Virtual Date Ariane. Similarly, my early games were also inspired by Ariane, not other Visual Novels.I think you are mistaken, visual novels were developed in west even before she "invented" it. the first game as far as I have seen is "Gamma Force in Pit Of A Thousand Screams" It's released in even before I born -1988.
I recognize that this is a tautology, but what I'm really saying is that it's my opinion that Ariane invented a new genre, one that could easily be called "ArianeB-style games," and that many of us have been working in that genre. Again, she's too modest to call it hers, but, at the very least, those of us who followed were unquestionably standing on the shoulders of a giant.
That said, I don't intend to devolve this discussion into an argument of the proper classification of "Visual Novels." I'm just trying to point out Ariane's contribution to the space. Many of the games that people enjoy today simply wouldn't have happened without her.
