to be fair, if a mission is too difficult, you could just halt your progress and grind for sp as long as you want (clearing extra missions can also reward you with ultra rare items too)
both amitos and elena can be unlocked after clearing a heroine route (forgor since I've cleared the game awhile ago), alicesoft wiki on miraheze should have the details you need
