No I meant to say no scene is triggering in the forest. Are old saves not compatible (0.1)

No, old save files should work as well. If possible, could you provide your save file so I can check?

It seems like you forgot to enter the dark cave guarded by the cyclops. Inside, you should find someone important. Afterward, sleep at home, and you will then be able to enter the forest.
