Well, no.
A shit load of content, 1 hours and half for 18 month or 20 min for 4 month are nearly the same and in final it s not a lot...
i m usualy patient too, but when a game have year update (or more...) i ask myslef how many update left ? wll i really wait 10 years to see the end ? in just a vn game, not a fucking gta 6...
For me i will see the next update and the time for the next one and if the dev can t do better than more a year update, i will drop it, even if it s a pretty good start, because we are just at the start of it.
This do not make any sense though? Because if you send small 20 minute update every few months, the game will still take the same time to play in the end. It only is broken up to smaller chunks. You do not change how long it take for the game to finished, only how many updates are in the end version. And many small bits are sometimes less good as the whole, like measuring the TV by episodes vs seasons. It is not like there are not other good games to play while wait for the update, and there is nothing to do to change the end time, so why to worry?

You seem very new to this, so i will answer. The thing it change is the developer s motivation...
For now the worth of vn game are abandonned games, nearly 50% of the game you see here will be abandonned before the end. So you learn with time to choose the game to invest time, because i have not the time to read all the game here so i must choose.
So when you have a game with years update, its not a good sign this will go until the end, that why " i ask myslef how many update left ? wll i really wait 10 years to see the end ? in just a vn game, not a fuching gta 6...." 10 years it s a too long time to wait to see the end of a vn story for me. A lot a complet game did better in the past, but this change slowly.
And here come the milking or the artificial increase in the time needed to end for a longer period of money inflow... and the dev motivation to make this game. If you read what this dev said in the past you be worried we are a the 2 or 3 update and he already talk about burnout with more of year update, he go help other dev while this game have one of the largest time dev of f95, it s not really looking good to my point of view. It s only the start of this game... The game is nice ok, but a nice game is not all, the time of dev is important too for me.
Now sure there are a lot of game in f95 but even if i m here for story, i dont like kinetic (they are not game but comics, ebook and i m here to play games) i dont like sandbox (i don t want to be lock in a maze hunting for event and do them again and again to get points to unlock. and a lot are just kinetic where you choose in what order to read chapter but 0 choice for the story), and since patreon put a war on vn, ntr invaded nearly all the vn (not it s become most popular but because they are the next cow milk for dev...) and i really don t like this, so no there is not really a lot of game to read here and wait more than a year to read an update for a good game and maybe not see the end, and it is a probleme for me. if you are good with it great for you, wait for it by playing another game, i can only talk for me...

On the topic of Dev Motivation, there is also the money aspect. The Dev complained in the past that other games have a bigger following despite being of lower quality than Realm Invader. And I would agree, quality-wise there is not much which can compare to this game. However, those other games have a consistent Update-schedule...
I dont pay money for a game which only gets one Update every 18 months or so. Why would I pay money for it when I dont get any game for 17 months out of 18 months? I dont really care about Wallpapers or anything, so I will not be motivated to pay money.
And even if I would only pay when an Update comes out, the Update-schedule makes it easy to just not pay. If I wait 18 months for an Update, I can also wait 19 months for the Update and play it for free because it becomes public. One month in advance does nothing there and since the next Update will be over a year from there, I would not even fall behind in the slightest and there is plenty of time to play the new Update.

So I think with a different Update-schedule the Dev would also have more paying members on his Patreon. But it is obviously up to them how they want to handle it, they want to provide massive Updates with nearly 20 months in between them, even tho they would still be able to provide huge Updates with 4 months in between them. And the latter would probably result in more financial support.

I do agree with the general sentiment but:

I haven't seen any game that can provide "huge" updates with 4 months in between them, that's just not realistic specially with the degree of quality it has right now.

But yeah some middle ground would be nice, more than a year between updates when we are barely at episode 2 is a bit rough even with the current amount of content. At this rate real life will get in his way before he finishes.

I just think that if the Dev would split the Updates into smaller chunks which release every 4 months or so, they would still be quite big. Maybe not every Update would feature a H-Scene, but given how huge the Updates are when they are released, it is safe to assume that portions of it would also be quite big.

Made a quick Walkthrough mod.

Best choices are highlighted in green. Enjoy!

[Updated for Ep 2 part 1]
One question. Before I download that, I want to know if that walkthrough mod works on the android version too. Before anyone asks, that android version is on the dev's itch.io and the dev's patreon. Dunno why its not posted here too but whatevs. Back to the question, does that bad boy work for the android version? Regardless of the answer, thanks in advance for taking the time out to answer the question ef8a7c5c6a58062374df8b7834221d38.gif

I hope not, as Patreon seems to have had an update 5 days ago. I could be in denial though, because I want more of the tone & vibe of this game in my veins immediately.
Dont pay too much attention to this person. His post activity is 90% hating on another game and the rest is asking or stating that a game is dead.

Dev update
# **I'm making myself miserable (and that's a good thing)** #

Okay, all business. Funny dev guy makes no funny dev guy jokes.

Pretty sure I've missed/am missing the window I alluded to earlier, but I did warn about it not being accurate.

Anyway, I've entered depression speedrun mode, i.e. pretty much my entire life is being dedicated to finishing this update right now, sacrificing basically 100% of my free time outside of work.

The results have been great, and the past few days have seen rates of progress maybe faster than ever during this update cycle. It's a really painful throwback to how I developed the last two updates, and the fact that I worked like this for over a year for those really makes it obvious how I became jaded when starting Ep 2 Pt 2. Regardless, I'm going to keep up this pace until the update is out, basically because the finish line is so visible that any kind of procrastination would be excruciating for me to conceptualize, seeing that finish line getting further away.

Also, whenever I make one of these posts, I get a few "please take care of yourself" comments. Please don't do that this time, I know what I'm doing, I know how much I can handle. This is a very deliberate shift in workload that has a clear end goal in mind.

Right now, I'm in the final animation batch, with about 9 animations left to do, and about 80 renders remaining. In terms of renders, this tried-and-true method of self-torture has consistently put me on 40+ render days, so I'm not worried about those 80 static renders taking long.

As for the animations, I'm unsure. the reason I missed that window I last announced is because those previous animations took longer than I thought they would. They look great, so I'm not mad about that, but the animations looking better than ever unsurprisingly leads to them taking longer to make.

But also, those previous animations were done while I was semi-locked in, now I'm locked the FUCK in.

No announcement of a realease window this time, just because I don't want to get it wrong again and embarrass myself. But basically, soon. Sooner than ever.

More details in further posts, gonna put out the final preview batch for Resonants and above in the near future.

No sympathy for me, guys. Just let me fucking cook.
