EXT. RUN DOWN APARTMENT - NIGHTWE OPEN on a brick laced apartment in a run-down part of town. The outline of two cats fighting on a fence catch the viewers attention as the camera pans up to the third floor with the only light on.
Cut To:
INT. RUN DOWN APARTMENT - BEDROOM - NIGHTA DIMLY lit room with a single lamp illuminates the background of torn spackle and exposed plasterboard. Gunshots are heard outside, and we hear the feral cats in heat. The outline of a man hunched over a blue-lit laptop screen focuses the viewers eyes as the camera pans into the back of his head as he furiously types. We enter through the head of this individual seeing what he see's on the screen.
Cut To:
LAPTOP SCREEN6213 TABS are indicated as open and running on the web-browser, obviously slowing down any processing, the working tab and site logo labeled 'Patreon' as the text field is filling with words the viewer quickly catches up to to what is being typed. The box reads:

LAPTOP KEYBOARDTHE 'ENTER' key is the primary focus. The keys of the laptop appear badly worn, Cheeto dust and pubes interlace the keys that are also covered in an oily substance. Dramatic music begins to crescendo. The unknown individual's finger then enters the screen depressing the 'Enter' key.

INT. RUN DOWN APARTMENT - BEDROOM - NIGHTTHE CAMERA cuts back to the same shot we had before of the this individual revealing the left hand side of the room. The camera then focuses from the individual to the background containing the display cases of Anime figurines covered in black mold from all the cum. The music continues to crescendo. The camera continues panning left along the wall of cum covered figurines, there are revealed to be hundreds. Maniacal laughter begins to supersede the dramatic music. At the end is a stiff cum-stained body-pillow of a cat girl that falls over in the background hitting the floor with the sound of a 2x8. The camera follows the body-pillow to the ground. I literally give no shits how much their making if I'm not one of the ones paying. And the people bitching about it clearly don't understand what patronage is.
We undestand just fine. Problem is don't pretend you got sick or you got your balls crushed in your vice etc, etc and then just not deliver anything. At least Ocean invests the money in hardware.

I have been a history buff for life (even have a Master's). I clearly DO know what patronage is stretching back 2k years.
But the way these middle-men payment sites, such as Patreon, use the term "patron" is a con.
I asked a Dev directly. Are subsribers about funding the Dev specifically or about a specific game ? He replied that oc it is the game. Since all subs pay monthly, they deserve monthly content. btw, other types of content providers (political and financial analysts, sex workers, et al.) do so.
That is, content that is canon vis-a-vis a specific game. Wallpapers that are non-canon and often off-topic Discord chatter don't qualify. So the monthly payment schedule simply does not reflect the present situation where it is common for VN Devs to take many months between updates.
It is fair to say "pirates" should take what they can get and be happy about it. But quite a few pirates are ex-subs and maybe future subs. To reduce everything to "mere" money is wrong unless ALL constructive criticism is deemed worthless.
The matter of a Dev's monthly income is a nothing burger most of the time. But if a specific Dev--hello Radiant--seems to drop updates if/when his Patreon revenue droops, that topic is a fun conversation for this thread.
And here’s the most common excuse from devs! They must be all cursed lol, they are all sick and they always use it as an excuse. And they expect his subscribers to believe it. Disgusting
